i think TSL secretly enjoys the russian ladies's performances. all of them have the IT factor even if ppl love complaining about the poor posture, horrifying falls, or excessive tanos. i always find them the most interesting to watch, and can't wait to see them live tmr!

I was walking through Copley Mall, like I always do on my way home from high school, because I live in Boston, and go to high school here, and my train stop is right there, and I saw Elena shopping in the mall, and I wanted to say hi or ask for a photo with her, or something, but I froze up when I saw her beauty, and now I'm really mad at myself

TSL will criticize everyone, US and Russian alike. Jenny Kirk calls Elena her skating daughter. She just wants her to grow as a skater. Both she and Dave outright said they would totally take her for US skating and for obvious reasons.
I got a photo with Lena!!! And I was able to give her my present!! :hap57:
I was lucky, because she tried to run away after practice, but she came over when I yelled her name and showed her my gift.
She's a real cutie, though. While she was getting ready to go on the ice, she kept looking up at the stands and smiling because people were taking pics. The other skaters were just focused on themselves. :yes:
Lena is super fast in person.
She's taller than Gracie but a tiny bit shorter than Anna.
She had a few popped jumps and falls, pretty typical for her, I think. (She popped the 2A in her run-through, but she looked confident.) It looks like she's going to do the flip in her SP. Her 3Lz-3T looked good, and she's now trying her combos with a Tano on the 3T and the 3S in her 3Lo-1Lo-3S.

In my opinion, Lena really stands out in practice and the warmup because she skates really fast. She also looks taller than everyone (even Anna) because she's so thin and her limbs are so long.
However, she was not as fast in her SP, and she didn't sell her program until the steps.

She's still slightly shorter than Anna, so I don't think she grew taller? In person she's thin but muscular, looks healthy to me.

I was at this practice and saw her skate over to the boards to the fans. She also went to some dude after the short and received flowers or something. When skaters do this it makes me like them more because it shows that they are willing to engage their fans. Yulia and Gracie earned points from me like that too. Glad you got your moment. I am still hoping for a chance at a picture. I hope she comes to the men's long and I can see her there. the results are not bad. It's is still very much anybody's game. All the ladies above Lena except for Evgenia have had what I will call moments that can easily open the door. My feelings are mixed because I want Lena up there, but I am happy for Ashley and Gracie too. Should be interesting.

Lena is supposed to stop by the Riedell booth at some point, but they couldn't tell me when, exactly. I'm guessing maybe today? She has a little interview prepared or something like that.
The Riedell rep confirmed that Lena is a sponsored skater (they only have 6 of them), so she gets free boots, money, and potentially a bonus. The rep said that Lena's really sweet. Obviously!!
