Translator’s note:
Asanoya is a sake-brewer who lived in a small town named Yoshioka. People of Yoshioka was very poor for they had been harshly taxed by Sendai-government, so Asanoya and a few volunteers including his brother Kokudaya decided to lend their money to Sendai government with interest to help the people of their town. Having heard about Asanoya and his company, Shigemura wanted to see them, however Asanoya did not show up to his castle for he had pain in his legs and he despised traveling on a horse or on a palanquin for it gives others pain. So Shigemura came to Yoshioka, where most people had never met their lord.


1:21-
MC: Mr. Abe, when did you come to know who would play the lord?
Sadao Abe (who plays Kokudaya): On the very day of the shooting, at the rehearsal. Until then I had no idea who would play Shigemura. We all had been wondering and making guesses about it, and Mikio Date of Sandwich-man (Japanese comedian whose ancestor is Masamune Date, an ancestor of Shigemura) was most expected among us.
Director: Ridiculous.
Sadao: And who we met at the rehearsal was...him. We were so surprised.
MC: There's a footage of the moment he appeared on the set.
Michifumi Isoda (the author of the book this movie based on): Oh I've never seen it before.
MC: Let's see the moment when they first met Hanyu.
Isoda(to the audience): You are the only people who can see this footage.
MC: This is the world premiere. Please play the video.
Sadao: We didn't know who's coming yet...
Sadao: I'm grinning.
Director: You should not be grinning here (laughs)
Sadao: And I'm staring at him.
Yuzu (on screen): Where's Asanoya Jinnai?

Subtitle: How was Hanyu's acting?
Sadao: Wasn't he very natural? Well we couldn't see much of his acting in that footage, but he looks very natural...not like an athlete trying to act but like a real actor...and his expression was beautiful. I was so surprised, really. I was grinning, and in my mind I was like "Wow Hanyu kun is so good!"
MC: Just like an ordinary person admiring a noble person.
Sadao: Yeah, exactly, and I was so quick to approach him, just like an ordinary person (who found a celebrity.)
Isoda: One of our teammate from Higashinippon Broadcasting went to see his father bringing my book and the script with him. After reading them, Hanyu's father said this film would be good for the people of Sendai, and his son would be able to learn something as a performer. Then after a while, upon reading the book and the script together, they received our offer. It was a big surprise for us because we did not expect they would.
When he was on the set, he seemed to be having fun, eating things he like, which he usually avoid as an athlete, then he made that record-breaking score, so we were very glad that this movie didn't become his obstacle.
MC: Or this movie might have contributed to his record-breaking score...
Isoda: Oh we shouldn't be that bold. Let's be humble about that.
MC: This must be the moment when he made mistake.
Isoda: Good expression.
Sadao: He asked for retakes and repeat without complaining.
Isoda: Everyone said that those who can claim the top can do anything wonderfully.

There is the idiom in Japanese; 牙城を崩す/gajo wo kuzusu/
= literally " to crush the king's castle" = to break the stronghold = to beat the king

This is not Nagoya-dialect, but general Japanese idiom.
We, Japanese, don't use the verb 崩す/kuzusu/ toward a person, so when I heard his words 崩したい/crush/ on tv interview , I understood he just skipped "king's castle", not using the whole idiom.

Yes, I know usually Japanese dont use kuzusu for person... like english dont use "it" for person except they want to look down/disregard him/her

Anyway, I dont believe Shoma disregard Yuzu, but not every Japanese think so. And to some fan who dont know japanese but search that word in dictionary, they will get little shock too =))

As honeyxxxclassic explained, 崩す kuzusu is not usually used for a person by itself. So, it sounds a bit weird at first hearing, but it is understood right away what he really meant if you have enough understanding in Japanese. He just intended to say he wants to be a competitive skater to challenge Yuzuru, and win him someday. It is natural for every athlete to challenge the king of the field. If not, he can never grab the victory. I'm glad for both Yuzuru and Shoma :agree:

Ok, so now at Madame Tussauds in Tokyo you can watch dancing holograms to Swan Lake with Yuzu? LOL. What will they think of next?
 
Just google news for Yuzuru and it's on different news channels from Thursday, April 28th.

It's a new exhibition at Madame Tussauds in Tokyo where you can dance with celebrities. They take a 3D face scan of participants which is put on a hologram dancer and then there is a 90 second presentation where you dance or waltz with brad Pitt, Leo DiCaprio, Lady Gaga, Marilyn Monroe and pirouette in a Swan Lake ballet with Yuzuru. The current roster is 3 dances and 6 different celebrities which will expand later in the year. Cool!!
 
I just finished my first Yuzu fan video
I hope you'll enjoy it, even though I'm not very good at making videos. It's mostly with the happiest moments from 2012-2016 :)

oh I see thanks :biggrin: it's a pretty cool idea. I for one would totally waltz with Leo :p and of course pirouette with Yuzu :cool:

I don't believe either. As far as I have seen, over 98% of Japanese Yuzu fans don't care or/and are amused at Shoma's words. Also I see there is no problem.
