Yuzuru's moe? Aegyo? Cuteness? Whatever you call it, even the security guy can't resist

I wanted to know what they were talking after Yuzuru's second 4T fall.
This tweeter read their lips.

Mura: It was low. Unusual for him, but low, I think.
Kozuka: Yes, it surely was low.

New Video this morning of interview with Hanyu-san and Shoma.

They said they mostly talk about games(video games) and call themselves gamers. Interviewer asked what they do outside of practice and they both said "sleep and play games!" Then the female host in the studio said she is relieved that Hanyu-san is showing a side like a normal 21 year old, in which the male host said "well, maybe he is top-class at playing too!"

My fan-art of the medalist guys at Nationals but especially Yuzu

Finale

Around 8:30, Yuzu nodded while satoko speaking. She looked shy!
To Satoko, her winning as the defending champion.
“Of course, I’m glad I was able to win the title in a row, but I have to keep it up towards World and 4CC.”

10:33 Last question,
What’s the plan on New Year’s vacation? (In japan, offices are closed from 29 to Jan.3 for New Year.)
Satoko
“I want to fully recover from fatigue of the season and have a good time with my family.”
Yuzu, after the hard the three competitions in a row.
“I’m afraid I can’t have much time to rest towards the end of year, but I want to get through this. And then I want to spend with my family even in a short time.”

They are photos #1, #2, #3, #4 . Are you able to see them now?

Sota and his 18yo-looking-brother Yuzu

That costume fit him like a glove . Another powerful photo.

Articles & News

Newest article Monday morning, he said he thought the best competition was NHK; GPF is where he grew the most. Regarding Worlds in Boston, he said of course he wants to win, but more importantly is how to do the same performance as in NHK and GPF. He again mentioned that he thought he needs to have more types of quads, will practice until March to see.

A very interesting interview with Shoma's coach Machiko Yamada. Yuzu is leading the way, and coaches are trying to catch up with him.

Yuzu will be a judge, and also be a guest of a special session of Hana wa Saku, where all the singers will sing along to a piano played by Yoshiki.
http://www.nhk.or.jp/kouhaku/topics/topic_151228a.html

Yes, he has to sit there during the whole show. It must be very tiring...
One group he likes will sing but they(BUMP OF CHICKEN) won't be in the hall. They will sing from their live show in Makuhari.
According to this article:http://www.nikkansports.com/sports/news/1585253.html, Yuzu said happily,"I like BUMP-san very much, so I'm excited! I will sing along with them." ← He means he will sing in his judge seat.

2201 - 2207

Nhk has just broadcasted one hour special program about Yuzuru and Nomura-san's talk about the art of performing. http://dai.ly/x3k5l2l

There is some extra footage that hasn't been aired before, Ayako Nakamura from facebook group has translated a bit of Yuzuru's words at the end

So one thing we know for sure he'll be doing at Kohaku is introucing the band BUMP OF CHICKEN's song RAY as they take the stage. He did not attend the rehearsal, but from the person that took his place, he'll introduce it as a song that he received great courage from.

Tsuzuki-sensei met up with Yuzu after nationals, very cute moment. I respect that Nanami-sensei doesn't like the spotlight and prefer to be behind the scenes but I really miss seeing her

Yuzuru walking to K&C after FS "that was so bad". At first I thought he was so mad he threw his jacket at the camera ...but it just slipped from his hands lol.

Love this moment with Keiji at the end, they look like regular students meeting up there Nice to see all the skaters having fun

And this is....?? Yuzuru as a squid?? Lol so many questions....

I already posted this really great program on the Japanese Skaters thread, but it has a lot of Hanyu-san in it so just posting it here for those interested. It contains scene of the meeting with Tsuzuki-sensei mentioned above, 4lz and 4lo attempt for Hanyu-san (Shoma trying a quad-combo and Mura trying a 4-4 combo). Lots of great scenes.

