surgery?? :dbana: i am glad they caught it early and (hopefully) he can in peace , that will probably mean ninja mode again though but doesnt matter as long as he is healthy again!

So that's what was bothering him- constant swelling and pain. BTW when there is a lot of swelling it is hard to see the real problem even with XRay because the swollen tissue blurres the real issue with bones or muscles. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. He's been competing with serious injury for quite a long time. He deserves so much respect and support for fighting through.

So is it confirmed Yuzu had surgery or not ?
thanks in advance !

No. If the news are true then he will have to undergo a surgery. Will have to. That could be one of the reasons he went to Toronto- correct diagnosys and probably a surgery. Probably.

No , no no heart attack please my mistake, these are just speculations of media and doctor nothing official :drama:

One month therapy as it is said , it's really nothing nnd he can still skate in the meantime, just not jump. full recovery is in 2-3 month , but he can go for the jumps that won't hurt that part, like edge jumps. anyway it is off season so enough time to recover.

From your guys’ reaction, he keeps us aging even after WC! (I’m sure some of you agree that WC aged us by some years…)

It's already 5 years I am aging because of him :handw: , last year I lost about 3 years of my life, this... I don't know yet..

Yes. At present, not surgery.
his current injury is identified as “lisfranc joint ligaments damage” like the above twitter says.

Anyway, he has some off-season time to recover. The best treatment shall be done.
I wish I could read Japanese. :) Oh God if what I've got from the news clip is true I have a very similar problem with instep Yuzu has. You have no idea how much it hurt at times. And if there was a lot of swelling then skating in those boots could be a real torture because swelling makes you foot bigger.

I guess being at the top of a sport means injury is inevitable, so I hope Yuzuru heals well this summer without any added pressure about anything because he truly needs some good rest after all he's been through.

I respect his decision to retire in 2018 because figure skating seems to be taking a serious toll on his body. So before he plans to retire, hopefully someday soon I can go watch a live competition to cheer him on. :2thumbs: (perhaps next season?)

I know what you feel.:) Japanese language is not India-Europe language like English or French, so google translation doesn’t work well.
I don’t know swelling suffers you to such degree.. He must have much pain.. With this pain, he kept hard training for WC…

The doctor of the article says, about reoccurrence after recovery, it can be prevented by the way of training or so. For example, he may have any habit burdens the instep area. If so, he can modify the habit or heighten the flexibility/stability of joint and reduce the burden of impact-absorb-function of foot.

I'd love it, so much! You may draw at venue or hotel during trip!:agree:

I can't imagine how hard this competition was for him that he had gotten that trauma. I think his unbelievable efforts and putting in too much strength had worsened the past trauma. I don't see any way he couldn't take painkiller at the gala now. It must hurt a lot :( How could he even jump quads at gala practice? Super boy indeed. Though I haven't noticed any discomfort in him during the gala. I hope he gets well soon and takes a good rest. Praying hard for him.
Sign... I can't concentrate on my work at all. No one makes me more worried than Yuzu. Please more injury-free seasons for him.

Come on, he rewarded the stressing out amply this year. No matter what happened at the Worlds. :)

I'm an atheist, but that's what I'd pray for. For an injury-free season. an injury-free career in general.

I think it's his exacerbated trauma from January. The pressure and hardships from WC should have brought it back and worsened it.

No official statement from JSF regarding the nature of the midfoot injury and there was no mention of lisfranc ligament damage at all. I think speculation arises because who was it, Brian/Yuzuru himself?, said that he had to refrain from practicing quad toe so as not to exacerbate the pain in the instep area of his left foot. Toe-pick jumps, not to mention quadruple toe-pick jumps, present great burden to the lisfranc ligament connecting the medial cunieform to the first and second metatarsal of the foot. Even the orthopedic surgeon in one of the video clips speculated that he might suffer from this condition. So, yeah, nothing confirmed yet, just a speculation.
