If their Queen SD brought forward one thing it was Ruslan`s performance skills. There were times I was watching more him than Elena. Besides, people didn`t think he could do a good paso doble and he nailed that one. Bollywood music has so much fire that I think it could be a good fit for both of them.

Angelique & Louis's age & ability is actually very relevant when you are assessing their program - the coach & choreographer could have all the good intentions in the world, but ultimately they are limited by what the skaters are capable of, and very few ice dancers have the ability to translate a completely alien form of dance onto the ice and balance it with all the tech demands at that stage of their career.

I understand all of that, but what I meant is even if the particular dancers are capable only of some simple and basic moves, such moves can also be either authentic or at least close to authentic to the form of dance, or not so much. As I said, execution (in terms of how perfectly thosw moves are executed) is another thing.

I don't know exactly what I/Z's music is, but I know they have been working a lot with outside choreographers & dance teachers, so if it is a Bollywood program, or Slumdog Millionaire, it's not going to be a pastiche or stereotypes of Indian dance.

Actually that rumour said that their music is selections from 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Which is actually not Bollywood, just made in a style that is similar to that genre, with the great exception that this movie is much harsher/bleaker than most of Bollywood movies.

Well, I hope they go for the classic SD+unconventional FD combo. I don`t know about you, but I want to see Ruslan dance the Swing with Elena!

And my point is that you are limited in how authentic you make the moments in the initial choreography by the capability of the dancers.

The tumblr posts said it will be a Bollywood selection mixed with the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack. There is such a variety of Bollywood music, they could go the more traditional way, like Davis and White did, who had their focus more on showing an Indian folk dance. There are also a lot of Bollywood movies who mix modern dance or hip hop into their choreography. They could also decide to use the soundtrack of just one movie, for example like kabhi khushi kabhi gham, that has the whole rich guy+poor girl storyline and show that relationship on ice.

Regarding IZ’s official coach transfer, I wrote in the Edge subforum that I think IZ will add Shpilband as a third coach to their official list of coaches. I think Shpilband has done that with some other ID teams, as well as Zueva with C/L. If so, then I think it’s a good thing. They train mostly with Shpilband who’ll also accompany them to competition, but they won’t be cutting ties with Kustarova and Alexeeva either, possibly training with them for a week or so now and then and having them accompany them to competitions as well. It may be that IZ have a very high opinion of KA as coaches, who are, after all, considered the best ID technicians in Russia. It may also be that Elena and Ruslan are grateful to the coaches who’ve made them the most interesting and promising ID team starting from their first season together. I think that it’s likely both, and it makes me admire IZ even more, both as people and as professionals. Personally, I think it’s the best solution.

They are not rats as they didn't reveal the music choices, just that Ruslena are doing an Indian themed FD.

I get uppity because there is a rink code. At least back in my day there was. As much as we all love to speculate, teams reveal music when the time is right. Your better off talking confirmations with your skater friends than blowing Ruslena up on a message board. It's not for you or your friends to confirm publicly. All I'm saying.

It's impossible to keep things completely under wraps, there are always rumors and leaks, which I'm sure Elena knows. I don't have the skater friends that Mattieu apparently does and I had heard of this several weeks ago. It's not really a big deal, nothing has actually been confirmed, and we still don't know their music, and Elena's concern was the forums being rude and ripping them to pieces over their choices anyway. Perhaps a better use of your energy would be sending positive vibes to ruslena, not trying to stuff a cat back into a bag that already has an enormous hole in it.
