The one that was bullied because his choice of music of a recently deceased mexican composer, Donovan Carrillo i think. They were saying that he could win Pyeongchang because Yuzu falls a lot (wat)

Well, Nikiforov DID beat Yuzu's record, didn't he ?

Nikiforov beat all the records

And whoa, someone ate something wonky if they believe that. His overall score still hasn't reached 170. Huh.

I guess they were trying to defend him, i mean, i would love to defend my country to and nothing would make me happier than watching fs get popular here, but...
They did shut up after i linked them to Seimei  still, the fact that they use "he falls a lot" as an excuse really irks me.

Scores of male skaters would have to fall apart and bomb before that boy gets to win Pyeongchang. :) But I wish him all the very best!

The level of kuyashii would be too high
It would be a wonderful thing for me if that boy got better, people might start having interest in this sport and i would be a very very happy person if that happened.

Galaxy!Hanyu is currently staring at me from the computer screen. I feel intimidated and happy hahaha

Ah I totally get being patriotic but they should be proud of him anyway. It's not like Mexico is a big skating nation, so it's that much harder for these youngsters to develop. Major congratulations to him for fighting for it all, and fingers crossed, who knows, maybe he can somehow reach one of the better coaches if the federation is willing, and capable, of supporting him.

Maybe it's also that they don't really, truly, understand the difference in difficulty between the top men and him. Not just the jumps but everything else. I usually find this the most difficult thing to explain because while it's easy to explain quad, triple, combo, to beginners the rest is very hazy. Try pointing out steps or transitions and that might help too. When they don't understand just how hard something is, then it's the easiest to dismiss it.

My recomendation to Yuzuru: Get rid of all transitions, he does not need them, other skaters have no step before quads and they get no deduction at all. Seriously Yuzuru might get more consistent without all those transitions. But knowing Yuzuru, he must add more transitions, so if anything happens, his scores are always justified.

I hope he will never do this, regardless of whether it gave him those extra GOE or not. This is what makes Yuzuru's skating thrive and shine among others tbh. King of transitions. :cheer:
However, I do think that IF this pool of men were gathered together and compete at the same event, those transition and steps into jumps is what will set him apart from others and prop up his GOE, and the GOE of other skaters would be adjusted to him as the standard. As much as they use CoP, the judges mind still sometimes work like 6.0 and give GOE and PCS in an ordinal manner :palmf:

Well, it's just people who have only watched a couple of figure skating videos in their life at most. They don't even know the kid is still a junior  (you wouldn't believe how many false statements I've corrected on his videos on youtube)

But we know criticism is something that comes along with being at the top of the sport, no one can escape that. In a way, it's good that Yuzu is held to such a high standard because that way people would hardly argue about his victories (someone always complains about the scores but not his placement). And well, we get his unforgettable performances that, even though they didn't take place at Worlds, will be highly regarded by many skating fans (and skaters themselves!) throughout the years

I'm curious, someone posted a few pages back the possibility of a change in the SP costume. But was that just speculation of the writer of the article or did Yuzu himself say he was considering it?

This is what annoys me the most. He's probably got the most difficult programs out there but people complain about how he falls and still get a high score. Please... if someone else can execute his programs better than he does let me know. :sarcasm:

PCS is high because it deserves to be, at Skate Canada seeing him skate in the warm up and next to other skaters, there was a huge difference between him and the rest (except for Patrick, they're in the same boat). He really fills up the rink, like he's not that big for a figure skater but his presence is big. I remember he would do a few forward crossovers and be jetting off to the other side, other skaters would do 3-4 back crossovers and still wouldn't have the same speed, nevermind Yuzuru has all these crazy transitions. You'd have to watch live to really know, the choreography also seemed quite difficult, there isn't really a moment to breath. He goes full speed into every jump while some of the other men would slow down, with Yuzuru there's really no hesitation which makes him exciting to watch. It just clicked after seeing him and Patrick live why they get a PCS cushion.

It really is completely different when you see them in person. I went to Worlds in Boston and Yuzu commands your attention as soon as he steps on the ice. He is a huge presence. Before Worlds I didn't understand the hype around Patrick, but when he skates it is magic. Same with Yuzu. Even my Mom, who is not a skating fan at all, saw that there was something special about both Yuzu and Patrick.

I just had a moment that Yuzu would be proud of lol. I bought new headphones (actually entry level in-ear monitors. I'm picky about sounds, i like to be able to hear all instruments) and watched the FS on a computer that can actually support full hd with no problems in the biggest tv on my house.
If i did't love the Hope&Legacy program before, now i fell in love completely. The music is full of details i didn't notice before, and they are perfect for the choreography. Now i understand why he has so many headphones hahaha (i feel jealous)
Also, ow until now i didn't see his expressions with H&L, i admit i laughed a little when he missed the first jump, he made a frowny face that was quite funny for me

and suddenly I think he made good choice to skate in white in SP

the only problem is.. no one can see him :laugh2:

but overall I think he should wear black pants with purple top, something like Tessa Virtue is wearing in their SP this year

I can see him perfectly well. Totally do not agree on Tessa's costume. Not flattering on her.

this news clip is a part of the program about CoR concerning Javi.
but the video shows the image which we havent watched before. White jersey yuzu is pretty cool!

Thanks Hamaguri :) Could you translate what Javier says? I can't hear him well with the Japanese voice-over, although I got that he said that they were friends and that they respected each other.

He needs to skate well at NHK to lay down mark before GPF, because his rivals scores will be cooked trough roof before that

When is the top men's scores not overscored though? :rolleye: (Like how in the world does Javi have like a higher PCS than Yuzu, Patrick and Shoma????)
