2016 Trophée de France Mens FS

I have to say the comments of the b.euro, Chris(, or is he Simon? I would appreciate someone to correct me;)) and Mark, is spot on!
Is Mark new addition to the team? I enjoy listening to their sharp and honest comments. Mark did an interview with TSL. And absolutely loved him.

It was Simon. Haven't heard Chris this season :sad21:

Nathan's PCS makes me furious. 79.36??? Hell. No. Considering a skater like Misha Ge got 79.94.

Why do the judges think Nathan deserves that kind of score? The top 3 were way ahead in the 80s and 90s. But still, a 72 is much too high.

THANK YOU!!!!:thank:

I think Nathan is more comfortable with two jumps than edge jumps. Be that due to comfort or his hip hurting him on edge jumps is anyone's guess. He did a 2lo a 2A and a 4S that he fell on. He is clearly a toe guy for one reason or another.

This is a good question. It was a triple Sal that forced me to choose between skating and dance. My final year of skating included zero Sal's because they really hurt my hip flexor muscles. If Nathan can improve his Component mark, he won't need to attempt 4 quads in his LP. However, he's got to get his 3A to fire under pressure and that's a problem he's had for a while.

Sure.

But I'm looking at it like this: He did a successful 4Z-3T and 4F within the first minute of his program. Within the next minute he fell on a 4S and a 4T. Then at the start of the bonus he landed a second 4T (his fifth, unplanned quad) but had to put his hand down and couldn't get a combo off it, costing him points.

It's pretty clear 4 quads are too much for him right now. How many are optimal? Is he better off just doing two really great jumping passes at the beginning and focusing on components? Or can he add a third, and if so, what quad should it be and where should he place it?

Today he did the same thing as he did at Finlandia - planned 4 quads, had two falls, and added an extra quad to compensate for the points lost on the falls. I don't think it's the smartest strategy, but he seems like a really headstrong kid, and I wonder if Marina will be able to convince him otherwise.

Was a nanny for a little girl who loved that movie and you are correct she wasn't really what the term has come to mean. I meant it in the common useage.

Yes. That's the way it is with many expressions that go way over the edge from the original reference. I didn't necessarily mean to go into "teaching mode," but I always find it interesting to be presented with interesting little details, even when they're OT.

More OT: :)) The prisms are my favorite part of the movie.

:luv17::love: Chills!!! Oh Adam !!! Just beautiful. Just so happy. Great job Adam. :agree:
Does anyone know if Adam is going to the GPF and if he is is would this be his first time?

The program is just so light and airy and so well choreographed. Just stunning. To see him skate that this after 8 years of struggling, it just makes me teary eyed.
Does anyone know what Tatiana was saying during Adams skate, I get the impression she liked his program.

The choreography of Rippon was pure cringe. I thought Machida took the cake for the tackiest bird program for his Firebird LP but this performance blows that out of the water. I am shocked anyone actually thinks this is a good program.

Well, be shocked then. We all have different tastes.

I'm esastic for Adam. A beautiful 4T and two GP medals, his best year ever on the GP. :cheer: The witch is back!

I'm also happy to see Denis healthy and on the podium again. It's been a long time.

I'm not sure two bronze medals would be enough to make the final?

If anyone needs a GPS watch it's Denis Ten.

And lucky them they are getting them from Brian Joubert.

If Chen had gone with an easier layout (say, 3 quads), and focused on maxing out GOEs and step and spin levels, he could have scored over 100 in TES. Enough for silver, without risking another surgery.

D10's step seq gave me goosebumps.
I'm really happy to see him skating like this.

This was one of the highlights of the event for me. Love, love, love that step sequence. D10 looked better here than I've seen him in awhile.

Also really liked Adam Rippon's performance here. I found myself drawn in. Oh, and his Rippon lutz jump is what this feature was meant to be. It's stretched and elegant, not just throwing a hand over the head for the sake of it. Today he definitely deserved to beat Nathan Chen.

Enjoyed Fernandez yet again. He's refining the performance side of this program and I enjoy it.
