Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

Great news! I don't usually love his choreography, but if Igor can improve their levels and help them minimize their errors then I'll be happy. My gut says this will be a good move.

I'm very happy for them that it's all settled now, and they can go on vacation with light hearts and really rest, psychologically as well as physically.

I also have faith in Shpilband that now that he has a team of the highest caliber again, he'll give them programs worthy of them. I remember how excited he sounded to be working with them when they first came to Novi this spring. I also remember that Morozov consulted him on the choreography of IK's Olympic Swan Lake FD. So I hope he'll be able to produce something that'll unite IZ's creativity with intricate, but sound and stable technique. They've sparkled from the beginning, but I hope with Shpilband they'll acquire that extra undenyable champion lustre.

My sentiments exactly. I'm very happy for them. :hap93: Can't wait to hear what their music is.

Interesting - I guess Antonio is helping with the overall presentation, posture & movement? Considering that they also say the programs are done.

Nice to hear Fabian is giving them lots of time :)

Well, Elena said: “The models of the programs are done, the music is chosen, the placing of the elements is determined. Before leaving for Moscow, we’ve managed to do two through skates of the SD. And on June 5th we’re leaving for Madrid for a week to continue working with Antonio Najarro. From there we’ll return to the USA, where a strict and already fully prepared schedule of preparation for the season awaits us.” I thought from this that Najarro would be choreographing their FD, since the SD is apparently already done, while for the FD they may have done everything, but the choreography. I think if both programs had been choreographed, Elena would have said so, instead of saying that the models are done. Models usually don’t include choreography, only the technical elements.

I was also happy to hear about their overall goals: “We simply have to continue developing, develop faster, but at the same time not loose our own individuality.” The last part is especially reassuring.

And, of course, it’s great that they’re both prioritizing spending as much time as possible with their loved ones during their vacation.

I think from this information it will be a collaborative effort involving Najarro, Bourzat and Igor; with Igor giving oversight to the entire project. A very impressive line up if you ask me. Things will work out for the guys.

I`m also happy that they are going to work with Najarro again. It`s clear that he loves working with them, especially with Elena and it`s always good to work with someone who comes from a strict dance background.

Anyway, I think it`s a good sign that they are already able to skate runthroughs in May.
I`m also glad that they are working a lot with Fabian. He retired only few seasons ago and knows how to come back from disappointments and set backs, since his career with Nathalie wasn`t always smooth sailing either.

Just a question. I see that everybody is excited about Fabian Bourzat working IZ. I'm curious as to what makes him such a great specialist. I'm not being sarcastic or critical in the least, just curious, and would be grateful if somebody pointed out to me what makes him so special. I mean he and Natalie Pechalat were a good duet, no doubt about it, but not as good as IK or DW, and he couldn't have amassed much coaching experience since he retired.

Well Fabian was more memorable as a dancer than Massimo Scali ever was and yet look and see what work Scali has done with S/K and S/S. The technical specialist in that group is Igor, there is no one better, ask Zhulin. Fabian lends his expertise I believe in creativity and style. I've always been a fan of his style on the ice. He has a style that suits the persona that Lena needs on the ice. These performances in particular stand out to me;

This is just my opinion of course.

I would echo what bramweld says, and I would also add that I think the general opinion is that Fabian may be able to offset some of the perceived "generic" qualities of teams coming out of Igor's camp. The fear with moving I/Z was that they would lose some of their strong personality and style or have it watered down. Say what you like about Pechalat and Bourzat, but they were incredibly creative and always went for the unexpected or weird choices- I mean, in an Olympic season when all the top teams were going with some form of romantic/passionate/intense program, they adapted "The Little Prince." And let's not forget "The Pharoah and His Mummy." In theory, he would be able to help I/Z continue to explore a more unique style that could help them stand out from the pack, especially domestically.

And we have question about Antionio answered: http://fs-gossips.com/elena-ilinykh-when-else-to-experiment-with-the-styles/ :) And we know that it was Igor who choose FD music.

TAHbKA has already translated the full interview on FSU :)

Elena sounds very happy about their move to Detroit. It`s interesting to read about the differences between the American and Russian training system. Although I can`t wait for a music announcement from them, I`m glad they are keping it a secret for the reasons she mentioned in the interview.

Thank you! This interview is the best thing I've read recently! All the things Elena said is making me very happy, mainly because it look like the move to US will help them not only short term wise, but also log term, I think :) :hap10: :yahoo: And I hope Fabian will be gong with them to competitions! Also very glad they plan to do senior B, hope they will choose one in North America, I want to see them against some strong teams and then defeat them :p
