Sorry if this was already a topic, maybe I missed:
When after SP Hanyu came back to the boards Orser said something about his 4Lo - that it was fine (showing the curve of flight) just a little bit out (meant is off axis) "it was alright", even the Russian commentator repeated "alright" in English. Hanyu wasn' t so convinced I think.
And: What about his boots ? Edea piano or edea fly ? Maybe its not revealed if he got back to edea fly because of marketing reasons.

You can see that he's wearing piano , because the underside of the boot is yellow ( you can see it in some spins' photos ) while ice fly is white.

I just have to say, his 4LO looks so dangerous right now. He could seriously injure himself :ohwell:

I think it is fine for now. Dangerous when he falls yes but if he did not put it in his program he will never get the consistency (mileage anyway) so it is something that just had to be endured. Can't really expect the quality of his 4Lo to be the same as his 4S and 4T that he has been doing for years. Other than the axis, the landing is still a bit rough not as smooth as his sal and toe, and you can see how his upper body shakes a bit during the landing. But this is totally expected of a new jump. I'd say this has already looked better than the 2012/2013 when he first put in the 4S. The more he got used to it the better it will be quality wise.

This is Chinese (I think, so sorry), the SP, FS and EX. Do we have any Chinese speakers here?

Taiwanese TV I think, they are speaking Mandarin though.

My translation skills result in a very dry read...

SP [M = male commentator, F = female]

F: Next is Hanyu Yuzuru from Japan. He changed his SP costume color. Was the gold medalist from 2014 Olympics. 21 years old. This season he placed first at Autumn Classic and second at Skate Canada. Everyone is eagerly anticipating his performance.

M: First jumping pass, 4Lo, but stepped out. 4S-3T very nice. Flying spin. 3A very nice. Sit spin level 4. This stsq has a very special design, can earn a lot of points. Combination spin, again level 4. As you can see Hanyu Yuzuru has executed all seven elements very very well. He has great jumping ability, he can do 4S-3T very nicely with GOE +2 or +3. 3A also with great entry and can get high GOE. [Some technical stuff about spins that I don't understand, basically saying his spins are difficult and so level 4.] Therefore all the elements will score high, except the 4Lo with the step out, small error.

F: That's why after he finished he made the just-a-bit-more gesture, for the first jump. 4Lo is a very difficult element, at Autumn Classic he was the first skater to land this jump in competition. Although there was a slight error with the first jump, overall the performance was splendid.

[during slow-mo]

M: 4Lo step out gets negative GOE, but 4S-3T was of very high quality. Because the 3A had steps before the entry, it should receive difficult level, so will get +3 GOE. Intricate stsq, level 4.

F: The SP choreography is very wild, which was able to drive audience engagement. This season Hanyu Yuzuru's season's best for SP was 88.30, his personal best 110.95 was achieved at the last GPF, he is the current world record holder. He is still thinking (regretting) his first jump, just a tiny bit short of perfection.

M: I think his score should be over 100. [Then they read the scores.] A very shocking score. [Here by shocking she means massive.] Overtakes America's Nathan Chen, currently in first.

Unlike the other commentators, the Taiwanese (?) don't really gush over him (or anyone else).

GEEZ! I heard this one too.:dance3:I was sitting by the window and we probably were really close to each other.

off topic, but Kawaii shoes, eh? Now I am curious, I love cute shoes!

edit, this brand has a license deal with Disney. They should do a Winnie the Pooh heel!

on topic: I am away today, but I think I got the recording of the Dutch commentary okay, so soon as I can, I will try and write up that FS translation. (Unless someone else can get to it before me, of course!)

Ah, sorry about that, fixed. My ability to differentiate, unless I hit a word I know, is shockingly bad  Thank you so much for the translation, they still do have some nice things to say so it's always great to hear/read.

Yeah Chinese accents are not that easy to distingush, Taiwanese is the only non-standard accent I know

FS, a few bits I can't hear

Next is another skater from the host country, the 2014 Winter Olympics gold medalist, Hanyu Yuzuru. He scored 103.89 in the SP. He is the current record holder for all three world records. This season he won Autumn Classic and was second at Skate Canada. Now to enjoy his LP.

4Lo successfully completed. 4S very nice. Flying combination spin, then Biellmann position. Step sequence. 3F. 4S [can't hear this bit]. 4T quite nice. 3A-3T. Second 3A combo [can't hear this bit]. Flying sit spin. Impressive step sequence. Ina bauer. 3Lz. Combination spin. Everything aside from one 4S was very well executed.

Again, like yesterday, it was a bit short of perfection. Yesterday it was the 4Lo; today the 4Lo was successful but he fell on the second 4S. But the overall performance was excellent.
After his performance the young girls have a lot of work to do needing to quickly pick up those presents, lot of Winnie the Pooh becuase he likes Pooh. The kinds of Pooh plushies are increasing.

At Skate Canada he scored 183.41 for his LP. He is the current record holder for all three world records. Last year at GPF his LP scored 219.48 and his total was 330.43. Back then he broke the world record at both NHK and GPF.

[slow-mo]

First jump, 4Lo. Brian Orser very excited. 4S. 4T, done quite effortlessly. Change foot sit spin. Entire audience very focused watching his LP. He needs 144.56 to overtake Tanaka Keiji, which shouldn't be too difficult. [Read scores.] A new season's best. [Can't hear this bit.] Total 301.47, didn't set a new record but still passed 300 again. Can relax a bit now, surely he was quite nervous before.

Guys, if you ever go to Edge, skateluvr is trolking again, this time about Yuzuru. If you feel inclined, could you post some dismissive or funny comment but NOT engage her in a discussion? If people don't react in a dismissive way, or start being defensive, that thread will soon again turn into a Yuzuru bash thread. This person is such a troll, she even pestered me on PM a few times.

Replying, even only once *is* engaging.

If nobody replied, that thread would have been buried faster than the sun. Would have been better to reply to all the other threads instead.
