There is a big difference between involvement and interference.... it is great to be involved, supportive and know what is happening, but when you constantly question, pressure, badger the coach to the extent that they cannot do their job... that is interference. Parental interference is quite common and can be a nightmare in so many sports... just look at minor hockey... tennis...

Why does everybody just assume that Brian cut the relationship because of Nam's parents?? It can well be something else. Or maybe simply Brian doesn't feel he has enough time to deal with all the students there in his club.

I have no idea why Brian, if he did, cut the relationship, if they indeed have ended it. I was trying to just make a general statement and am finished with the topic.

The discussion of parents is interesting, but I think it's important to note that we don't really know much (anything) about this situation.

Things we don't know:
- if Nam is leaving the Cricket Club
- if he is leaving, whose decision it was (Orser's or Nam's or Nam's parents')
- if we know whose decision it was, the basis of the decision

The first question will probably be answered in due course, the second may or may not be answered, and the third will probably remain a mystery to us all, and perhaps to some of the involved parties.

Exactly. I was debating the parental role in general because of the assumption by some that parental involvements are negative and called interference. Nam's father is portrayed as rude, hot tempered and interfering in his son's training and assumed to be the cause of the split. Let's not start believing and judging without real knowledge and basis. There are all kinds on all sides and human relationships can be completed, even if unnecessarily.

I'm sure the wish of all who care is that Nam be happy and his talents nurtured.

At this weekend, TCC starts! Go Spicy Nam!:hap10:
You mastered 3A quickly and got Worlds Junior title. Soon you got 4S. When you got new jumps, you posted them to your SMS and I got excited. Further, you could get skating firmly under the collision incident at COC 2014. At that time, I just admired your mentality. This season was bitter experience for you. But I’ve heard you live your life in a disciplined way and does both your skating practice and study well. As long as you work hard, your future is bright, I believe.
I just wish you the best of luck under new circumstances! :clapper:

That's sad that he's leaving TCC, but if that's what he wants to do to get better, then I wish him the best. Beside, his good friend Polina will be there too, so he won't feel lonely. :)

I'm a little sad, but hope it was a good decision. Maybe Polina will motivate him to work even harder? ;) Anyway, hope next season he will regain a good form! :cheer:

What do we know about his new coach, other than that he trains Polina? Who else has he trained?

I expect a better season next year with the growing pains out of the way and a fresh perspective/start over feeling. Be happy, Nam!!

i hope he his done growing... he is so tall now... good luck nammy :) if you don't like it in SD, do not be afraid to change your mind and move again...that's really my concern... changing coaches was needed for him, but sometimes, after a change we don't want to admit the new environment isn't working out... i hope that if it doesn't go well, that he will courageously act about it . too much talent!!!

I hope this decision is for the best. I wrote some of my thoughts about his split from the Cricket Club on my blog. I'm not ready to give up on Nam!

@PrincessBeany
I have read your blog, especially your blog on World in Boston, I can feel thru your blog the sadness that we all fill after the Men'free program. Like you, I am a Yuzu'fan. I went to Boston to see him skate. I was sad, depressed for the rest of the competition, so I did not enjoy very much my time in Boston.
As for Nam, I think that the coaching change is good for him. He needs more support from the coaches to help him regain his confidence and consistency in his skating. I think that Orser is not the person who can help him now when he has to overcome his body growth and adjust to his new body. Orser is too busy with so many skaters, Nam is not his priority I guess. I hope Nam will be happier in San Jose with a new coach who can give him more attention. I hope that Yuzuru can stay at The Cricket Club and continue to train with Orser until the Olympic in 2018. But I can imagine that training alongside Javi must be difficult for him sometimes because he must recall all the disappointment and sadness at World in Boston. And this is the second time in a row. I am afraid for next year too. He can be the best skater all year except one night in the free skate, and be beaten by a friend and rival.

Isn't it ironic that the little midget who was always being towered over by silver and bronze medalists standing on the lower podium stages, and who stayed a little midget into his teens and caused concerns, has shot up so fast that the concerns are now about his continued growth? :palmf: And the little mischievous comic at the 2010 Olympics is now a handsome young man in a romance? The prodigy is in a struggle to fulfill his potential and role as The Next One for Canada. I am sure he will overcome his technical issues once he's done growing. D10 can be a role model for achieving great success after a disastrous season or two with his growth spurt but hopefully Nam will stay healthy and injury free. I hope he will not try too hard out of frustration but relax and be patient about the transitions he has to go through.

The "m" word you said is actually a derogatory word. I don't mean to shoot you down. I'm just saying.

I just affectionately borrowed it from Midget Hockey and other sports as well as the original meaning of a small proportionate person. Too bad some words are now hijacked and un-PC.

I watched documentaries and stuff on little people and they say the word is offensive to them.

Yeah strange how some words became totally different to what they were intended for.
