I don't have much hope actually. I think he will struggle quite a lot in the first half of the season. At GPF it will be a fest to for some skaters and it won't be easy for Yuzuru. I don't want him to peak early, but I also don't want him to struggle too much before the judges' eyes as they are willing to write him off any time.I think a better indicator of the way the wind is blowing will first be NHK... but more importantly, GPF. At GPF all the horses will be in the same ring, with the same set of judges, so I will contain my ire until then.
I am really annoyed by the logic "they saved Hanyu in the SP he messed up, so they took it back in the LP". It's wrong. They save other of their favorites in the SP and even overscore those skaters in the LP.
And I am really annoyed, some skaters automatically get +2 and +3 GOE when they land their jumps regardless of whether they have transitions or NOT. But when Yuzuru land his jumps and got low GOE they use all the excuse "less transitions, tilt in the air". I want to slap them and tell them to watch the performances that got all +2 and +3 GOE for almost every elements. Some skaters skate like snail during step and choreo sequences and get all +2 and +3 and it's justified. What the hell is that logic? Not to mention their double standards, they punish some skaters for no direct steps before solo jump but gave +GOE for others.
I find ISU judging more and more disgusting.
No wonder Yuzuru has to upgrade layout. Even with better quality and transitions, he just gets the same as some others. At this rate I am not surprised he will even bring 4lz to competition.
I second everything letter in this sentence. Judges are grossing me out.
All this talk about 2018 forward....it would be nice if he goes back to Nanami for his last few years (if he continues). I wonder if her health permits all the traveling required though.
Whatever the case, I just hope fans (and him) have realistic goals if he stays. I want him to put his health as a priority and as it stands, his body already has too much wear and tear.

That would be really nice, the program that Nanami gives him really make him unique and truly create his own distinguish style. But regrading the health, consider his personality if he continue I think he will always give all out and give us heart attack as usual.![]()
Sigh....I don't want to face that possible reality yet.

Reminded me of this confession on lucky strike (the new nicknameNHK is in Japan, his home country so we'll have a pretty good idea how things are developing though the true test will be GPF if he qualifies, when he's in one place with lucky strike and everyone else.

He makes all the difficult entries look so easy that the judges don't seem to be impressed anymore, even though no one else is doing them. They compare his 3A and quad qualities to his best and mark them down while they compare others to their worst and mark them up.
I started following FS more closely becoz of Yuzu, and I feel so sad for him because he worked so hard to perfect his steps, transitions, difficult entry, jumps flow, spins, choreo/artistic aspects and continuously upgrade his layout risking injury and his health. He never gave up and he persevered, so much respect for him. I will cheer and follow-up on Yuzu even after he retire, but I too don't think I will follow FS again.Feel the same...time to start a petition for fair scoring of FS events? I mean, after Yuna retired only Yuzuru kept me into FS, but I'm not sure I will follow it after he retires...the scoring is so blatantly biased.

He does, or you could say he gets less than others get with easier, poorer performances. Of course, if Yuzuru downgraded to what they are doing, something which he could execute in his sleep, they'd give him even less. It's called being stuck between a rock and a hard place, so of course he upgrades further. 4Lz would not be a surprise at all, we'll see how it's going to go till the end of the season but it may end up being inevitable.
And this has another consequence. I don't think it's just that the judges say, we won't give you the good scores unless you perform the best, I think they want consistency from him in order to hand them out which is very difficult with his lay-outs. So NHK is important in that way too, because the judges will grab on to the negative and then carry it onward.
Meh. I never thought I'd say it but work that home turf JSF, work it. And push behind those scenes. He's the biggest skating star of the world, no matter what some people who live in their little bubbles want to think and there's a reason for it. Protect that. There are so, so many ways considering the current state of skating to do so.
:agree:
It seems there’s almost an unanimous agreement among Yuzu’s fans about the reason why he has to constantly upgrade his layout to remain competitive , but why?
I wonder what makes the difference between Yuzu and Javi since they have the same team : is Spanish federation so powerful?
Unfortunately I don’t think JSF will push Yuzu behind the scenes, he’s the old one , who’ll probably retire after 2018 Olys, so he’s done. It’s a deja vu.

You are the first and the only skater I love and support wholeheartedly.
