hmm, well, not sure if thats a good thing but she seems to be okay with it!

It wasn't just the structure of her muscles and joints but also her speed of recovery, the ability to receive and process information, the stability of her nervous system,

How is that not good?

It must be reassuring for Julia to know now (after that physical examination) that her body won't hold her back. I still think that she and her team mistreated her body in the olympic season. Understandable, because short term results where necessary. Good to know that there don't seem to be lasting aftereffects. And I think it was always obvious that she is a very talented jumper. And now that she weights more and has more muscles her technique needs to be adjusted. I'll keep my fingers crossed for her today. And even if she doesn't do as well as she did yesterday she already showed that they shouldn't count her out just yet.

I know that the ladies free is ongoing, but I myself - whilst keeping track of the results - am just now catching up on the short programs. I just watched Julia's skate - and what a lovely moment! I felt so moved & happy for her! I actually always thought that the SP had potential - I thought that her movements were good, but that the expression was lacking. Not because Julia didn't feel the music - but because she couldn't get through a barrier of awkwardness, of it being outside her comfort zone, and so skated in a reserved manner. I thought that if she could just let herself go, and let the performance through, this program could really work. And yesterday she did. I'm so happy for her.:)

As a Liza fan first and foremost, I of course wanted her on the Euros/Worlds' team - but since that looks not possible now, I would want, since she can't go, that Julia could get to go. It would be such sweet redemption for her, and validation. I wish her the very best going into the free.:)

Best FS since Worlds 2014. By those PCS I think they really wanted her to make a comeback! Happy for Yulia, hoping now it's only on the way up. :luv17:

No euros/worlds for her this year, but it was stronger than previous comps, and at least she finished within top 6 of the senior age eligibles.

Hi everyone~I'm new here and I don't speak English so I may make mistakes. But ...I love Yulia! So moved by her sp yesterday. Pity she didn't do well in lp but I'm sure she will be stronger in the future, maybe she'll compete in Russia Cup Final? Just wish Yulia be confident about herself and enjoy a happy new year in her hometown

I agree that was her best FS since Worlds 2014. I had no expectation but I was hoping top 6, for the funds. Anyway, it was great to see such improvements. The loop, the lutz - which I thought it was even better today -, that Ina Bauer hold a bit longer (yes thank you ), and the overall skating. She finished the season on a higher note and that's a big satisfaction. Now go forward for the next season. :luv17:

Welcome to GoldenSkate!!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us and your words are understood quite well :) You'll find that I too am a huge fan of Julia. Hopefully we'll hear more from you as Julia continues to improve. 3 weeks with the new coach was not enough to fix all but I'm noticing improvements in her jump technique already. Plus she skates with her heart and with so much emotion. Anyway....post often and post long here at GS :cheer2:

I think she could actually try to go to another domestic tournament or maybe try to get a chance at one of the internationals in the beginning of the next year before finishing the season. If at least to get some more mileage to her FS, even though she will have another one for the season. But let's wait to see how Urmanov is going to want to work with her.

I don't think that's necessary at all, for this season. There is a lot of work to do and the best thing is start with a fresh ideas, programs and work on all the issues. I'm actually glad they will have much more time available to work together now.

I do hope she capitalizes on this momentum and does a few more competitions before next season, just so impressed with the almost immediate improvements.

The biggest question in my mind remains how much Urmanov will be able to assist in helping her make a mental shift, insofar as being ok with making a mistake and not allowing it to unravel the rest of the program. She's clearly a fighter from how well she rebounded in the short, so I'm confident that'll eventually get addressed.

She's mostly guaranteed two GPs next season, right (from the fed, not necessarily based on season's best)? Polina will still be a junior next year, so Julia is going to be in the top six of seniors (Sotskova probably moving up).

She went for a triple-half loop combination in the warmup but didn't do the third jump. I bet the plan was 3f-1lo-3s.

Her jumps were hit or miss in the warmup but the ones she is getting are better than ever. I'd like to see her do more events this year if possible....but....only if she has time to completely fix her FS. I love the music for that program. It's so subtle and maybe it takes a musician type to appreciate it but it is extremely deep and heartfelt music...well...that sums up her skating to me more than anything.

Good job holding on Julia!!
I believe this is a correct step towards even bigger improvement and better result!

It started out really good and she seemed to be feeling the music more and the refinement made by the team provided result.. They brought back more extensions/moves she used to do, which is nice. I still enjoyed her skating despite some glitches. I mean, a pop and a missing combo. Not bad and it's her best since about over a year so it's good. :agree2:

I was a little confused because obviously they redid the layout and I didn't know when the combo is supposed to be.. I know one is the 2A-2T (supposed to be 3T) but not sure where the other one should be.. first or second half, though I'm leaning more towards the second half because she didn't seem like missing anything in the first 3 jump passes.

That shot of her and Urmanov holding hands warmed my heart and love how he's comforting her. I hope she's keeping her head up because she showed improvement, not just for most of the jumps but also the artistic/performance side. And with him I'm sure he'll continue helping her towards the better result.

Keep on keeping on Julia!! :agree:
