Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

There is no video of a clean 4lz from Yuzuru. So maybe he will not bring it out soon. Maybe he will bring it to 2019 WC on home ice.

It's a straight backward landing. With practice he should have no problem to land it.

That's a pretty 4Lz! Any landed ones with or without a video?

There's no video of landed ones, it's already lucky to have this footage since he made this attempt at a practice on an ice show. However, several skaters and journalist who visited TCC have said that Yuzuru is able to land 4Lz. Brian and Yuzuru himself also mention that he is able to land 4Lz. Nonetheless, the consistency of this jump is highly questionable, I doubt we would see it from him anytime soon.

Maybe next season for the Olympics.

I was going through Yuzu's old protocols (yes, I know idk what to do with my free time), and I was looking at his 2012 SA FS protocol. And I noticed that his choreo sequence was invalid. I think it's the first time I've ever seen an invalid choreographic sequence, and I wanted to know if anyone remembered why it happened. Thanks

It has happened before as I remember a recent one in pairs's....I forgot if it was in this season or last. He had a terrible performance there so the most probable reason would be that he didn't fully utilize the ice surface during his chsq (his stamina was almost non-existent near the end).

Yuzu moments in NHK highlights (copy) broadcasted yesterday

Yuzu impromptu interviewing Ryuju, translation by Seiko Kobayashi @YHIFG
Yuzuru: How will you progress from now on?
Ryuju: I don't have enough techniques now, so I would like to improve as soon as possible. I have had this problem for a long time. Sorry to have kept you waiting. (Maybe Ryuju said like this because Yuzuru said jokingly in the former interview that he wants Ryuju to come to Yuzuru's level.)
Yuzuru: This is an interview with the star of today's.

Gif sets
- Yuzu at banquet
- Yuzuru taking pictures of Satoko & Domo-kun
- Yuzu, Ryuju & Keiji
- Team Japan (from Emi Hirai FB).

Another highlights video which included Yuzu SP, LP & banquet

NHK Trophy analysis of Yuzu's skating with Arakawa broadcasted by Asahi TV this morning. No translation yet for this video.

Yuzu sent a beautiful bouquet (seimei color theme :luv17:) to Mansai Nomura performance in Osaka on 2 Dec.

He is always so thankful to the ones that helped him.

Nathan said “Hanyu is a huge role model for me. I hope to be eventually what he is now.” in Philip Hersh article.

This reminds me of Shae-Lynn's interview: Yuzuru is hope, Yuzuru is legacy. I think, an even bigger achievement than winning the Olympics, is to be seen as a role model by your successors. I am certain that Yuzuru will be one of the legends. Good luck to Nathan too!

Yuzuru seemed really happy (hyped ) with Keiji and Ryuju, which made me really happy too.

Ryuju replied to Yuzuru's interview  that he thinks he has a small repertoire of techniques and wants to increase them. Keiji said the similar thing. When he was on the podium, he thought the other two (Yuzuru and Nathan) have more types of quads as he does only 4S. I hope they will improve themselves in this season as well as the next. It will surely encourage Yuzuru more. Go for it, boys :hap10:

Thanks :) I remember I only watched that performance once and never did again, so I thought I would ask. I am glad those stamina issues seem to be a thing of the past (at least tot that degree). I am working on an excel on his protocols, looking at the highest and lowest PCS he got in each category. It's actually quite interesting how he got 9s in SS and IN even on his second season as a senior (it wasn't that easy for the newbies to get them back then, IIRC).

His SS have always been pretty good (and only got better). I remember Dolfini commentary back in 2011 (GPF 2011) saying that his SS were "exceptional", even better than Takahashi at the time.

This set of photos of Yuzu went viral in Weibo in the past few days, with ~5000 reposts, 800+ comments and 1300+ likes. Quite an achievement (I don't even see this a lot from the most popular stars)

The poster said this is what "absolute proportion of body" is. A set of nine photos (credits to the original owner):
