He was drilling the 4S3T quite a few times during the gala practice, some successful some not. It was definitely frustrating him since he let out a sound of frustration at one point. I wonder if the fact that he takes the trajectory for the set up on a bit of a curve is what messes with it, sometimes when skaters go into those corners I worry they'll run out of room and hit the boards.
He does seem to get very near the boards when he does his combo... I wonder how Javier goes into his. In general it seems like Javier does his jumps nearer the middle of the rink rather than the ends.

He is crazy. Will we be seeing that combo in competition anytime soon? ;)

Everything is possible with our boy but he is very aware and cautious now. I think he was responding to the challenge of Evgenia. He never wants to lose.
He is really crazy about jumps. He is so happy and I'm very proud of him. It was a very difficult period for him, but he is starting to reap the fruits of what he planted with his hard work, and the best will come. I trust him.

He is so loved ...

ANA's official page of his interview in last summer
I didn't know they have the official site in another language.

The Japanese page and it's translation by fan site were already posted a few days ago.

Thank you so much !:thank: :points:

Guys I tried switching on the english subtitles on the italian video but they didn't work. So if anyone else is having trouble and is curious about what they say, just tell me and I'll post the translation.:agree:

[Engsub] Yuzuru Hanyu - Notte Stellata [The Swan]

I cant count the number of times i watched the video or listened to the music. Their voices are trained well and have operatic aspect, but at the same time, mordearn. Further, young! Actually, they are in the same generation as yuzu. In many ways, their voices show perfect match with yuzu.

This is Raisport. The female commentators usually are Arianna Secondini and Franca Bianconi and the man is Fabrizio Pedrazzini (ex ice dancer). In these videos he's commentating only him and a woman i don't know.

SP:
Woman: Yuzuru Hanyu, 21 y.o
P: The alien like we love to call him, because he has shows us things.. and he is an idol in Japan, and he's incredible. Let's see what he presents us today on the music of Let's go crazy of Prince
w & p: Oh wahh
P: Big error in the 4L at the beginning
P: Only 3S
P: Fabolous 3A
w: Fabrizio here we came down a little in the tech aspect but there is more partecipation (interpretation), maybe because music his is hobby
p: Less tech, more talent. This boy is a talent through and through
P: He didn't entusiasm me like other times, because in the first part there were too many errors in the jumps, the almost fall, i saw him less present. But in the second part i appreciated very much how he followed completely the musical aspect
P: 37 in the tech
p: before he leaves the ice he bows, because in Japan there is the culture of thanking the ice. Very cute thing. He thanks the audience and the ice.
w: very cute
p: here with his coach Brian Orser, looking not very happy, slightly worried
w: The first results are coming. For the performance 8.71, not low,not high
p: Absolutely speaking is not bad, but we are talking about the olympic champion so
w: it was expected something more
P: Yes, too many errors. The 4l was not even called 4l, so very low GOES. 3S was the 4S.
p: This is the 4l, look how he lands forward, so he lost the points
P: He lost the combination. Very difficult landing so -2 Goes
p: Marvelous 3A, jumped from a very difficult step.
P: Too many errors
p: Beautiful spins, very fast.
p: In the Steps a great musical involvement. Very natural.
w: He kind of compensates the tech. element with something more captivating
w: 79.65. Very low
p: very low. If you consider his personal best is 110.95
One minute and I'll post the FP.

FP:
W: Now the men. We begin in style with Yuzuru Hanyu. 4th after the short.
P: Great delusion in the short program, but he made errors in 4l, 4s, in the jump elements except the 3A.
P: The Alien, let's call him that. Because like him (there are) very few
P: And 4L, like in the short the rotation was not complete
P: 4S
P: 3F
P: Only 2S+3T
P: 4T
W: The alien
P: 3A+2T
P: 3A+3S
P: 3LZ. Like it's nothing
P: Oh (at Yuzuru's loss of balance)
w: One smear. Too bad, until now he was in unison with every note
p: He has an incredible musicality
w: the music is his hobby, it shows. He integrates himself with the music
p: He has the capacity of highlighting every element with the music. I have in mind some of his performance where after 3 seconds I had goosebumps
p: look how much the audience loves him. Look at the plush toys. His lucky charm is Winnie the Pooh.
W: Indeed look how many there are
p: He is an idol, he can go on the ice distancing incredibly all the others
P: Seeing him live it's impressive how natural he is, his rotations
P: Here he's hugging his coach Brian Orser
w: Brian Orser that with Tracy Wilson coaches this very young alien
p: very young alien, he comes from another dimension
P: He is very thin so he has a rotation in the air, a speed. And you know what he does? He does everything like it's so simple. Now he presented 4L,4S,4T in the second half so he has the bonus. But he start, goes, jump like it's nothing
p: and he is extremely humble. Always thanking
P: Look at the fans in tears, how they follow him
P: Look here, 4L, see the lightness, but the landing, the right toe is too forward
P: This is the 4S, look how natural when he goes in the air, and relaxed when he lands. Like he's saying is so easy (? i could't hear)
w: fluid
p: this is the 4T. Here the landing is a little more forced, he didn't kick the free leg fast enough
p: 3A3S. Look at his technique, of course he has it otherwise he couldn't jump at this level, but it's not rigid. Natural
w: 183.41. he goes in the lead. tech 96.29 and the deduction for..
p: ..something was considered a fall

Our alien
The most lovable alien of them all, thank you for the translation!
I know it wasn't the worst performance but i'd like to erase SC SP for the time being... It's heartbreaking

Having watched CoR now, my impression from SA and even SC is just enhanced. Smart Yuzuru with those four quads, very, very smart. It is so going to matter.

PCS margin is becoming smaller and smaller tes will decide in the end, and cleaner skate

Exactly what I was thinking. Considering how PCS is being scored lately, clean skate + higher TES will tip the scales. There's no playing it safe now. He read the situation so well.

He needs high BV and also master that layout to skate clean...if you skate clean with high bv you automatically get high PCS and GOE ,transitions and following rules doesn't matter much, like having step before solo quad or so...judges don't care about it. he 's been so wise to take 4 quads 2 years before olympics and not next year.

Absolutely. That one season extra to get used to it may end up tipping the scales, I honestly wouldn't be surprised at all because I also expect him to tinker next season again. The change though would be far less drastic, than having to do it all next season.

And you know, a part of me wonders if his injury gave him the extra push to risk it. I mean he already doubted if he would perhaps even have to miss out on the season. So when he saw that he could, well what does he have to lose with doing a 4 quad program now? The answer is absolutely nothing, it's all one giant positive for him.

When we hear about his thinking process, how he analizes the situation in every aspects he can think of, I always find it so fascinating. Like last year when he decided to upgrade his layout and at many it seemed a controproductive move, but he knew better. His approach towards the sport is so interesting, it's like every competition is a battle and he is making an attack plan. It's so true when they say he is a fighter.

I am glad Yuzuru is aming for higher layout now  he is so smart... now maybe he will bring 4lz if needed

He's definitely a more long-term strategist compared to some of the other top competitors. He just needs to be more okay with the 'lose some battles but win the war' strategy to not overtrain this season. He's already super impressive so far considering he even thought about skipping the season due to his jumps not being there and how much practice time he lost.
