Kind of cross-promoting myself here LOL I know some people here don't go to The Edge, so I thought I'd share something I posted in the 'Who Should Skate to This?' thread:

Hanyu and Ravel, Une barque sur l'ocean (André Laplante)

Similar to melmel's great:agree: edit of Ballade no 1 to New World Symphony, I edited his MOI 'Requiem of Heaven and Earth' to this beautiful and flowing Ravel piece about a ship sailing on the ocean. His effortless glide, the rise and fall of his movements, the contrast between serenity and crashing waves, the tragedy and anguish, the hope, his costume, the oceanic blue light, all of it comes together really nicely. He becomes the physical and emotional embodiment of water.

If you take a look, I'd love to get feedback. I don't have permission from the uploader Japan Figure Skating so please don't reupload it anywhere  I'm still in search of a HD video source to use so I can upload it publicly because it was originally just made for my own viewing pleasure, but I thought the results turned out unexpectedly good so I'd just like to share them with the small group of people here on GS

I've also been trying to edit some of his programs to Ravel's Lever du jour (imagine a 4T+3T starting around 0:55! :drama:), but it's much harder!

Thank you guys for the information.

It seems the Des'ree song was used first in R&J (with DiCaprio) and then in Tristan & Isolde again as long as considering the released year. Anyway, I think I should see both movies

I felt the songs used in Tristan & Isolde were beautiful, and want Yuzuru to use them someday even as EX.

By the way, how do you think about Blackmore's Night songs for Yuzuru's programs? The lyrics may sound too strong for competitions, so for EX? IMO, Yuzuru seems to prefer instrumental pieces (or, + a little lyrics) for competition programs.

Wow that was absolutely beautiful !! I love it :D (and welcome to the editing club ! :yes2: )

I'm brainstorming about the Howl one right now, still thinking about which program would fit the best :) (my mind keep going to Papadakis and Cizeron when I listen to it so it doesn't help XD)

Except that Gargamel already caught the smurf.

Totally agree with your description.. Further, the lightning on the venue totally matched the music, didn’t it? (For me, he looks like Undine or so also… Something fantastic…)
Daphnis et Chloe, such a beautiful sound… Yes, 4T3T part is first climax and we want to enjoy the part with an impressive piece…

I know your feelings… It was a magical performance. :hijacked: (Thanks for your work!)

In my humble opinion I'd say any piece would be good when the one dancing it is Yuzu.

But the day he skates to THIS MUSIC is the day I die:

I want shae to choreograph to this piece! It’s her field!

Yes, he's like a water sprite from Arthurian legends or mythology. The lighting really contributes to the atmosphere. The solo spot-light at the very end is like the first beacon of light bursting through the clouds after a storm. The camera work at MOI was also really good, the camera did long pans alongside the length of the rink so you can see how fast he's skating across the ice and his full-body movements.

I like the choices in this thread of Celtic music and Tango pieces, I think Shae-Lynn would be really good at stuff like that. She's also really good with rock numbers, so I'd love some Pink Floyd  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVBCE3gaNxc

Wow… What a lovely imagination. Yes, the camera work at MOI helps.. It’s sometimes shame too much close up prevent us from his overall movements, expressions…

Shae can get him chic, dancing, stylish program!:agree: Lyrical and passionate piece… Perfect with yuzu!

Lovely editing ! it is beautiful :luv17:
This is the video of the event held in Sendai in 2012. I think I missed this program when it was aired originally, so I'm happy I could see it today :) Thank you for the uploader.
