that quad loop landing had me shook. Also this program is REALLY starting to grow on me

Ultimately, it is always Hanyu vs Hanyu. Fingers crossed and knock on wood. He has a day rest which I think will be very good. He's in excellent spirits, I've never seen him perform like he has today and the flaws will only push him further, to do even better. :agree2:
Will be a good experience for him with two major rivals skate after him. I'd prefer he learns from the final rather than worlds or olympics

Honestly, I don't think going 4th would be a particular problem for him? I know he dislikes going early, like 2nd, but I don't think 4th should be an issue. I was more eh due to the candies that'll come after. But if he skates as he can, knock knock, it should still amount to the same outcome.

He will not be completely happy with it, because he really won’t be if it isn’t sublime. that quad loop still had a difficult landing, and we’ll have a look at what he did there. If anybody else drops the tension in the upper body like that, then you really aren’t gonna make it, but he can, with that incredible skating technique of his. That really does help in those jumps, if you can skate that well.

Yes, and he was really into it, you can give him high points for components, for presentation, but I wouldn’t give him a 10, because there was that little mistake. He did get tens in Japan for the SP; yes, three if I recall correctly, very nice if you’re sitting there as judge and finally can give a 10. But anyway, here’s the quad loop, four rotations, wow look how he holds his head down here, I think he barely believed he was standing, and on to the quad salchow with the triple toe. It doesn’t even really look like a quad, almost like a triple because it just goes *so easy*. Order visualises the take-off, [skates] along. What I admire so much about Hanyu is that the loop, too, he jumps nicely from steps. He increases the difficulty of his programs but really does fewer steps or less choreography. We did see that with, for example, Nathan Chen, who then skates a quad flip, separately, from steps, but there weren’t actually any steps before it, so it should get -2 from the judges, regardless of the fact that it was a beautiful jump.
Yes, you already said it, a world record it probably won’t be, that’s 110. I think his best score so far this season is 103.89. Well, that will be beaten at NHK, there he had a step out, overturned the jump [uhm?], this was better. It’ll be the second best score ever.
The winner of the SP, but how much will his advantage be? It’s a good thing Patrick Chan skated so well, oooh 106.53, second best score ever, and you see this is the reaction of the Olympic champion, reservedly enthusiastic because it still wasn’t perfect, he wants better, but gets another chance on Saturday in the FS, which this year he already skated rather well in Sapporo. Small 7 points ahead of Patrick Chan, and Fernandez, still managed to get third.
As always, there two are very restrained commentators compared to some. ;-0

I think he's finally getting a real handle on this program. It requires him to be very loose, very overt with movements, gestures, and he's really doing that. Last year it was an introverted kind of program... this year, he has to be an extrovert and he's doing that better each time. Obviously we want a clean landing on the 4L, and a little less swingy on the 3A landing (although personally I love it when it's slightly out of control like that.. 
), but it's really becoming a (planned) crazy program, which is what it is supposed to be with this music. You cannot want precision in this program, the music calls for wilder movements. Love seeing his face so expressive. It's like he doesn't have to pretend to be serene when he is skating to this music... ie. squeaky landing on the 4L? yup, my face tells the story too!!

I mean, Chan was clean (ish) but has lower PCS than Yuzuru, but again he also only has 1 quad. So I find the scoring to be fair. I actually would expect Chan to break 100 but he did not even defeat Yuzuru's GPF 2013 SP score. So judges do hold it back.
Javi gets PCS boost ofc but what's new, Shoma too. I am glad with the way Yuzu skated today. It leaves room for improvement but well enough to lead and motivate himself to still do better at the next competition.

CONGRATS YUZURU this performance almost was perfect and I enjoyed a lot.
I agree, he needs to get used to this (his main rivals skating after him). I am still one of those who believe the judges won't hold the score against him if he skates well. He actually had pretty high GOE today, considering the landing of his 3A for example (it was not bad at all but he almost got +3 lol). That 4S3T would have been +3 had his 4Lo is clean hahaha.

I know I am late to the party, but I'm still amazed how much Yuzuru's English has improved. He doesn't have to rely on translator and understands quite a lot! And his sentences are understandable. I hope he'll continue to improve on ice as well.
That 4Lo save was nothing short of miraculous. He is so incredibly talented I'm glad he sold the program so well and that 4S+3T! Fingers crossed for it to show up in the FS! He is taking a great path this season, he keeps growing but without being perfect to stay motivated and with desire to improve everytime.
Good luck in the FS, Yuzu! Too bad he'll be alone in the K&C again since Javier goes after him, but at least he is not 2nd
