She had a UR triple loop. She and Maria were the only skaters with URs, at #5 and #6.

Oh no, just seen the scores! What happened to Lena?!
Now we have reasons to be worried for Nationals.

It's okeyI know this is a fan thread so I hate to sound critical,
I dont remember the issue about Averbuch, but hoping they will work together again somedayI can't believe I'm saying this, but maybe it wouldn't be the worst idea to work with Averbuch again?.
Hope she makes it at Nationals, I have tickets for Europeans and she is the most important one I want to see there![]()
Why exactly? Because she lost FGP? This is about figure skating, not formula 1.
Next week it could be completly different.
I don't agree with this. It's not like Lena has been dusting up the ice this season. Her two GP outings were decent and she generally competes well at home. Each competition is a separate event and not based on a prior outing. I can see Lena coming out fierce at Nat after this.

I agree that she did very well at GP, and, of course, she may well skate at Nationals the way she did in China, but... when it comes to Russian nationals, it's simply not true that each event is separate. The previous seasons I wouldn't have worried, but this year Buyanova - the new coach of Maria Sotskova - who is the head fs coach at TSKA and is obviously very influential, has lost Kovtun to Goncharenko, and won't have anyone to go to the championships with, unless Sotskova medals at Nationals. Even before GPF I saw Russian articles extolling Sotskova to the skies, one actually going as far as saying that Sotskova now finds herself in the same position as Sotnikova before the OG. And now that Elena has lost her 10 points in the GPF I'm really worried about her. I've already seen Vaitzhekhovskaya's article, insulting her in V's usual rude way and saying Sotskova has shown she's ready to claim the bronze at Nationals, and V is a generally a good indicator of where Rus Fed is headed. I'm afraid if all the four girls have decent skates at Nationals, Rus Fed will place Maria on the pedestal at Elena's expense. This will doubtlessly please Buyanova even more because I've read it on Russian forums many times how Buyanova had tried to make Elena switch from Goncharenko to her for years (before she took on Sotskova), but Elena wouldn't do it no matter what, and, of course, in the summer Kovtun left Buyanova for Goncharenko too. But mostly it's the issue of getting to go to championships. I don't see Buyanova settling for sitting them out at home, and as head fs coach at TSKA she sure has a lot of influence with the Fed. I was worried even before the final, but didn't want to post anything in hopes Elena will distance herself from Maria in the opposite way, but now I really don't expect anything like fair judging at the Russian Nationals, unless Maria bombs, of course (not that I wish her that, of course, but I think Elena is in a totally different class). I bet Rus Fed had been itching to put Sotskova on the team, and now they've got just the ammunition they need.![]()
But, TAT supports Elena. Doesn't that count for something? If they judge Elena unfairly, I am going to stop watching ladies FS. The only reason I watch is to root for Elena anyway...But, TAT supports Elena. Doesn't that count for something? If they judge Elena unfairly, I am going to stop watching ladies FS.
