Group 2 is interesting. In most predictions Konstantinova and Shiraiwa are here to fight for the bronze. May be they will show they have quite different ambitions.

Konstantinova has a very unique style, as unique or even better than Anna P. in terms of coolness.
Hope she improves her jumps and becomes a late boomer.
She is just another stunning skater just to look at.
However, since her jumps are far less stable than Polina, Liza and Yuna, I would say her chance of medaling is low.

That's very strange. Stanislava has much better jumps than Liza. So she have to beat her absolutely easy with clean skate.

Had Shiraiwa been free of injuries previously, and competed outside of Russia, I would've placed her over Liza Nugumanova in my prediction. I didn't remember a thing about Konstantinova's skating, so watched her SP at Nationals just minutes ago. Konstantinova has Stolbova's face and expression , but not the level of her SS and solid jump landings....Nevertheless Konstantinova is interesting, but her skating is somewhat rough, so she may not be everyone's cup of tea. Liza has small jumps, but her presentation and solid SS as well as the hype over her may help her to place after Tsursksaya.

However, my top priority for this event is to know how much Polina has been recovered from her injury, and how tall she is now. Can she jump as huge as herself last season and dominate the junior circuit with the changed body as last season until the abrupt withdrawal from Junior Worlds? I hope so.

Lizochka has not been known for stability of her jumps, she use to be a chronic URer... :slink:

Hopefuly yes, her jumps are unbelieveable!

Not a chance with Marin Honda still breathing. Polina can't match her presence and star power.

Well, isn't it true that Polina dominated the junior circuit last season until the JWC? Give credit where credit is due. I believe she would've won the Junior World title easily if she had not been injured and withdrawn. However, we have to wait and see how she is doing depending on her current condition. but I can't imagine she would lose her jumps because of the injury and height. You know I love Marin as well and Polina possesses a regal presence. They have just different styles to each other. Polina's programs (so Eteri's taste) didn't help people think she has a nice SS and interpretation though.

I would love for Tsurskaya to work with Tchernyshev in the future. He makes great dramatic programs that cater the skaters. Her Chess LP was not my cup of tea.

I disagree completely with an "easy" part. Yes, Polina was the favourite, but it'd by no means have been walk in the park for her.
We all knew (and know) Marin is not a super consistent type of skater (at least yet), but we have to remember that before the 2016 Worlds Marin participated in 4 international tourneys that year and medalled in all of them: 1 gold, 2 silvers and 1 bronze. You might even observe the "optimistic" pattern: good JGPs, poor JpnJunNats, good JGPF, poor JpnSenNats,...
Feds are not ignorants, they knew what they were doing sending her to Worlds in spite of her poor domestic outcomes and they were not disappointed - she got her form back and shined brighter than ever setting PBs in both short and free. She was visibly on top of her mental and physical game and delivered two clean, spectacular skates. We don't have the crystal ball just our common sense and claiming it would have been easy win for Polina is a myth, dismissed even by Russian fans in their skating fora. Knowing how patriotic and crazy for their girls they are, I was pleasantly surprised back then, reading how much respect they were giving Marin after that win, often telling ubers to stop speculating, shut up and give props to the new world champion.

Just saw that Polina is staking to Light of the Seven. I cannot wait to see it! (Why not get in character, though?).