I don't know if you already seen this; there is a video on YouTube from Japan Nationals Gala practice showing Yuzuru attempting 4Lz but it was unfortunately under-rotated and he fell (ouch!) but it looked beautiful in the air.
A year ago I've heard Brian saying that he saw Yuzuru land a 4Lz once!
I hope by the 2018 Olympic we would see him do 4Lo, 4Lz, and even 4Axel!!!

But on good side quad loop looks quite consistent at least from what we are able to see

I believe we will see his try 4Lo this season (he is skipping 4CC, so he can have more time to practice and attempt 4Lo at WC) and 4Lz by 2018. (I believe his goal is to include 4Lz in his program by the Olympics. It depends on his success rate of 4Lz.) I'm not sure about 4A.

I quite agree, I've seen him land 5/6 4Lo on YouTube over the past 2 years (I think :scratch3:) which is a good sign, but only with high speed going into the jump plus amazing knee bend to get the free leg back in time!
The 4Lz needs more time and practice but I think he feels inspired by Jin's easiness with 4Lz that he is considering it for next season or the one after.

Thank you alia for the links :cheer:

One thing;

This is Yuzuriha Jinja (Shrine)

but, this is Seimei Jinja (Shrine)

It seems Akiko Suzuki also visited this shrine :)
You can see her Ema under Yuzuru's.

Oh, a bit late but, A HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone :hap10:

My best wishes to you all !!

Didnt Akiko visit the shrine awhile ago for an Asachan broadcast talking about the potential of Yuzu scoring +200 in the free skate?

I decided to have a look at the base values of quadruple jumps:

http://sk8stuff.com/traindocs/5_levels_perspective.pdf

4T 10.3
4S 10.5
4Lo 12.0
4F 12.3
4Lz 13.6
4A 15.0

There's a big jump between 4S 10.5 to 4Lo 12.0.
The 4F is only 0.3 higher than 4Lo.
There's another big jump between 4F 12.3 to 4Lz 13.6.

Conclusion: It does make sense to train for the 4Lo and 4Lz and skip the 4F (except for completion's sake). If a skater has enough time in his career to learn three different quads, then choose one from 4T/4S, one from 4Lo/4F and the last one will be 4Lz.

4Lo is not an easy as 4S (not that none of them are easy :laugh2:). So, to avoid zayaking skaters like Yuzuru that already have two 3As and two 4Ts naturally go for 4S before 4Lo.

Looks like the 2018 Olympic FS goal might be to do a 4 different quad programme with two 3A's.

Example:

4Lz
4Lo
4S
4T + 3T
3A
3A + 1Lo +3S
3F
Choice for last combo jump:
A. If he fully rotates all 4 quads or pops one quad into a double --- 3Lz + 3T or 3Lo + 3T
B. If he pops one of the quads into a triple --- 3Lz +2T or 3Lo + 2T

Alternate: A 5-quad programme with one repeated quad plus two 3A's? I think this is too physical draining to be done properly at Yuzu-level.

4Lo is not an easy as 4S (not that none of them are easy :laugh2:). So, to avoid zayaking skaters like Yuzuru that already have two 3As and two 4Ts naturally go for 4S before 4Lo.

Another thing that I heard is the Yuzu's training for the 4Lo stabilizes the 4S, so a skater can kill two quads birds at the price of one quad training stone. (If this makes any sense. :laugh2:)

I seriously don't think Yuzuru will be able to put 4Lz in his layout, he only has two years and the jump doesn't seem consistent at all.

Oh my lord! :dbana:

You mean Arashi's aiaiaiaiai song?
(I think more correctly it would be called ai wo sakebe, but I like mine better )

Yeah, that one  and I'm not even into j-pop music :thank:
I liked Bump of chicken performance (just the band's name don't make sense to me :scratch2:) - Yuzu has a nice taste (I preferred a little more harder stuff at his age :laugh2: )
And Golden Bomber where hilarious :rofl2:
