Yulia Lipnitskaya

Poor Yulia had to bear an enormous psychological burden since the 2014 Olympics. Only until recently Alexei found an effective way to address the problem. It is so scary to think that she has been on the verge of giving up.

Really nice to know that she has renewed her love for figure skating. We are so blessed. :)

Going to sleep now. What a crazy day it has been!
Amen!

I think it is the best result for her this season. And very positive for the rest of her work with Urmanov.
First of all during interview she said that she didn't have time to work on her psychological issue in the free skate, she said that during the training she succeed to do her free program entirely without fault but that in competition there is always the psychological problem. She didn't had enough time to work on it with Urmanov, that's why she is nevertheless happy because her goal was to be in top 10 of the competition. Then she said that since she moved in sochi she just fall in love with figure skating. WOAWW what can be more beautiful and touching than this sentence ?? I think this is most important than any of the scores that a skater can have !!!
I also already talked with Alba ( by the way hello Alba :D) about the fact that in sport there are people who have to meet each other. I think a coach has to find his skater, and a skater has to find the coach who is going to help him being the best he can be. And Yulia found this person, I think this is a bright cooperation, and the work between the both is going to be tremendous !!! We just have to be patient and prepared to see our perfect yulia next season. I have the feeling that next season will be for her !!!

Sorry for my english who is still bad :pp

I'm so happy to hear these words! They show she has (again) fighting purposes and good intentions for the future. And the highly competitive jumps layout she tried during Nats is another proof. Urmanov has plenty of time to give us back the amazing skater capable of every triples and solid combos. I also think the season hasn't ended for her, since there'll be the Cup of Russia (in... February?) where she'll receive more inputs on what is better for her.

Finally got to watch the SP and LP on sketchy airport wifi. Just popping in to say how freakin' amazing and glorious it was to see Yulia genuinely LOVE performing/skating out there, something that I haven't seen in forever. That SP and the reaction that followed was a MOMENT, and as an uneducated, casual skating fan these 'moments' are what I remember and the reason that I watch skating, not the ranking or the score.

Congrats to Yulia, and an epic THANKYOU to Mr Urmanov for taking such great care of her! Cannot wait to see what the future has in store for them. *belated happy dance*

That step was already there with the old program when she was with her previous coach.

we all know, but it's so funny to see both doing this ;)

I can't imagine Eteri Tut. doing the same... if I think about it... it's something between hilarious and frightful :p

Seriously, what in the world happened in the 3 weeks since she started working with this new coach? Who is this girl even? I seriously thought the ice was going to melt from all the joy she was giving off...and on a scale of 1-10, her performance level was practically a Radionova.

Anyway, I am just very happy for Yulia at the end of this event. I hope she realizes that in so many ways, this was a huge win for her, despite placing 7th. I mean, it's still going to be a crazy, brutal batle from here on out with the field of Russian ladies being what it is, but at least her heart is in the right place now. I am glad to hear that she can love figure skating again, and she does seem to be genuine about it. I can't wait to see how this changes everything!

:hap10:

I love Megapolis!! Looking at her now and then it's obvious how much she's grown. What a gorgeous young lady she is.. That exuberance is so joyful to watch! She wants to do it. She loves skating. :luv17:

Sincerely wishing for her progress and growth to be an even better skater!

p.s. her struggle trying to sign for the fans..

I think one of the things Urmanov did for her, is give her an environment where she felt safe and protected, and free to be herself, and become comfortable in her own skin, so to speak, and rediscover her joy of skating and motivation. When things were at their most difficult, she must have oftentimes have wondered "What is the point? Why am I even doing this?" - she must have felt that she was standing still, getting nowhere, in the same, miserable, hopeless spot. Maybe she and Eteri saw eye to eye, and connected, when she was at her most driven - maybe her feeling lost and unmotivated because of it was something Eteri had difficulty understanding. I'm not trying to cast blame on Eteri - and this is only conjecture on my part, anyway - because nobody is good at everything. Sometimes... things just happen, and it doesn't have to be someone's "fault". But, the joyful thing is that Julia is happy now, and has found her right comfortable figure skating home, and she and Urmanov can keep on building on this going forward. :)

Also, I am so happy that he seems to understand the need to shield Julia from the media - just that in itself must be a huge weight off her shoulders!

And in honour of Julia's new re-beginning of her skating life

(What say you, Alba? I think this would suit Julia as well.:))

Shall we start fan fest for Urmanov? Based on the recent content of this thread, I'm sure he would get loads of love :agree:

But in all seriousness, I do so wish she would do some more competitions before the season is over. I'm greedy and I want to see those programs performed again. Or, would it be too much to ask Yuls to keep her LP for the next season? Santa, grant me another wish!
