Yeah, don't know either - on both counts. On the one hand, the reason I believe they went back to the old SP (a decision I don't agree with, just for the record), was that it had been set up with the 3A in mind, and the Mozart tango had not - so on the one hand it would be odd not to do the 3A after changing programs to accomodate it, but on the other hand, is she even stable with this SP, the music of which she found emotionally draining in the first place??

Sigh. I just don't know...

maybe next time they should just choreograph a universal programm which can be skated with & without 3A & with moderate non exhausting rythm & judging by her physical state skate it at diff comps differently:think:

It's a tricky decision to make.

Play It Safe (and maybe fail anyway) - or Go for Broke (and maybe go down in flames).

What to do?

I suppose it depends on Liza's form and how confident she feels.

I think she almost has to go for it. Four women made the GPF and she needs to beat two of them.

Completely true. She needs to ride the same wave she rode two seasons ago, and that season revolved around her technical strength. The ONLY thing that sets her apart from Med, is her Triple Axel as they both have Triple Triples in the second half of their LP's. IMO, Med has better choreography and she also has those Tano's. Liza needs her triple Axel to keep her in the hunt for Gold.

Even WITH triple axels, Liza is not getting into the top 3 unless Radionova, Sotskova, and Zagitova screw up badly. Her PCS won't even be in the same neightborhood as the other 3 (justified or not).

You are correct. Many people just hate audacious success.

Even if you expressed it in rather a dramatic way, I think you do have a point: people don't like great success, they like struggle and uncertainty and failures, they like looking up to their idols as average human beings. A skater "too good to lose" must come across as too perfect to be the object of sympathy and heartfelt appreciation

But she is not the same level skater she was 2 years ago. Faith has nothing to do with it, one must accept the reality. For example, I liked Sakhanovich skating two years ago, when she was the same level as Medvedeva. Should we now forgive her her current skating and pretend that she skates as well as she used to? I also liked Leonova's skating the year she medalled at worlds. Should we pretend that the last few years did not happen and that she still skates the same level? My point is, the majority of senior ladies were great at some point in the last few years, but the judges mark the current skating.

Qualifying through top 24 World Standings (guaranteed at least 1 spot): Tuktamysheva, Radionova, Lipnitskaia, Sakhanovich (maybe)
Qualifying through top 24 season's best (guaranteed at least 1 spot): Zagitova, Tsurskaya, Konstantinova, Leonova

Also, sadly, Fedichkina, Mikhailova and Lozko may still miss out on GP next year despite being senior age-eligible and posting credible JGP results previously...

Lipnitskaia will actually drop below Serafima once the rankings are updated at the end of the year and she may drop out of the top 24 altogether unless she does a Senior B next Spring. Lip will have 1051 to Sima's 1096.

ETA: Leonova is going to move ahead of Lip too by 5 points. Don't know if Lip will have a guaranteed spot next year but we will see.

Gracie Gold has the goods, and the judge's support, to beat them all. She just lacks the mentality.

I think it would be quite the shocker if Leonova made the podium. Even Tuk was highly doubtful, TBH.

Leonova is really lucky to still be able to qualify for GP spots next year despite a mainly lacklustre season. The Golden Spin of Zagreb was the one thing that saved her...
