Boyang Jin

My sister said "I didn't want it to happen, but Boyang has made me a fan!" He has a really attractive personality. It draws people in.

I have the same exact feelings as your sister!

At first, people were always talking about how Boyang was "just" a jumping machine and had no charisma whatsoever, but after watching him at 2015 CoC, he shocked me. He definitely has a talent for presentation. He just needs the right choreography.

..... I have not been into a jumping machine.... but Boyang was a totally in a different school.... After watching his two programs at Taipei last week, he has his own characteristic and charisma. I LOVE Boyang! There are more things to be done but as we can see, he already knows the things to do. Lets hope he does well at Worlds in Boston!

Count me in as well, that's exactly what I feel too! His jumps are spectacular and he seems to have a good musicality as well. And he's such a charming guy  It's hard not to like him...!

I've become a big fan of Boyang's tango SP, especially his 4cc performance! I've watched it a number of times... and for the artistic enjoyment.

Yeah...I really enjoy that program. Back in November people were going bonkers over the 4z-3t for obvious reasons and people expressed an interest in a slow motion video to study it. I was surprised at how many other moments from that SP caught my attention. The way some people went on and on about a lack of artistry I was pleasantly surprised when I got to break down the program. Not sure if I ever posted it over here or not. :o:

After watching Boyang's 4CC programs, I think he has the artistry and potential to get high PCS. Yes, his skating lacks speed during the sequences, but speed is not the only thing that define artistry. He extends his whole body and connects to the music on every move, which is shown in Sam Skwantch's video. If we compare his performance in CoC and 4CC, it is even more surprising to see how much he has improved in every aspects, more speed, more stable jumps, and more artistry.

Still, his biggest problem is choreographer IMO the short program is okay, although tango may not be the perfect match for him, but the long program just exposes his weaknesses blatantly to everyone.

Boyang is one of my favorite male skaters now, I really look forward to the day when he becomes unbeatable!

He's going to Lori next season (not sure if he'll get both SP and FS from her). Lori can give him a decent choreography for sure but I'm really not sure if her choreography works for him... :scratch2:

Not only Boyang is charming, sweet & mischievous, he also has a caring and thoughtful nature.

Watch his 4CC LP in either the NBC or Eurosport version where you can hear him quite clearly saying in Mandarin to his coach the following after his marks came up:

(translated from Mandarin to English)

Boyang: "Yan Han, how did he do?"

Coach: "He is no.2"

When I first heard that, I couldn't believe it. Most skaters are mostly concerned about themselves and their own marks and rankings while sitting in the K & C with their coach but not our Boyang, he is concerned about his own teammate Yan Han, he knew he would medal either the Gold/Silver at that point but he was also thinking about his teammate Yan Han. It just makes me like him even more.

His 4CC SP and LP are the only current men's programs that I watch over and over again.

He seems to get along quite well with Team China members. But regarding the KC conversation, probably our boy just wanted to know whether Han is above or below him?

You might be right skatefan22.

Our boy Boyang asked the question after his own results and rank was posted which was of course '1'. Hence, that is how I interpreted that he knew he was leading then and there but didn't know how Yan Han did. What do you think?

I don't think Boyang needs deep analysis. He doesn't have expectation for himself when he competes and accepts his results as they are. Han is his friend and the one he knows best among all the competitors so he was curious and cared about his result and he straight out asked about it. Who would win was probably irrelevant to his concerns. I'm sure sharing the podium with his buddy made him happy.

Yes you are right, Violet bliss. It is this nature that makes him so likable.

We like him so much not only for his huge skating abilities but also his wonderful endearing nature.

I forgot he was placed 1st. So I think you are right. He indeed cares about the result for his teammate. :agree:

Yeah - I love watching it too, I think that he's underscored in PCS - to me it's unfair. That quad lutz is mind-blowing too. Who would have thought that such jumps would be within somebody's grasp and tried by others (with lesser success but still) 10 years ago?

Look what I've found! THIS is why Boyang is landing his 4lutz so consistently. THIS is real confidence! (not the most flattering camera angle by the way, but he doesn't care:drama:)

He posted a video/ at that time live stream of 1h 36min lenght (!!!) with him doing absolutely NOTHING except for:

- almost falling asleep for the first 20 minutes or so
- him walking around, buying his coffee and cake, waiting for coffee and cake to arrive for 10min
- him drinking coffee and eating cake for 45min

:laugh2::rofl2::rofl::luv17::bow:

they also talk a little bit during the video but I don't really understand what they're saying .. Maybe a helpful native speaker can enlighten us, but from what I could understand, it's things like: oh coffe is here, wow the sun shines really hard etc.

I wasn't so crazy to have watched the whole thing without fast forwarding it, but for anyone interested, here's the link:

Edit: and he showed the music on his phone, saying it's Justin Bieber

Oh WOW, so this is young boyang at the junior GPF: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x180q3t_jgpf-2013-boyang-jin-sp_sport

Look at what some transitions and choreography can do to his skating:laugh: I'm really impressed and think he has a natural musicality that right now, he just can't back up with Skating Skills. But he certainly is a performer and could become really great. Also, am I wrong or does it seems like his SS were better back then?
