Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

Why not 3A3Lo

Because he wants to repeat both 3a and 3lz to maximize his bv. If he adds 3lo after 3a and keeps the 3a-1lo-3s combo, then he can't repeat the 3lz without losing bv. (If he does two 3lz, one of the 3lz must be in combination to receive full bv.) So the 3lo must be attached to the 3lz if he wants to repeat 3lz.

----
ETA: if his 3lz3lo success rate in practice is not high enough, he will do 3a3t instead.

So any bets ? If Hanyu decides to do quad loop at Worlds will he go for it in both short and long ?

I am among those who prefer he does it in his LP if he will go for the 4Lo. There are more jumping passes in the LP where he can recoup points from a missed 4Lo.

Re the 3Lz-3Lo combo, I am more than a tad anxious about it remembering Yuzuru's past troubles with his 3Lz-3T combo where he'd land forward on his 3Lz ("break waist") and thus have difficulty with the second jump of the combo. It will be more difficult with the 3Lo where you have to repower on the landing leg.

But (takes deep breath) whatever Yuzuru decides to put out there, I am sure he has successfully done in practice time and time again. I will try to quell my fan auntie's apprehensions and take Brian's advice to Yuzuru to trust in his training. Really hoping and praying that after the tears and heartbreak of last season, he will win Worlds for the second time.

Maria Victoria: I agree what you said !

My opinion: 4 Lo he will do in FS as first jump - new jump first time at all in competition takes maximum concentration and maximum power.
As far as I remember Hanyu never did a loop jump (Rittberger ) in combo ( exept that in between 1 Lo in: 3A 1Lo 3 S). The rest of his FS he will keep - not too much changes, I think he will keep 3 L 3T if his Lutz goes "pfft" he always can add a 3T somehow ..

Oh - toeloop: I add a deep bow for Hanyu san: Now I know why he off ice jumps his toe-loop like a jumped in rotation jump. Takahashi did it off ice like toe axel. When I do my 2 T in my head like Takahasi - no way - its taking me to the left away from my right side, I remember seen a Video Takeshi Honda (jump coach of Takahashi) just describing this as a problem in Takahashis 4 T - his left side little too fast and result a wobbly rotation. When I do it in my head like Hanyu I can stay behind my right side..i didnt do it the last days, my 2 T baaaaaad. Arigato Hanyu san!!!

There is an inner glow radiates through, he really is beautiful and that hydroblade is :luv17:. Lovely to see he's teaching the girl how to present the flower, so graceful and stylish.

And then,at the performance, the girl didn't do what Yuzu had told her, and he was like: :scratch2::laugh:. Poor Yuzu hahaha

Just to add:

If anyone wants their banner to be on TV during World's FS, make one that says "First Quadruple Loop in ISU-sanctioned event!"

Once Yuzu successfully jumped the 4Lo, take out the banner and wave like crazy. :yahoo:

I can imagine the B.ESP guys would say, "That quadruple loop was a cracker! Oh look, some very intelligent fans already knew Yuzuru would be successful in his first attempt of the quad loop and made a banner for this sole purpose. If that does not indicate how passionate Yuzuru's fans are, I don't know what is."

(Of course, if Yuzu did not do the quad loop, or if he falls or under-rotate, quietly fold back the banner and save it for next season.) :slink:

someone totally needs to do this

I do agree with those who predict that Hanyu will minimally change the overall layout of his program, simply replacing the first quad toe with the loop and then upgrading the triple axel-double toe to a triple-triple. This would be least disruptive to the program as it was constructed and would still add probably 5 or 6 points to his base value.

He did alter his short program quite a bit but I am wondering, with the amount of time he has before worlds would he go back to the original layout and have his combination as the last jump element? This clearly isn't a stamina issue since he's proven he's capable of doing a reasonably solid quad-triple in the second half of his long program.

I think he will probably do 4Lo first and 4S second in the LP because 4Lo is a new jump and he may need a longer set up for it. If his 3Lz3Lo is consistent in practice, he will add that to the program too.

I don't think he will have the combination jump as the last jump in the SP. If he does make a change to the SP, it would be replacing 4S with 4Lo or move the quad combo to the 2nd half, but not as the last jump. I don't think this is very likely. He only adds consistent jumps to the SP and 4Lo is yet to be proven as a consistent jump in competition. Also moving the quad combo to the 2nd half requires significant change to the program (and his 4t3t in the 2nd half isn't that consistent in competition yet). Since he is making a lot of changes to his LP, I don't think he has time to change his SP again.

Hi everyone, I am a newbie but I am lurking around here for a while. Thank to all your post, I've learned many things about Yuzu and FS. This thread is like a text book of "Yuzu 101" course and I wish they cover this course in university, I will study really hard!
I decide to "debut" today because today is the day Yuzu became the Olympic Champion two years ago! Happy anniversary! Congrats Yuzu and all Yuzu's fan!

Welcome. I like your sense of timing. :)

And going down memory lane, here are two Sochi Olympic videos on Yuzuru from vimeo: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-KNgAxD6pnc&autoplay=1 (backgrounder on Yuzuru and noting the irony of the situation of his coach Brian Orser) and https://vimeo.com/102521948 (BBC commentary of Robin Cousins and Sue Barker with Viet subs on Yuzuru's historic Olympic SP).

Happy Hearts Day to everyone! :)

Welcome!

so desu ne! (just a Japanese expression!)
First I chose the name "YuzuHolic" but it's not available so I change to 4everYuzu, well it may be similar to 4everchan but totally not related, I devote myself to one and only Yuzu!
Time to World seems thousands year long so this thread is my savior from IYHS! (lol I laughed so hard when I read the post about this syndrome, back to the time before World 2015 I think so, because of his mysterious disappear?! :scratch2: )
I kill my time when waiting for Yuzu's re-appearance by reading over 2000 pages of this thread and learn many useful things. :) Once again thank you guys so much :luv17: You are all so knowledgeable, positive, funny and kind! :) I am totally an amateur in FS and only start watching this sport after knowing Yuzu in his performance at NHK trophy, so "Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!" (Just another expression in Japanese when someone is a newbie and introduce him/herself to a community!) (By the way, I am not Japanese, but I am studying in Japanese and try to improve my Japanese, Yuzu is one of my motivation, hope that in future I can translate something! :) )
