Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

I think he is invited to the premiere, if I read it correctly. (I can't find where I read it now.) TCC is not an important competition. It's perfectly normal for him to decline. All the other top skaters declined. Javier, Patrick and Mao all declined because they have other commitments (Patrick and Mao are not nominated by the team captains). This also shows TCC is not their priority. They wouldn't commit themselves to other activities if they think TCC is an important event.

I think I was comparing it with the WTT since it's also team competition, but since the JSF was the host I guess it was harder to decline.

JSF also states in the rules that skaters cannot decline the WTT invitation. I think if Yuzuru has the option to decline, he would've declined WTT too unless he has some special reasons to attend.

really? wow my japanese is really bad lol. Thank you.

Don't worry. He said "Shigemura de aru" in old Japanese that was used when a person of authority announced himself; which is equivalent to "Shigemura desu/da." You can only hear this expression in history movies or dramas

Yuzuru looks imposing for sure with this phrase

I forgot about that little big detail , thanks for clarifying.

Oh I see  thank you :luv17:

I wonder if Patrick and Mao were invited at all. Did they have raiting that high in order to be invited as of Jan 1st? I doubt that. Even as 3rd spot for a fan voting?

I thought the fan voting pick just had to be on their country's world team, so I think Patrick and Mao qualify for the fan vote.

Well, I remember not JSF, but ISU states in the rules that skaters must decline with a justifiable reason and those who decline are not allowed to join any ice shows during the event. I feel that WTT is more of a serious event than TCC. And as for Yuzu, he said he was very eager to compete at WTT because he wanted to revenge. Also, WTT is about team Japan which I think he is willing to fight for.

I have read in other threads that Patrick and Mao have already committed to ice shows at or near the time of TCC. :( I think that is the reason why they are not up for fan voting.

I would have loved to see Yuzuru in TCC, but I understand if he cannot because of academic demands coupled with being "battle weary" after Worlds. Anyway, Shoma is more than a good replacement for him in Team Asia. I think the format of TCC is somewhat similar to the YOG team event which he had participated in. Had Shoma also been up for fan voting he will face very stiff competition from Boyang and Han Yan for the fan vote.

They were not invited based on world ranking. But they can be nominated for fan votes. Since they both chose to do ice shows, then they can't be nominated for fan votes. That's really their way of saying, "The competition is not valuable to me. I am not interested." If TCC has the prestige of world championship, I am sure both of them will arrange all other events around the world championship. They will cancel all ice shows close to the WC (maybe cancel the minor competitions before WC too) to make sure they can be well prepared for the WC. If they choose an ice show over TCC, it means they value TCC less than an ice show.

WTT is an commercial event. JSF is the host of WTT. The rules are most likely instated at the request of JSF. IMO, the only reasons top skaters like Yuzu (who have already won all the titles) will voluntarily attend events like WTT and TCC are either 1: they want to try a new element in a low-pressured competition (e.g. 4Lo), or 2: the top skater has a bad season, or bad performance at WC. He/she wants to have a good performance at WTT/TCC to end his/her season.

I'll be traveling alone but meeting someone there.

I'm guessing they won't be giving the banners back because they probably don't know how to coordinate a return? I always thought fans hung their own banners but I guess there'd be big problems if they fell down mid-competition.

Here's a photo and this is it folded up (Tsuchineko to show scale). Once I trim the extra fabric it should be even smaller and lighter. The colors aren't exactly like the original, but I figured this is easy to carry around and I can hold it and wave it myself.

Your banner design is amazing! :agree:

Another news clip.

Do you remember that little girl hugged with Yuzuru after reopen of the Ice Rink Sendai?

Wish them all the hapiness :cheer:

How lucky this girl is to have had Yuzu as her onii-chan. I wished they would have shown us more scenes of them together though... They seemed close, I wonder how they got that close in first place.
Btw, I've always thought he kinda pinches her cheeks there but it actually looks like he's checking on her teeth? :scratch2: Yuzu the dentist...

she's so cute  what did she say?

She is also wanting to be a top skater. Her idol is of course Yuzuru-niichan

"We have kept attending skating competitions after the earthquake. As we can continue skating like this thanks to donations including Olympic events, I have a renewed admiration for Yuzuru-kun."

EDIT: Sorry, the first objective might be Yuzuru, not we. I'm not sure.
