Boyang Jin

Did Boyang really say that? Well, good on him!!

Yes he did, in response to question if all the attention would bring him pressure.

And he proved it :agree: with his performances this weekend. He was technically brilliant and displayed his fun personality in full. He found his carefreeness again on home ice with all the love, support, and, yes, intense attention.

Too bad his nervousness at the earlier GP prevented him from going to the GPF. But he has so many other and major competitions to go to in his career to bring home more hardware, more accolades and more love.

Other skaters get home inflation plus sometimes inflation on foreign soil.

Boyang not only doesn't get home inflation, he doesn't even get scored fairly, instead he gets lowballed. :curse:

Should have won.

I agree with you, eta. The SP here at least should have been 98+. The British Euro guys felt it should have hit 100s. Those guys are very neutral and say it for what it is. If Boyang had been awarded even 98 for the SP, he would have beaten Patrick by 1 point. I don't like to argue this in the general Men's SP thread because there are some forum people of a 'certain' country whom I will not name that absolutely cannot take negative comments about skaters from their own country. It is alright for them put down skaters from 'other' countries but not from their own country and I am just sick of even trying to argue.

Yes, I am very disheartened. Boyang's SP was the only clean one technically and his jumps are so textbook, should have +3 GOEs in all of them. I notice the judges are quite hard on the Chinese skaters in this competition.

I agree that SP should've scored higher, I thought since he's at home ice he would get a little above hundred considering his skating skills improved so much.
but nothing can beat inflation now, even Yuzu lost to him at SC

anyways why does Boyang always show up in horrible costumes!! every time he competes there's something changed in his costume and is always worse than the previous one. Not only his music is clowny but he's always dressed like he's gonna perform for a circus. But I appreciate that he at least has costumes unlike the person I mentioned above and the waiter boys.

I'm not sure which country you're implying but I feel exactly same about fans from the US and A. I think it has to do with that this is an english forum.

It's the other country in North America. Every time their skater gets criticized some of them go "(insert country)-hater!!!1!!1!!!!"

People can be upset with the results, it is figure skating and we argue back and forth all the time, however, you have to be happy with how he skated. His sp was wonderful, as was his long program. He has improved so much with his skating skills, audience engagement, performance to music, personality on the ice... every aspect of the skating itself has improved...you have to look at this and think he is going in the right direction. After the SA disaster, what an improvement. He is getting better... and I LOVE his long program outfit!

As for the pcs, last year many people thought they were going up way too high over the course of the season for what he put on the ice and it was just a reflection of his tech scores... one way to look at it is that this year those same pcs scores are genuinely deserved, no gimmes, and I think they will go up at his next competition. It is a good program.

Bumping up Boyang's thread, I english subbed his short documentary that aired recently on CCTV5 in China so for any fans here who don't understand Mandarin I think it'll be an enjoyable watch.

Thank you Krunchii for that. Really enjoyed the documentary!!

Four Continents - I am rooting for Gold!

Worlds 2017 - I am happy if he retains Bronze but Silver or Gold would be fantastic!!
