it definitely looks like a quad to me, unless it was URed... what's next, 3-quad short programs?

Lol yes, it is a quad. So many missed it and thought he did 3S instead though. Otherwise we would have read many reports of audience freaking out over this. When I saw this clip I initially thought this was on past practices because no one mentioned this.
This is actually quite a big deal because he did a quad from almost zero speed. I saw max ambessi (Italian ESP commentator) and icenetwork freaking out over this. Even charlie white RT-ed this too.

It's his alien blood.

Ice network's Welp had me rolling :laugh2:
If the ISU actually adjusted the rules so that a 3-4 instead of a 4-3 brought additional, deserved, credits, we know he could pull it off all right.

The 2s1lo4s reminds me of his 2s3t (overrotated 3t) fall at SCAC
maybe he was trying to do a 2s4t afterall

Yes, it indicates that a 4-4 combo and 4A is doable somehow. People doing 4Lz and 4F is nothing special now, so many are doing and landing it, whether in competition or practice. But so far none can land clean 4-4 combo. And unlike single quad, you can't have long preparation with speed into it. You really rely on that muscle power and springiness to get sufficient airtime and height from zero speed and you need super fast rotational speed to complete your second quad's revolutions. I doubt people who can't do quad from steps or have bad flow and running edge out of their jump are able to do 4-4 combo. So this is really something.

From the inventor of "I was bored, so I tried to squeeze a quad between that spread eagle", this season's flash of wit: "Is that like an official rule that the quad needs to come first in a combo?"
:palmf:

I am watching junior ladies now, and the ice in the sides and edges of the rinks does look melted hmm...

Yeah, the ice looks very wet but i definitely saw a legit PUDDLE. Let's hope Yuzu's alien blood helps him adjust to the wetness...

Rika and Kaori clearly lessen their speed and skate slower than usual today because of this I think. :/

I refuse to think about the ice condition, I've got enough trauma from TdF still. It'll wait till we get to it.

Definitely. He rotates so quickly and has such spring that it is doing my head in. It'd still be supremely difficult, especially in a program and it'd have to go into the first half, and he'd have to have the stamina for all of it but frankly, if stamina is the thing he has to work on and not whether he can or cannot pull off that combo, he is miles and miles ahead of the field. Like, marathon miles.

I wonder who has the authority to postpone or stop the competition if the ice's getting worse? :rolleye: I mean, clearly there has to be a limit for skaters' ability to skate on ice water. (It's can be dangerous and we have Pairs with throws and lifts :slink: )

Nah, never going to happen. Did you watch TdF? We had this massive puddle on the left side of the rink, that just kept spreading. Zhenya went down there. Javier went down at that spot too. You could see skates literally wobbling left-right on landings if you managed to hold on, water droplets flying and nothing. It's going to go on.
