2016-17 Ills and Injuries

I think it is just a mere formality to take them out from the list. I presume Wang/Wang will take the spot as they have only one GP assignment.

Wang & Wang are at the top of the replacement list, so theoretically China shouldn't have to send them up against their other top two teams at Cup of China. They could have chosen to wait for W&W to get an invite elsewhere, but I don't think China has anyone else to send. If they did, W&W would probably have taken S&H's spot at SA. So my guess is that currently keeping Sui & Han on the list for Cup of China is about selling tickets to the event.

I hope Polina isn't the new Kaetlyn Osmond with injuries. Has anyone confirmed if Radinova is injured? What about Mao's knee is this a real problem?

I was about to ask why Polina has been posting pictures with her sorority girlfriends frequently lately..
I guess its because she is injured, she has stopped ice training for weeks now.

While I hope Mallet isn't injured Canada has a nice battle going on with Daleman, Chartrand and Osmond. I wonder how Polina is doing with Nam? He moved quite a distance. Maybe she is cheering him on.

I'm starting to worry that Angela Wang's time is running out. She was, and is, one of the most promising US Ladies. Unfortunately, she has never been able to recapture the magic she created as a Junior. She was fast with big jumps and beautiful artistry. Every time I think she's headed for a win, she gets injured. IMO, Mariah Bell has stolen her thunder and is currently looking like the "Heir Apparent" to the US Crown.

She withdrew from her earlier assignments!

She's definitely been quiet on social media since the spring. But I don't find any reports of injury in French.

I notice that, she's been adding summer photos to her Instagram recently, as well as a thank you to her coach during national coaches week.

I'm not sure where she is studying, but she is listed as a student on her ISU profile. Figure skating at the elite level does not easily combine with post-secondary education in North America. Kevin Reynolds seems to be managing it at the University of British Columbia, but it's fairly exceptional. I wouldn't jump to conclude a significant injury is the issue.

I wish all the best for Angela. I like her a lot and agree with you on her series of misfortune. Last season she won a medal at a CS event and she finally got opportunities to shine. However her chance to show her gorgeous FS in France was shut down due to the abrupt incident in the hosting country. :drama:

What is the source for your claim that Polina "has stopped ice training for weeks now"???

The USFS press release from Oct 12 says no such thing.
Reigning U.S. silver medalist Polina Edmunds has withdrawn from the 2016 Rostelecom Cup as she continues to recover from a right foot injury. She has resumed full training while continuing rehab and plans to compete at 2016 NHK Trophy.

Wishing Angela the best. For me, it is some consolation to know that she was USFS' original choice for Skate America this year, which is something of a vote of confidence.
Being injured obviously doesn't help, but I hope she can get back on track before long.

As reported on other threads, Denis Ten and Julia Lipnitskaia have withdrawn from Skate America. Julia aggravated an old injury in her last competition. Not sure about Denis?

Probably Denis as well. And Stolbova/Klimov too since it was reported earlier that she went to US for treatment and now they WD from GP assignments. So many injuries :sad21: And then M-T/M had WD as well from CoR, probably injury related too...

Denis withdrew from a competition earlier - a Senior B - even though he was actually there, so something must have happened.
