I do wonder if swapping one of her 2a-3t combos with a 3lz-3t combo would be a good idea. She could open with 3lz-3t and then move her 3lz-2t-2lo to the second half along with the 2a-3t. That way, she'd tick off boxes for doing a difficult 3-3 in her FS along with backloading her program. She's doing a 3lz-3t in her SP as is, you would think doing it in both programs would help make it stronger.

Well that was her original FS layout, ever since the beginning of the 2014-2015 season. Watch her FS at the 2014 Skate Canada and you'll notice that she is opening with a 3Lz-3T and has a 3Lz-2T-2Lo in the second half. Same thing happened at the 2015 Japan Open. It was her coach's idea to go for the double 2A-3T layout because she was getting underrotation calls. She never liked the idea and only complied so far, but she says things will change next season.

Satoko and Wakaba have spoken about working on the 3A.

That's good to hear! Sometimes I wonder what if 1 day someone can consistently land 3-3 and 3A, wouldn't she be a bit untouchable point-wise in the TES? Glad that the japanese ladies are also working on these

Both Satoko and Wakaba have the most difficult type of 3-3 in their jumping arsenal and adding a 3A to that would be quite impressive.

Midori Ito already did that. I think Midori Ito is the only lady that can consistently land 3-3 and 3A. Even today, almost 30 years later, no ladies have come close to her technical prowess.

Well, she is a legend for a reason  She probably will do well in CoP system  I am referring to today's ladies haha.

Wakaba looks like a mini version of Midori. Maybe one day, she can land the 3A.

Wakaba has a similar built to Midori's, which is why she has that power and sprint to her jumps. While Satoko is more or less the same height as Wakaba, she doesn't have the same built and, as she's already mentioned before, she really lacks power in her legs. Both can jump triple axels if they put their minds to it; the axel is actually one of Satoko's best jumps. She doesn't necessarily need height for it, she needs distance/coverage.

I have not seen wakaba much aside of junior world. One of midori's great technical prowess is the ridiculous height of her jump (her 3A is wow), that even most of today's ladies can't come close to. I really wish I can see that again from these ladies

Scott Hamilton said during Midori Ito's LP at Worlds in 1990 that it would be 50 years before we saw anything like Midori Ito again and he was right. Twenty six years and counting now.

None of them have actually jumped a 3A in competition so we don't know which one is "trolling" and which is "exciting". Uninspired attempt at bashing Miyahara.
We know what we're seeing with our own eyes, don't we? :)
Wakaba is a high flyer, so her speaking about 3A is the potential reality that excites me, Satoko on the other side, has the lowest jumps among the current ladies field, so her talks about training 3A looks like friendly fans trolling to me. ;)

You can express your disbelief in a polite manner. Dismissing skaters' efforts to improve as "trolling" is frankly uncalled for and childish. :agree:

Satoko's 2A is quite good, so I also don't think that a 3A isn't within reach. Although it's hard for anyone and getting it stable is even harder. But I naturally would like to hear that Satoko is working hard to on her toe jumps.

I don't follow them much off-competition, any idea if they have managed to land/fully rotate it, yet? That would be cool.
As for Satoko, I hope she backload a lot next season (no idea about her new layout), especially on 3-3, since she is very consistent. She likely still won't be awarded high GOEs by the judges in the near future, so probably backloading seems to be the answer for her to keep up with the Russians.

Last year Wakaba was saying she was planning to add the 3A in her layout this season but it didn't happen because she had some troubles. Satoko said her 3A has a good axis and air position and she's pleased about it. No word on whether she plans to add it in her layout in the near future but she said she will place a 3-3 combination in the second half of her FS next season.

What do you think Marin's chances are for spot on 2018 Olympic team?

From what I see she has a good chance. Judges seem to love her and she can pull in 192 points with junior PCS. But it is still in 1.5 years, I would see how she will do this season and at her senior season before making a bet. There are too many great ladies skater in team japan and there are only 3 spots, so I'd expect bloodbath.
