Alexander Petrov

Speculation which does not hold water at all so please end this "no stamina" talk because criticism that is not backed up by evidence is not helpful.

Fact is that he was scored lower on PCS than guys with almost 20 points lower TES, only one 3A and no quads. So can you really say his PCS is related to jumps/quads when the evidence says otherwise?

The other men with horror skates did do quads or attempt quads and judges know what they can do at their best while this is maximum Petrov and it isn't working. Some Judges are giving Jin higher SS marks than chan! Pcs does include jumps in a way. Judges need to be grabbed by something. Petrov currently doesn't have anything. Even a quad toe would generate some talk about progression.

Except that when Sasha did attempt a quad and had it in his layout his PCS wasn't any better. You're just trying to be negative for negative sake. Unless you make a statement based on evidence, I'm not going to bother with replying, it's a waste of time.

Okay, done reading the Russian forums. I have something to say to certain posters on FSO, Tulup etc who read this thread and I know some of you do because I recognize your IDs in this forum. If you're one of those who has been bashing Sasha, firstly, his layout is not his choice. He has no say in his jump layout. And secondly, bashing him won't make your guy look any better. The more you bash him, the worse your favourite looks because if Sasha is even anywhere as near as bad as you think he is (which is he NOT), then your guy is just horrific if he keeps losing to Sasha on TES time and again.

That's all I have to say about this.

At Nebelhorn he didn't do a quad. He popped it. His pcs was 74. Now it's basically the same with no quad attempt at all. How could it hurt to try quads and fail but have the potential for success? Now he's not even trying. That sends a bad message. I don't feel you are giving any reasons why the judges don't like him! Sure you don't know and have no evidence but historically why haven't judges liked skaters? You know some didn't like stojko and some judges said why. Some judges don't like max Aaron and have said why. Or their coaches talked about what judges told them. Like with Boitano too. Tom Z is always talking about judges. I am just applying those situations to this one with Petrov. Judges don't like him. Don't like him at all. Even talking about him doing a 3T as practice makes his free skate seem like part practice session and unfinished and incomplete.

No gala invite. I would like to forget this competition. Actually I would like to forget both GPs.

Spin levels in the FS were better than in the SP but the stsq was worse.
Generally both instances are quite noticeable on first viewing.

I would prefer it if they had put his stsq at the end of his FP instead of where it currently is. Stsq in his FS was placed at the most monotonous part of his music and has no impact. The "I'm Gonna Live Til I Die" cut is the best part of his music to put a stsq, the rhythm is great. Just comparing the stsq in his SP with that of his FP and the difference is noticeable and it is pretty obvious why one is level 4 and one is level 3. The same thing happened at Finlandia btw, so this is not a one-off thing.

I absolutely agree with this - that is a great idea; he could really let rip in that part, and show some energy; I think that would improve the impact of the program overall.

It was a strategic error by whoever who placed the stsq where it currently is, either his choreographer or coach.
It occurred to me at the first showing of his FS, way back at the 1st Stage of the CoSPB. Why? Because when I was cutting clips from his FS to show other fans, I found myself making a clip of his chsq (which occurs during that music cut I mentioned) and completely forgetting about his stsq.

And sorry but music aside that stsq itself is also mundane, it does not utilize the full range of body movement unlike his SP stsq. Of course his SP stsq doesn't always score a level 4 at every competition but it has more potential to than the FS one.

What alarms me is that Mishin still couldn't find a way to improve his students's levels.

Sasha's baidu bar manager was quite far back in the audience (a source of heart break for her) so the photos didn't turn out well and in any case she gave up taking them on day 2. So unfortunately, there won't be many on-ice photos of Sasha from CoC.

Guys, remember, don't feed the trolls.

No one has said anything trolling. Changing coaches must be an option. You say nothing was working during the gp! So what can be done to help includes changing coaches, changing training, changing layout, changing programs and so much more. Only you can criticize? Only you can be trusted not to be concern trolling? These gps can't be forgotten! They must be used to improve and face why he's facing complete rejection by judges.

There's "criticism", and then there's writing post after post of relentless negativity - gmyers, do you honestly feel that your posts are suitable for a FAN FEST? So far I cannot think of one positive thing you've said.

Please show some consideration. Thank you.

Yes because rather than be seemingly hopeless and defeatist like others I am talking about ways to improve. It's good to have clean skates but if judges don't care that's a problem.

Finally, winter camp update.

Location: Courchevel France (Benoit will be there!)
Date: 5 to 13 January 2017

I was hoping that he would get a rest after Nationals but it looks like that won't be the case. However, Courchevel is better than Tartu if they insist on having a winter camp.

And so...
Updated list of relevant events:

Dec 7-10 Golden Spin of Zagreb*
Dec 20-25 Russian Nationals (Chelyabinsk)*
Jan 5-13 Courchevel Winter Camp
Jan 25-29 Euros (Ostrava)
Mar 29-Apr 2 Worlds (Helsinki)

* Denotes confirmed participation
