Not a huge fan of TSL but very very nice words about Yuzu from Tracy Wilson http://youtu.be/uR1d6ea78kw

Edit: if this interview was tape recently, then Yuzu should be coming back in about 1 week to Toronto (according to Tracy)

I remember I left home at dawn, it was very cold but there were no clouds in the sky. Irrevocably I thought it was the first light of the Day Yuzuru Hanyu would have entered History, that feeling was so strong .

Since then I use to watch the sky everytime Yuzu competes somewhere in the world ...
that's a beautiful habit to do :luv17:
I have been following him since 2011 , so Sochi gold was greatest gift for me . I was watching live with my husband's grandma and when he won we were hugging each other in the middle of the room :)) Also after GPF 2013 I had a bet with my friend that he will win and I won :yahoo:
Thank you my boy for making my life better and congrets !
so sweet that you all huged each other, it really was a powerful moment.

Happy Valentine and 2nd anniversary of Olympic gold to Yuzu and everyone :peace:

Yuzu's Golden Olympic moments
- His sportsmanship...helping Machida, bowing to audience/javi/coach, cheering for Javi
- Yuzu and his idol
- Cute off-ice fall
- Running towards the bus dragging his trolley bag and bowed to the journalists/media
- Team event SP and K&C
- "I did it!", 101.45
- When he thought the gold was lost, "Katta!...oh my god!...I'm first?", papa and student hug
- proud papa moment at flower ceremony, the lady presenter patted his cheek
- medal ceremony
- Gala the White Legend performance especially the long sit back and twizzle on one leg (not sure the name of that move) and dancing with Yulia.
......and many more other moments I'm sure.

I love that we have many Yuzu's moments at every events captured by the official camera, media, fancams, fans' tweets which mostly made into fanarts etc. For every event I believe we can have at least an hour of Yuzu moments video.

Edit to add: Thank you to his family, all his coaches (BOrser, Nanami Abe, Tsuzuki, coaches when he was younger and Pooh), his teams (Mrs Kobayashi, Mr. Kikuchi, etc), his friends, his fans and everyone that has helped & supported him throughout his journey as a skater and a person.

Well said and Amen to all that, Alia! :agree:

Re "the long sit back and twizzle on one leg," I've read it being called "sitting twizzles."

For those who haven't watched it yet, here is a brilliant recap video of Yuzuru's Sochi experience by Sugar Autumn containing many of the moments Alia had mentioned. The same video edit by Sugar Autumn this time set to the dramatic "Carmina Burana" music by Ana (WhateverHime). The video links had been posted before in this thread and bear rewatching on this anniversary of Yuzuru's Olympic win.

I enjoyed all the posts reminiscing experiences watching Yuzuru win the gold medal in Sochi. I became a fan after watching his 2012 Worlds LP, but it was upon watching this video some time later that I just had this clear presentiment that this boy would be Olympic champion in Sochi. Maybe the author of that video also thought the same because the way it was made seemed to point out that he was destined for great things. For me, it was sweet to see him achieve his heart's desire in Sochi after working so hard training in a foreign land. I could relate because I was then a homesick (very) graduate student.

This reminds me...the night before the GPF short program, I was doing some stargazing and when I saw a shooting star, I wished for Yuzu to be able to do his best in the competition :agree: We looked at the same sky :luv17:

Really nice interview from Tracy  The coaching team at TCC has helped Yuzu a lot, they not only care about him as a skater but as a person as well.

This conversation seems to have been recorded today based on TSL's post earlier this morning, so it probably means he'll be back in Toronto next week.

I have this crazy idea. If he is going back to Canada next week, is it possible he will go to Taiwan this week to watch 4CC live ?

Even though he's not in Canada yet, Yuzu trains where ever he happens to be. So going to Canada is for the final fine-tuning of his programs.

 I forgot to add Tracy Wilson, choreographers (Jeffrey Buttle, David Wilson, Shae, Russian team for R&J1), Nanami's husband Yoshida-san & people of Sendai, his team mates, JSF/TCC, photographer Sunao Noto, his idols & senpais.....I'm sure there are many more people that I've missed or behind the scene who has supported Yuzu in his journey.

No worries Alia as in your original post you thanked everyone who had helped and supported Yuzuru as a skater and as a person. :) They are all there in spirit and intent if not by name.

Tracy gives a lot of credit to Brian in the interview, but I believe she also deserves a lot of credit herself for helping make Yuzuru the champion skater that he is.

And she pointed out the characteristic of Yuzuru which to me is the secret to his success: his high degree of self-awareness. He and his skating appear so genuine and authentic to us because he is honest with himself. Shakespeare (who else?) said it best I think: "To thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man."

Thank you Meimoa for posting this! I struggle with calling the steps so this is very helpful. But do you know why the RBI loop in the FS is called as invalid?
Because it's more like a transition from edge to toe, so it doesn't count. I'm not sure it's deliberate or not. Maybe the move was intentional or maybe it was supposed to be a loop.

Toronto was very cold this weekend, -25C and worse with the wind chill (-30s), and I was thinking it would have been bad for people with asthma etc., so I was glad when I read Yuzu wasn't here. Instead we had the NBA All Star Game and the poor basketball players were all complaining about our cold... but so were we! I stayed home all weekend. Really, this was the coldest it's been since 1994!!! We have been pretty warm compared to normal this year.

As for Tracy's interview, it was amusing to hear that someone basically reamed Yuzu out for somehow bothering him during a run through. She said it was years ago, and I can believe it because I cannot imagine a younger skater getting angry with him now, lol. They'd probably be too intimidated even though he's as polite and nice as you can get.

Oh ok thanks! (And sorry for messing up your name, typing on a phone is awful)

But still even years ago, he is a world bronze medalist... :slink:
