It depends on who can throw it down at Russian Nationals. I could definitely see her beating Radionova and Pogorilaya if, and only if, she skates two clean programs and a 3A. I would love to see her back on the world's team as well.

I think she should find a new coach who will bring out a more artistic side to her skating. She can jump. It is fact. Everyone acknowledges and respects this. Now it's time to add something else to her performances. Her greatest asset against the young consistency wunders like Evgenia is her maturity, experience, and natural mystique. Why not harness that potential and translate that into points?
Let's be honest, her current coach is a jumping coach and nothing more. Whatever he's doing, it's not helping her perform in acual competition, as her marks clearly reflect. It doesn't matter how many compeitions they try to cram her into. In fact, it's probably worse as she will become both fatigued AND discouraged by the poor results. It's messing with her mentality and even her solid jumping ability is being affected. I mean, that strategy only worked in 2014-2015 as that season was an anomaly. Some of the top pre-Sochi Olympians (Mao, Yuna, Carolina, Akiko, Adelina etc) exited the scene and left a weak field. Those who remained in the mix (Yulia, Gracie, Ashley) saw predictable post-Olympic slumps in performance. The world had forgotten who Elizaveta Tuktamysheva was after a disappointing runup to Sochi. So, she took advantage of a great opportunity to re-introduce herself and ran with it, smashing the competiton and cementing her technical dominance by gaining the 3A.
In our infinite wisdom, we predicted she would have a long and iron-clad reign. As they say however, it's always harder to stay at the top than to get there. Now that she has been redeemed as a World Champion, maybe there is nothing really left to prove...and maybe competitions should be less about winning and more about developing her artistry. It worked for Ashley Wagner, for example, and surprise, surprise...Ashley is now getting those great results. Right now...I feel like her coach is making terrible decisions for her. She always has the same jumps, the same spins, the same sort of choreography...always performed to some dark and moody or oriental cliché. She deserves better, and I hope it works out. She's one of my favorites and I really wanted to see her making it to the next Olympics after all she's been through. It's really mind boggling how competitive Russia is. World and Olympic Champions struggle to even get into the top 5, let alone onto the national team. Crazy....

She's not a PCS skater. Weak skating skills, slow, barely any ice coverage. She needs to do 3A and hard 3x3 to improve her PCS. If Boying can improve his PCS by upping the TES, so can Liza. Her PCS were pretty good the season she did 3A. Same kind of terrible choreography and empty program then with similar number of errors, too.
She couldn't beat Satoko who had 2 URs in the SP and a bunch more in the LP when she herself was as clean as she normally would hope for. That is writing on the wall to bring back the 3A. Whatever she's doing now will not be enough to beat the likes of Satoko, Wagner, Pogo, and a bunch of other girls. Basically she's the Zhangs in 2010.
Zero transitions don't mean low transition score if you land all the big jumps and look confident.

I don't think Liza's low pcs is directly related to her tes.
She does look very slow to me on the screen, and her program is very very empty. Two seasons ago, at least I could see she loved her programs and she was trying her best to sell them. Not this season. Maria Sotskova will be likely to be the #3 Russian lady after Evgenia and Anna.

First, Mishin should not take the blame for Liza's low PCS at SC, and second, I don't think you can simply define Mishin as nothing more than a "jumping coach". The work of a great coach like Mishin is not only limited to the technical side of skating, and he has many other things to offer, much more than you can imagine. That is why Carolina came to him repeatedly in this new season. To say the least, without Mishin's persistence and help, Liza would have never recovered from the lowest point of her career and become a WC. Liza is a very good jumper, but physically she has some obvious weaknesses which do not help her skating look better to a certain extent. Since Mishin and Liza are one team, the decisions on the music/choreography are doubtless jointly made. At present I don't think she can cope with any more complex programs taking all things into consideration, and I don't want to see her get injured again by being pushed too hard, either. Now you can clearly see that she is regaining her self-confidence on ice little by little, but to relive her "former glory", we have to be a bit more patient.

