Yulia Lipnitskaya

She was holding her lower back a lot during the practice session and during the warm-up. That and she didn't really fully extend during the Ina Bauer has me wondering if she has hurt her back. I thought she looked a bit guarded today.

Her jumps have a great potential now. She floats and carries a slow flow to them. Hopefully she can gain some confidence in them again because they are really nice when done well.

Good luck in the FS and hopefully show some improvement. Regardless of the results she'll always be my favorite ;)

Seems like a fluke fall...usually when she has a mistake it's a pop so atleast she went for it. It looks like she is rotating a bit slower so that might have been the problem...fatigue or new technique? I actually like how much higher she gets now so I hope she's just working on a new technique. The LP is the real measure of where she is in her comeback.

In short - she's not pleased with her perfomance (though A. Urmanov says it was emotional, and the first half was gorgeous and then a mistake). She says, she still has problems with cascade during practicing and her mistakes are not because of being tired or being unfit. Everything is in her head. So she'll keep working.

I can't post the link now, but on the same channel with her SP training in the last page, there's her FP. She's probably doing the same layout from RN with 2 2a+3t and a 3lz+2t, all in the second half.

Im quite surprised with Yulia's new dress..I mean, there's no point in changing it since its the last of the season already..hmmnn UNLESS she's going to Worlds..Im still hopeful though(fingers crossed)..

She did well and steadily improving, but I don't think she is ready for a big stage and do well there. Plus she must travel to US for it if she were to take part in WC for probably a mediocre result at the best. Not worth it. Better to stay home and aim for the next season.

That was so nice to see!! Even with one fall you felt the emotion and the choreography finally seemed to come together. She popped up so quick from the fall and seemed to fight harder. Very positive sign.

That loop jump at the beginning is amazing. The judges can shower that thing with GOE all day. She is clearly still a bit shaky with the combos but that's ok. Summer project most likely. ;)

I'm willing to bet we'll see this gorgeous free skate again next year.

Maybe she wanted a change, regardless on how late it is to do so. IMO, I prefer this new dress, the other blue one made her look too much like a schoolgirl.

A mediocre result is bit too harsh, but I do think going to World may be too soon (and not her main goal, since she said she wanted to fix her problems first). But the Russian fed will decide soon enough if they let Anna go or change their plans...

Good job at the Russian Cup, but i really hope next season she will change the layout of the FP: she needs a 3-3 in the first half to be competitive.

I think for Worlds, Liza would be a better choice: Julia is perfect in the SP but the FS is still a work in progress.

Yeah maybe she just wanted some changes but practically speaking since russian cup is not a big event and i dont think she'll use the dress next season there's no sense in changing the old one..

On the other hand, I myself like this dress too its better than the other one..

I think Anna will go to Worlds at this point even with her issues at the EC- unfortunately I don't think Julia did well enough here that they'll replace her, and Liza chose not to even go and try for the spot.

I think that Julia is doing just awesome and consistent and real improvement is the most we can ask for at this point, and she is definitely showing us that.

In the interview she said that they had plans to change dress mid-season all the way back in Summer, when training with Zueva. She mentioned that back then she imagined that the season would go much better than it actually did. She had to change the dress after all, apparently because she lost weight and the blue dress got all baggy on her.
