[Video] Post 2016 NHK Dinner

Unfortunately, a weibo account is probably needed to watch this video: http://www.weibo.com/tv/v/EkoYPAOsU?fid=1034:8de9925df82917015704f4744fbcbec e

A brief translation of Yuzu's part (Source: 羽生结弦资讯台 Translated by: cherryncy @Golden Skate Please credit!)
  1. (Pretends to be a reporter interviewing Hino) How would you improve?
  2. Yuzu: I really enjoy the competition this time, I enjoy it till the very end of it including the GALA. I will continue to work extra hard, and hope that I can offer a performance that I can wholeheartedly smile to and be satisfied.
  3. Cute interactions between Yuzu and Domo

[Video] 161201 Nobu talks about Yuzu's dance video and his quad

Here's the video: http://www.bilibili.com/video/av7332597/

Translation (Source: the subtitle Translated by: cherryncy @Golden Skate Please credit)

REGARDING THE DANCE

Host: Mr Hanyu also danced to that right?
Nobu: Yes, I asked if he wanted to join and he happily joined in immediately. Great dance from him! Because he danced so well, I actually feel embarrassed to dance together
Host: Just to confirm, are Satoko and Keiji san...
Nobu: I think so too...Yes, they are not familiar with the dance and probably did not even watch the TV drama. But when we suggested to do it together, we all danced.
Host: Is Mr Hanyu able to dance so well from the start?
Nobu: We only danced to the chorus part, but he knows the entire choreography for the dance.
Host: (amazed) We tried this on (a dude)'s wedding too but it was really embarrassing.
Nobu: Yuzu is truly an expert. No wonder he's the King.
Host: We'll further discuss this later.

Host: Next is the section "Weekly sports" (...) Nobu's dance is so kawaii. Hanyu-kun's dance moves are ...
Another host: Really exaggerated, especially his waist.
Nobu: Really good at it, with the waist movements, hahaha
Host: How do you feel about it, Nobu?
Nobu: (Imitates Hanyu) It's dope to dance like this...haha
Host: Nobu-san is shrinking next to Mr Hanyu (due to Yuzuru's large movements)
Nobu: Yes, because of the limited space...But it was fun

REGARDING THE QUAD

Host: Regarding Mr Hanyu's new quad, could you please explain it to us? To start with "weekly sports", can you talk about the strengths of the "Absolute King" Yuzuru Hanyu (I loled at the word choice! Very anime!)
(.....)
Hanyu: 4lz. When this season finally comes to off season, it reaches the stage of "sliding" (he means, an imperfect land)
Narrator: Nobu will explain this to us later. Let us first appreciate Yuzuru Hanyu's LP on NHK. The programme begins with the new addition of 4Lo this season.
Nobu: Yes, right here. Although his axis is slightly tilted, look at his knees! The ability to make use of his flexible knees is Yuzuru's strength in jumps.
Host: Truly wonderful.

Narrator: 4Lo is the third hardest jump, aside from 4A. He executed the 4Lo, and creates the season highest record with over 300 marks. What ignites the "fire" in Yuzuru Hanyu's heart is the talented jumper, 17 yo USA teenager, Nathan Chen.
Narrator: Hanyu adds three quads in his free skate, which is a very challenging programme. On the other hand, Nathan Chen surpasses Hanyu by having four types and a total number of five quads. That is beyond the regular programme.
Hanyu: I am still unable to add in five quads in my programme. After watching Nathan Chen's programme, I feel like I am still doing basic stuff (whaaatttt)
Narrator: Therefore, Hanyu prepared a new jump, that is 4Lz. That is the hardest jump apart from 4A.
Hanyu: After hurting my left instep joint, the least burdensome jump to my left foot is 4Lz and 4Lo. Although I am not suggesting that it will be added to my programme next season, I think it is better to start (becoming an asset) as soon as possible.
Narrator: Jumping in figure skating creates an impact to your feet when jumping and landing. (YALL HAVE TO LISTEN TO 3:53. Hanyu gave a faint squeak when he fell. I can't be the only one thinking of a kitten) Yuzuru, having an injury on his left foot in April and then taking a rest, challenges the less burdensome 4Lo and succeed. We are all looking forward to his new 4Lz. We'll leave it to Nobu to explain to us the difficulty of 4Lz.

(...)

Host: Is it fine to skip 4F to 4Lz directly?
Nobu: (displays 4Lz) Look at the knee. Outward is Lz, Inward in Flip. When you look at the upper body, you know it is impossible to jump without twisting your body. You cannot twist less when you are jumping. It is difficult, but I have seen Yuzuru's 4Lz a few times in ice shows. It is gradually improving.
Host: Shoma learnt the 4F jump, right? So with the 4Lz, Yuzuru can have four types and can do five quads.
Nobu: Yes. And this will become a huge thing, after Nathan Chen.
(...)
Nobu: Because Yuzuru is now the record holder, by having 4Lo, people are already wondering if he will break the record again.
Host: If there is 4Lz, will he get to 350?
Nobu: yeah, how far can he get to?

Thank you so much for the translation.

First, so I was right! He does think that what he is doing compared to Nathan is easy. I figured that's what it meant. It makes me laugh and sigh and face-palm at the same time. Considering he is taking care though, it also kind of makes me happy as it's challenging him and keeping him engaged and energized in skating, trying to stay in the race (aside now that I think he's actually ahead of the race because I think this approach is way better and safer than what Nathan is doing, never mind that Yuzuru is a complete skater).