Yes. And Mishin doesn't work alone. He has ballet dancers, choreographers in the team. I remember for an interview with Mishin some years ago. He told when Liza came to his team he saw a little girl, who can jump and she had very weird move. I think they were working on Liza's movement very much. But I don't think they wanted to completely take out the characteristic movements. That is Liza and no one else.

In this case i think the Russian Fed is better than the US Fed: instead of pushing the same three ladies (in order to create "the best team possible"), even when they are in terrible shape, Russia lets the ice rink to decide who will go to Europeans and Worlds.
Mishin is still her best coach possible:
- she said very clearly that she is proud to be in SPB instead of Moscow. Mishin has still the biggest and most successfull team there.
- Moving abroad in US or Canada is expensive and it remains to be seen wether is convenient or not for her: the training conditions are usually worse, and maybe she should change her nationality to be treated fairly.
As well as Tatiana Prokofieva is the best choreographer for her: she knows who Liza is, her strenghts and weaknesses and her musical tastes and Mishin is involved in the process so he doesn't have to destroy a program made by someone else. Last season, Lambiel and Caro had tried to create a sophisticated LP for her but she never owned it even at the beginning of the season before Mishin's cuts.
I like her, shame she has never received the PCS she deserved even in her hit seasons; i guess Russia can't have the artistic skater.

1. Get rid of those batwing outfits. It makes her arms look so small, T-rex like, and amplifies her figure in a very unflattering view.
2. Work with someone who can actually do choreo. Christopher Dean did wonder for the Chock/Bates. That LP was so fantastic.
3. Chase Pogo around the rink to improve the speed.
She's already had the jumps, everything else is relatively easier compare to what the other girls are struggling with.

2. I think the issue is somehow not the lack of choreo skills. Because she has been getting choreo from people who are said to be good and it still ends up the same Liza choreo.
Also, there is a bunch of good Russian choreographers too which may be more affordable and closer to home
1) she was perfect at Nationals;
2) Although there were mistakes in her performances at the Europeans, she was good enough to win the bronze.
3) At the end, the fed was right: both Evgenia, Anna and Elena were on fire at Worlds, it was the best team ever for Russian Ladies FS.

Yup, but take the previous year - she bombed worlds entirely.
I mean, even having some depth, russian fed seems to stick to the choice, not replacing the #3 even if the europeans performance is not so great.
Here's the thing: i don't think Anna would have been part of the world team last season if she bombed Nationals. After Worlds 2015 and the disappointing GP season it was up to her to prove that she was still in the mix.
The judges / the federation were very clear looking at the short program podium: a clean Yulia was better than a clean Anna and Adelina had a chance too to overtake her.

Yes, but short program is one thing and second thing is free skate and Anna had technicaly better FS had Anna then Yulia. But I am wondering how it will be at Rostelecom . My personal guess is 1. Elena , 2. Anna , 3. Julia

I think if Anna skates cleanly, she'll win. She's got the speed, big jumps and that World bronze medal.
I'm not too sure how Elena is doing. I haven't seen anything from her since her test skate a few months ago, and it was not a good performance.
Julia is the wild card. She had a really rough skate at Ondrej Nepela: lots of URs in both programs, edge calls, etc. If she has similar problems she'll likely miss the podium. However, if she can keep her mistakes minimal and skate well, she could place 2nd or even 1st.
Elizabet Turzynbaeva or Courtney Hicks could spoil a podium sweep by the Russians if one of them skates well, but for the most part this is a Russian battle.

Anna Pogo and Mika Kolyada will have their chances to shine in Moscow, after their fantastic performances at Worlds.
But i've the feeling Elena Radionova can still be a top contender for this season: the bv of her programs are high (the long even higher than Evgenia's FS), if she manages to fix her posture and stay consistent, with two beautiful programs this could be her season.
Last season she was great at Rostelecom cup, but we don't know nothing about her shape and the long program so it's hard to tell.

I don't want to underestimate Elena before I will see her FS. She was sick on test skate so I don't really count this. But last year she was most of the time winning over Anna, so thats why I think she can beat her again. And Yulia can probably just surprice. The athmosphere will be tense for the russians .
