Satoko Miyahara

Yamato Tamura talks about Satoko's GP season (translation by ohlovesosweet)

We’re finished here with NHK Trophy. Miyahara Satoko was aiming to defend her title here, but once again, we were reminded that becoming the world’s best is not an easy task. When you’re competing at this level, maintaining your standing is not so simple. At both of her Grand Prix event this season, she didn’t skate to her full potential; however, she was still able to qualify for the GP Final, which serves as a baseline of what she is capable of doing. Even during times of struggle, the ability to maintain that minimum level of performance to produce results in bad times, no matter how small, is a marker of continuous growth. As you tread further into the season, you’re not necessarily going to be healthy throughout. If you’re able to persevere through the hard times, you’ll come out stronger on the other side. You will not lose as long as you persevere. I will continue supporting Miyahara and the rest as they continue onto the Junior GP Final, GP Final, Nationals, and beyond.

How Tiny Queen prepares to Grand PriX Final) Maybe. someone can help with translation...

First they show her working with Tom Dickson in Colorado Springs, then she talks about the disadvantage of being small and having to work on projecting a bigger presence on the ice. She worked with ballerina Miyako Yoshida (known for being a principal guest artist in The Royal Ballet). Yoshida said she had the same problem in England, she was small and most of all she really felt small. She taught Satoko some movements to make her appear bigger; how to move her arms and upper body. Then Satoko herself showed the differences. Then there's the opening pose of her FS in slow motion and you can see how she moves her upper body. Her goal this season is "motto tsuyoku, motto utsukushiku" which means "stronger and more beautiful".

Satton is so pretty :luv17:

She left Japan earlier today. She was interviewed at the airport and she said she is focused on her jumps and on skating a good short program.

oh wow, the book she is holding is Sun Tzu's "The art of war" I always knew she was the smart and educated girl but I would never imagined she is into military strategy and tactics
Bravo, Satton ! it is one of my favorite books. We share taste

I can't read what's on the cover of the book but one of the articles mentioned she's reading Ayumu Goromaru's journal, recommended to her by Yamato.

Hmmm... sounds kinda she has (or had got) something like inferiority complex because of being small... That's not good...

"The art of war" is not about military only... It's about fundamental principles of strategy and tactics, that can work in military, buisness and so on...