Second, he's not suggesting my foot  He obviously wants it, and it'll depend on how stable it gets, considering it's an Olympic year but also I do think he's speaking about seasons beyond the next one, which pleases me. That's why I am grateful to young skaters, Yuzuru is very competitive and they push him as much as he pulls them.

I know he's going to keep wanting to push himself, but gosh, I hope he stays uninjured :/ he doesn't need it, you know, he'll win anything if he skates clean, but of course, he already knows that, and that's not what skating is about to him...

 Yuzu's popularity in Japan is no joke!

"An 88 year-old Yuzu fan submitted an article to the newspaper. She was really depressed because two people of her age passed away. However, in hospital, she was cheered up when watching Yuzuru's magnificent ice performance on Television. Yuzu to her, is a lil prince that brings her happiness to live on. She wishes Yuzu well and healthy."

For myself, I am really surprised at first that my parents also enjoy watching Yuzu's performance. They barely know anything about this sport and, to be frank, Yuzuru is too "immature" to their taste considering what they usually prefer. I guess there is this something about Yuzu's performance that appeals to many people of all ages and cultures.

Do we have to be prepared for a 4S 4T 4L 4Lz olympic program? And a 4A attempt at the gala?

Thank you for the translation cherryncy!

If you don't mind me asking, can you recommend me Yuzuru's fanpage/fanbase in weibo? They seem to be pretty updated

Of course! :D Registering a weibo account is really helpful. Even though they only provide Chinese translation, they are very updated with all yuzu's news, programmes and photos (they even provide download links). Where can I find the English version of Sina Weibo I don't follow a lot but here's the list:

Fansites
羽生结弦资讯台
羽生结弦应援站YUZURINK

Personal Accounts that I follow
美雪YUZU
bear可萌

I think they also occasionally visit this forum. :p (don't be surprised if you see this message)

(I found these on weibo without source)

One thing I would correct the information.
Rumand (or Lumand) is not from Lotte, it’s from Bourbon. ;)

and here is Yuzuru as some Bourbon sweets and this is my favorite, awesome
(Don’t worry about it Yuzu, even your idol seems to love the purple thing so much :o: )

Thank you :D i had that photo as my phone's background for like two days. My heart leapt of joy every time i unlocked my phone and i'm not sure how much Hanyu-induced emotion can take in a day  I adore his smile in that photo :)
He is relaxed when he is in his hometown and he has some energy even in photos. He has many kind of attractions and they never bore me. he really is photogenic!

I'm pretty sure it's from a video where he was interviewed after the Olympics (?) and Akiko Suzuki was one of the reporters. She didn't tell him that she was going to be there, so he was surprised and smiled when he saw her as she introduced herself to ask a question. If that makes it easier for you to find the source video. :p
I don't have a video source but I pulled it from this gif...

Prepare to die from cuteness overload...

Also I think Raomina is right about where this is from, I haven't searched for a video though.

Thanks! I don’t remember well, but provably it was during the shows in Nagoya on April after sochi.

Very sad story. I lost my grandma to cancer earlier this year before attending worlds in Boston. She used to be a big figure skating fan and we would talk about the competitions. So I thought about her a lot while I was there and how I wished I could tell her about my experiences. But yeah it's just an example of how life is too short and we shouldn't waste the opportunities we have.

I went to Japan last year for my 30th birthday. I turned 30 while over there. So on the plan ride back a Japanese flight attendant was taking orders for drinks and I asked for wine. She asked my age, I told her 30 (which still felt weird to me to say) and she did a double take in disbelief, lol. I felt even more flattered considering she was Japanese and they are already used to people looking much younger than usual lol.
My deepest sympathy for your grandmother… she keeps watching figure skating from the heaven…
And thanks for goring to Japan! Most Japaese can’t do English and it may not be the place to travel around (in many places, Japanese signs only..), but im glad the number of visitors from overseas is increasing.

Thank you for all your works for many sourses. You are from Hong Kong? These are Chinese fan site? The images are clear and their subtitle jobs are so fast! So glad he is loved there so much and I feel gratitude to them. :)

Yes I am! The majority of the stuff I translated are from weibo, i.e. Chinese.

Thank you. I know she's in a better place and not in pain anymore, so that makes it a little better even though I think about her every day and even more now with the holidays.

I will probably visit Japan throughout my lifetime. It's one of my favorite places in the world and even though it will be cold I am looking forward to my study abroad trip in there next month with my school (we're going to Singapore as well though it will be hot there). I could get around pretty well in English and with the Japanese I already know. When I went to a couple of restaurants, the cooks were really nice and they enjoyed speaking to me to practice their English. And then I'd respond back in Japanese. So it was a win/win for everyone, lol. I got asked if I lived there several times so either I'm decently proficient or everybody's just super nice about my bad Japanese . I wouldn't mind living there for a few years (working at a multinational corporation) to gain more fluency. It's really helpful in the business world to know another language and culture.

While there I am sort of thinking about looking into those custom Yuzuru pillows. I have to figure out which department stores sell them. I'll be in Tokyo mostly (with a day trip to Osaka for mandatory Okonomiyaki ;))

To divert away from GPF anxiety, :luv17:
Let's take a flashback friday look at Yuzuru's 4Lz attempt early this year.
He made the rotation, and as you can see from the slow mo, he very barely prerotated it. If only he can stand on his feet, it will be beautiful :luv17:

That's a pretty 4Lz! Any landed ones with or without a video?
