Anna Pogorilaya

Why Anna keeps getting robbed over and over again, internationally and domestically. I am so mad.

Technically it's the same question all over again. I don't even know how to reply that. Maybe she should switch to Ukraine. Only by that she can be at Olympic?

I too am upset about the continual low scoring for Anna.... how does she keep her sanity? Now Anna is NOT assured of the third spot on the National Team...the third spot is decided by the federation. With the season she has had, it would be the final injustice to her if they do not put Anna on the National Team and send her to the Europeans and Worlds. If they don't put her on the team, she should seriously consider changing flags.

very upset about her score at nats. other ladies get 10-20pts randomly added to their season's best, she gets a lower score than at gpf - even though she went clean and had an intense, wonderful performance. what the hell is wrong with these people? tsareva knows, of course, how bad it is... when she heard '215' her face was all 'this is bad'. i feel for anna and for her coaches - they don't have the pull that other coaches do and get thrown under the bus when others have fun with their ridiculous politicking. anna has had a very stable year and has improved so much from 2015... and even after a very stable year that started with her great 2015-16 nats performances, she still gets called unreliable. so unfair. *flips a table*

At this point, Anna's being called 'unreliable' is not acceptable. The girl has been giving almost perfect performances consistently since the season began. She is a real fighter who keeps winning medals and hearts of many skating fans.

I was in a worry for a while after seeing her fall in the warm-up that she won't be successful today. And although she was held down or let's say not hyped up as the others above her, I am really happy with the way she performed and fought for the best she can do considering the pain she suffers. She deserves a big congrats for that!

Go Anna! Show again who is the real winner at Euros. This fantasic season and your best programs deserve something better than the bronzes!

Last year she could fall three times in an LP; this year she hasn't fallen even once in all her skates, she skated here with an injured knee and did only a couple of minor mistakes in her LP (did she really have a wrong edge on the flip btw?), and she says she'd have given herself a D for this skate??? Who needs corrupt fed, judges and journalists, with this kind of self-assessment?

In other respects I agree with you. If Evgenia continues going strong (which I wish her), and Alina Zagitova transfers to seniors and does equally well at GP next year, Anna won't have a chance, because Buyanova will certainly claim the 3rd spot. Skating for Ukraine will allow Anna to go to Championships and OG in 2022, but it won't stop her from being robbed internationally - in fact, it might get worse with Russia being against her too. I wish she could skate for a stronger federation than Ukraine. Of course, that's provided she can leave Rus Fed, given that Rus Fed will definitely not want to release her.

Unacceptable is Vaitsekhovskaya's middle name.

She is too good so that Russian fed would rather burying her in their mud than giving her away. I am so mad at this situation seriously. She deserves that 2nd/3rd spot so much. After all what she has been through, all what she has been robbed. She deserves it.

calm down guys, I know she deserved a podium spot but at least she can still go to Euros and Worlds, if she stays healthy they will send her over alternate Radionova as Anna has better GP record this season. Lets see at Euros she can definitely score outscore Sotskova and Carolina there.

Yeah, she has around 1 month to rest before European doesn't she? I hope the injury isn't bad. Crying...

I don't think its that bad, she was able to skate here, she must have gotten doctor's approval to skate.
I think the injury might be only external or like maybe a cut or hemorrage, that will fully heal in a weeks rest.

I need official statement from her team though.
But of course, they might hide her true condition to secure her slot.

She's not with Mishin. She's the main coach at CSKA and it is said that she has a great influence in the Russian figure skating world.
Her "tricks" worked with Adelina and it seems also with Maria now.

Haha, I meant Caro....

I see...

Just had time to watch the FS ... I don't think that Sotskova is a threat for Anna internationally.
But I think it was very important that Anna skated and that she skated well enough to beat Radionova.
So I think, despite that unfortunate 4th place this isn't a bad outcome for Anna.

She needs to be healthy and hungry at European, get the silver or even the gold, so that they will consider her as stable Russian No.2.

I love Anna but she's right. She was hardly her best because of the injury and she was rightly dinged for all the minor mistakes. And even with that, she had the second highest PCS in the competition

It's hilarious people fantasize about country switches when their favorites don't do well. But do you people even consider that money doesn't grow from trees and Tsareva has two children she'd like to feed? Once they leave the Russian team, that's it. No more Russian federation financing. Hello minor country financing. Considering Maxim Nikitin had to give private lessons to buy new skates and is only in the US thanks to a sponsor, Anna will have to find a job or a sponsor that will pay for Tsareva, Adoniev, Morozov, skates, costumes and whatnot.

I think she is still considered to be Russian no. 2. I think that the Russian Fed knows very well how good she is that she did well despite her injury. It's obvious that some people in Russia (including that tech panel around Lakernik) seem to favour Sotskova and want to push her but that doesn't trouble me too much. Anna would have had a problem if both Sotskova and Radionova finished above her. Didn't happen so I think we can all relax a little and hope that Anna's injury isn't too bad and that she'll be fully healed soon.
