I hope the first thing Shpilband is going to change is their twizzle sequence. It was just annoying to see how that change of edge prevented them to get a GOE higher than 1 or 2. They are actually amazing twizzlers, but their twizzles were constructed in a way, that was no way for the judges to give them a GOE of +3.
One of the very first things I thought was 'oh thank god, he will fix the twizzles'.I want Shibs twizzles. Can they have Shibs twizzles? I'm so in love them this season.:luv17:One of the very first things I thought was 'oh thank god, he will fix the twizzles'.

True.:yes:I would say Ruslena should raise the bar and even do 5 twizzles intead of just the 4 the Shibs are doing![]()

(I have no idea if there's still bad blood between them or not. Both are mature, professional adults who probably moved on long ago.)I hope the first thing Shpilband is going to change is their twizzle sequence. The rsport blurb makes it sounds like it is a temporary thing with Shpilband. Not sure how I feel about a possible permanent switch at this point. I think they are just panicking. K/A were good coaches for them. A collaboration with Shpilband is great, I fully support it, but moving to the US full time to work with him? Not sure. K/A have strengths that Shpilband does not have and of course vice versa. I wouldn't say that Shpilband has more political clout than K/A. Also, Shpilband could use a boost right now, considering his top US team just got kicked off the top spot on the podium.
I will say that there is something to be said for being in the right environment that breeds success. Canton Michigan is a magnet for talent and the area breeds competitiveness and hard work, its the Harvard of ice skating...LOL... and the american system suits that kind of set-up.
I guess we'll have to see how it plays out for I/Z.
Shpilband is one of the most influential ice dance coaches of the past 10 years. He brought plenty teams to Olympic and World medals. The best Kustarova could do were two European silver medals. How come you think he hasn`t more political clout than Kustarova?
Regarding C/B, they still received higher PCS than the Shibs in the 4CC FD and that`s with the Shibs entering the competition as reigning National Champion.

Panicking. No, cannot agree with you on this one. Completely sensible in my book. The only hope I/Z have of making the team is if they can swing the international judges to their side through Igor. That is how it works in Russia. You either produce the results or you're dumped. If you make improvements and are trained by a well respected coach, the odds of you making the team improve. Performing at Russian Nationals is a mere formality. There have been notable exceptions namely I/K in the Olympic year, but at that time the pickings were exceedingly slim. They are not at this time. The only other way they'll see the light of a WC or EC is to change federations and they haven't gone there, so I'm choosing to be optimistic. I'm a fan so I'm choosing to hope for their best. If Carmen was any indication this team has it in them to be spectacular![]()

I think if they want to make a coaching change, now is the right time. It`s two years until the next Olympics and they have lost a lot of ground. I think with the right strategy they can get very far. I agree a coaching change isn`t a guarantee for success, just look how the coaching change for P/I worked out compared to H/D. But this season made it clear that something had to change and this trial period with Shpilband is a first step in the right direction, IMO.
Well, I guess they know what they're doing. I am always cautious of making too many changes all at once. Switching to Shpilband is a pretty big change. New coach, new system, new country... etc, not like moving from US to Canada. Not what I would have chosen to add to my rebuilding strategy.
But, maybe it will be a great motivator for them. And if it is just a collaboration that could work greatly to their advantage and maybe the overall change will be really good.
As I said, Canton is a great place, full of excellent teams, that is certainly a great training environment.
On FSU morqet translated Elena`s interview and Igor sent them a schedule. Apparently, they are going to work with hip hop, ballet and lift specialists. Sounds very exciting.
Detroit Blues
Detroit blues is blues music played by musicians resident in Detroit, Michigan, particularly that played in the 1940s and 50s. Detroit blues originated when Delta blues performers migrated north from the Mississippi Delta and Memphis, Tennessee to work in Detroit's industrial plants in the 1920s and 30s. Typical Detroit blues was very similar to Chicago blues in style. The sound was distinguished from Delta blues by its use of electric amplified instruments and a more eclectic assortment of instruments, including the bass guitar and piano. The biggest Detroit blues performer to achieve international fame was John Lee Hooker, as record companies and promoters have tended to ignore the Detroit scene in favor of the larger, more influential Chicago blues. The Detroit scene was centered on Black Bottom/Hastings Street, a Detroit neighborhood.
Except it's not in Canton, it's Novi.
If I had a choice, it would be Linichuk but she seems to have left coaching. But I guess they are doing the three months to see if they like living in suburban Detroit, sharing the ice with a lot of teams of similar level, and potentially having Trump as President (and in the horrifying event that happens, will he kick Ruslan out of the country for being a Muslim?).
I'm actually beginning to worry, people really believe Trump can win this? :eekn:
topic:After the most recent caucuses in South Carolina I think he really might get the nomination. I don't think he can win the actual election though. In any case (and I wish I was kidding but I am not) I am pretty sure Trump actually means the muslims who have brown skin and look 'scary' so Ruslan should be safe. I doubt Trump knows a white person can be a Muslim.
Sorry for thetopic:
