Piper Gilles & Paul Poirier

Here's their exhibition to Ella Fitzgerald's "Reaching for the Moon" https://youtu.be/977rs5mvIiA

Piper and Paul...these two make me a bigger fan of their's each season. Their SD and FD are incredibly entertaining, interesting, and beyond amazing. Piper in the ice blue FD looks stunning. Paul really upped his performance level this season and really brought it in the Disco Inferno section. In the past, I've always been more drawn to Piper than Paul with their performing, but this year they have really connected with each other and the characters they are portraying.

Their tango is starting to get in to me, but I think that Piper needs to change her dress colour. Blue here makes to cold effect for passionate tango

they should have won this skate canada fd event. grr...

for the first time ever their pcs were actually... decent. and the two of them were technically so clean.

i actually like v/m fd as a program a lot - probably my favourite fd this season but boy was it sloppy this time and the sharp, crisp quality of everything g/p did in their fd made it all the more obvious. overall i think g/p should have taken silver after rightfully winning the fd - which, of course they did not... is there ever hope for medals with them? if they get to go to gpf, they will still be lowballed (particularly in pcs) and be like... 5th or 6th. and it is hardly possible to have a cleaner skate than they had at this fd event. and the performance and interpretation scores for this fd should be no way lower than 9s, ever. still only 110. sigh

Many congrats to Piper and Paul for their podium finish at Skate Canada! :yahoo: and a bit of a shame they didn't place higher...
Anyway, it's going to be interesting to see how they are to judged with Tessa/Scott and Kaitlyn/Andrew at the Nats in January.

Good luck and injury-free to them in the rest of the season! :hap10::hap10:

I love both of their programs :luv17: They were on point this weekend. I'm very happy for them :)

I'm so in love with their programs  We have seen almost all top teams as for now (with the exception of Sinitsina/Katsalapov) and Piper & Paul has definitely the best programs this season! I have no idea why their PCS wasn't a little higher in FD, I measn, seriously! I think training under Carol Lane, who can concentrate on them, is doing them very well compared to teams that train in large groups. A shame we probably won't see them before Canadian Championships...

knowing them and their coaching team, not going to GPF means : extra work, adjustments, making sure levels will be awarded by the infamous tech panels, etc.... they are eager to make their mark. They have fabulous programs, my favourite of the season as well... I would have loved to see them at GPF but they needed to pull H/D behind them to do so.... very unfortunate... even Weapo is not guaranteed GPF at this point... in any case, to end my thought, I think they will get to Nationals and will shine.... the only issue will be "are Canadian judges/federation willing to give them a higher ranking than 3rd at Nationals, especially if the expected top two makes GPF?"

exciting field in Canadian Ice dance right now. I love all three teams but I definitely prefer G/P's programs.

Yeah, my thoughts excatly. I really love WeaPo too, but if both teams skate well, I would put P&P higher this season. If such amazing programs won't be awarded, then what will be? After 2018 Olympics, they are definitely the ones to keep Canadian Ice Dancing on top.

Canadian ice dancing is certainly in a strong spot. Although I would agree that the top two are more likely V/M and Wea/Po, I wouldn't rule out Piper and Paul. They are building momentum and V/M and W/P are both susceptible to mistakes in the past which could cost them at Nationals. I do see this group pretty solid at 1-2-3. Islam and Paul are going to have to wait until after the next Olys.

imho they will be on top of the world after 2018... sounds like 6.0... but i expect it.

i think P/I are over... they went to sotchi so i m glad they got that experience... i would be surprised if they continued much longer. sad... it feels like the stars never align sometimes in fs

I hope not! I love their work and this year's FD is very good. I would rate them with the top Canadian and American teams. Let's see how the season evolves ...
