It's the thought that counts and TAT knows this as she's obviously thrilled with it all and quite touched so it's fine. In some way, maybe it matters even more if he tried on his own.
Yeah, except there would be no mistake then, now would it? This is why I said Weir, as a non-native speaker is more likely to make one and Yuzuru knows Johnny. I haven't quite lost all my marbles yet :)
But doesn't it make more sense to ask a native Russian? Also at CC Yuzuru knows Lubov doesn't he? She is training there with Dylan and she's Russian. I just find it weird that he didn't ask any Russian to help.

His letter is incredibly cute, as a native Russian I'm dead, LOL. It's not really correct as he missed ehm... right declension? He should have written "маму" not "маме" so the person who helped him wasn't Russian. He addressed her as "mom" and it's the cutest. Literally "mom"

Do you mind typing the letter in Russian? We will copy paste it into google translate and see how it will look like in Japanese and in English.

Татьяна Анатольевна
Благодарю маме (doesn't make sense, but whatever!)
Приезжай к нам в Японию!
Юдзуру Ханю

"Спасибо маме" would have been ok, but "благодарю маме" is a wrong case.
And why MUM?

He respects her that much and her help, that he is addressing her with that title? As in, he feels like she took care of him in that way? It's the first thing that caught my eye too (mistake aside).

I tried google translate and it's still weird... lolll

Whatever, I've melted because of this sweetness! And laughing my socks off as well!
Never mind, my Japanese is far worse than his Russian. Thank you, Yuzu!

Of course it does but he probably wrote it at GPF, if the note came with the flowers, so maybe he felt too awkward to ask someone? I am honestly not sure but he got his message across and that's enough. Maybe even cuter because he tried and wasn't perfect but he bothered anyway, especially with writing it out by hand!

I'm like Fayruza, I've melted into a pile of goo and the goo is shaking from giggles too. He's sweetness personified.

What a sweet note, even if it doesn't make sense .

My guess is he asked a JSF official that was also at GPF to help him with the Russian and then he copied it by hand (hence the cross out), or he tried translating something from Japanese to Russian online and copied it without checking if it made sense. That or he really meant to call her Mom :).

I was already like that because i found the video where he says "kiitos", now i come here and see his attempt in russian (i've heard him say spasibo to Plushy before, but this is way cuter)...
I've watched the video where he says "Hasta mañana!" too many times, also the one where he introduces Javi with "Medalla de plata, de España, Javier Fernández!" :hopelessness: That makes me insanely happy because he would be able to pronounce my name perfectly, in fact i could even cut up the audio and boom, he said my name

How is he so sweet, doesn't he get tired of being like that

Idk why but i think that the "Mom" part was intentional. The cross out only makes it better :D

Oh I think he meant to call her Mom. I don't think you can wrongly translate that. It is just the too familiar mode of address in the Japan sentence and the wrong case in that one but I think the title itself is not a mistake, I am not sure how it could be.

Honestly, he paid her the biggest compliment with that, that it's completely irrelevant whether he got the case right or not. I am not surprised at all she's gushing about it.

Yuzuru has totally conquered Russia, I admit it, totally. It may be his second Motherland by now, lol, cause Russians just can't help adoring him as a son. TAT, Russian girls, many coaches, choreographers, skaters etc. It's just so common here.

Yeah. Google translate can not mistranslate the word "mom". I tried and it's exactly that same word.

How can one not love him after this!

So true! But really who can resist such sincere feelings, when you see his true character shining through and it's just so lovely. :luv17:

I wonder if he meant to call her Grandma or Auntie, like someone in Japanese would call an older woman in an affectionate way, but maybe he thought Grandma would be too old (some people would be insulted being called a grandma). Who knows, I'm curious what his Japanese message would've been. I'm assuming this was a follow up to the letter he had the JSF official hand her earlier in the season, since this time both of them were at GPF and he could give it to her in person.

By the way, do you think Tat was the one that took that photo of him with the flowers? Maybe when he gave her the letter and flowers?
