On Site Reports @ Worlds 2016

Interestingly, I was told that Nam had perhaps not been working as hard as he should have in the last year, so perhaps his problems are not all growth-related.

In my opinion, of course it is possible. The ladies' podium is not as predictable as the men's podium. If Mao delivers she should win, she is the best skater in this competition. She just... needs to stay away from underrotations or pops.

I agree. A near-flawless Mao in either the SP or FS (or both! :yay:) should be enough to beat the rest of the field, and deservedley so too. I'll be cheering a lot for her!

Also, another thanks to everyone keeping us unlucky people updated with practice notes and other things! I hope that you all have a great time in Boston! :)

Maybe he's feeling pressure of being placed ahead of Liam.

I've seen him skate this year and its not because of that. The problem is his skating skills which I'm sorry but is probably among the weakest here at worlds.

Well, do you think it was the right decision to place him ahead of Liam? I don't know either skater well enough to say for sure but, if neither of them is a proven winner, why didn't they select Kevin for the team instead?

Kevin doesn't have the Sp min. score

Max with a nasty fall on his 2nd quad but came back and nailed the last 4 jumping passes.

Sadly, I use Jackson skates. Good fit, nice and stiff. However, what I'm talking about is Jackson skates breaking twice on Mirai in major competitions. Skate manufacturers depend on high level skaters wearing the boots to sell to lower level skaters in Ice rinks over the country. When a skater has a huge mishap like this, or injuries like Polina and Karen it can hurt business. I know that Jackson's are probably some of the most popular. So this might sting if retailers consider switching.

I only skate in Jacksons because my feet are freakishly wide and they're the only skates that have a wide enough size to fit me. I've never had any problems with them. The other major brands are Harlick's, Edea and Ridell-never tried Harlick's or Edea, but I had Ridells once and they were heinously uncomfortable.

I'm assuming Mirai's boot is fixable, but what would happen if it wasn't? Would it be possible to get the alternate (I think it was Tyler Pierce) out in time? What awful luck!

I've never had any problems with mine either. I have "Jackson feet", whatever that means...

It's mostly the kids that I see issues. They're a lot rougher on their skater and very spirited. Also quite a few kids skate too long in boots that are not strong enough for their level. That's where the weird stuff happens. They laugh it all off, no matter how much it freaks me out.

Rippon came to play. All his jumps are in fine form. Great run through!!!!

Thank Gawd!!! Thanks for the report Radsotnikhanovich, I sure hope he holds it together and delivers in front of the home crowd. He waited a long time for his Title and I know he'll want to be great in front of his very supportive home crowd.

Great run through for Chafik only the popped sal at the end. Such interesting programs. Why can't Max Aaron do something like this???
