Because his name is 結弦, written ゆづる in hiragana. One of the prononciation for 弦 (bowstring) is つる (tsuru) but in this case with another kanji before, it's become づる (zuru).

In fact ゆづ or ゆず, it's the same sound (or at least in university we didn't make any difference).
But ゆず (yuzu) it's the fruit 柚子, not the same at all^^.
But since our yuzu and the fruit are homonymes, it gives a lot of funny fanarts...and a lot of fan loves products with the yuzu citrus fruit scent or taste :)

Thanks for the explanation! And now that also explains something else that would have went over my head regarding Yuzu and citrus fanart. I studied Japanese in college, had a personal teacher, watched anime, visited Japan multiple times, currently watching some J-drama I got hooked on when I was there in the summer, etc., but there are definitely a lot of little quirks lol. Your kanji explanation makes sense though. Kanji remains an impossible mountain to climb lol (I'm laughing on the outside and crying on the inside). I have a good friend who's originally from Boston that moved there 8 years ago to teach English and she still has problems with Kanji, though she speaks Japanese fluently. She was in one of the towns affected by the tsunami and she actually got to wave at Yuzu in his parade when he returned from Sochi! She said he was really cute lol.

The tweet won't translate for me. Am I missing something obvious here, other than the two pictures?
Milk Tea brings back semi-fond memories of my visit to the snowy Aomori region in northern Honshu. I found it in a vending machine, and... it was terrible. I was expecting hot tea with milk. I'm not sure what it was, but it wasn't hot, and it certainly didn't taste anything like tea with milk. At least not my kinda tea with milk. ;)

I watched Onmyoji II. Now I saw better how good idea had Yuzuru to skate to this music related to the character of Abe No Seimei. It was very nice to see Yuzuru moves in film. :luv17:
+1. I highly recommend taking the time and watch these two movies, yes, both of them. They are really worth the time, and add so much understanding to the SEIMEI FS. Also recommended if you like stories about friendship between two guys.

Just an update on the rumor started by Josei Seven, on Yahoo Sports.
http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20160108-00000115-sph-spo

Yuzu says "I don't know how this happened. They say there is no smoke without a fire, but there is no fire here. She is a class mate, I'm very shocked by the rumor. This person mentioned, is now inconvenienced (a more emphatic word than inconvenienced is used) and so are the fans.
I'm very sorry."

I doubt the publication will apologize to Yuzu for spreading gossip, but I hope no one believes anything they say from now on.

Good job Yuzu for denying and stopping this rumor before it gets bigger. Hope Yuzu, the girl and all the fans can move on from this. It is not worth Yuzu or our energy to think about this anymore. He now can put this behind him and focus his energy on the bids to win back worlds title...we would focus on cheering him on :hap10:

Isn't that the same magazine that spread the rumours?

No, the magazine that started the rumors was called Josei Seven, though other outlets picked it up and copied it.
Oh, I see, the way I wrote the post made it confusing. I will change the wording.

Hundreds of young girls give a collective sigh of relief.

"Our hopes have not been dashed. We still have a chance to be Mrs Hanyu."

oh sorry, I get it now thank you!. I was thinking how shameless was from the magazine to report his answer without them apologizing :noshake:. I guess we won't hear a word from them on their mistake.

Shouldn't the hundreds read thousands??
How he is not terrified at the prospect i"ll never know.

The third article on Phil Hersh's new website has nice words from Jason Brown re Hanyu:

Brown on skating rival Hanyu: "He is changing the sport"

ETA:
Forgot to say earlier that in the very first article (Jan 6) on the new Globetrotting site, Hanyu was recognized as one of Hersh's picks for his 2015 awards. Don't know whether it already was mentioned in the thread.
