Yes, my friend at GPF told me he was resting and I really hope he's taking this seriously and not rushing things again, because he went back on the ice too soon... but I trust he's motivated and will want to fight for the JP team in 2018.
Beside, we need to see Shoma and Sota together again! It's one of the laws of the universe!!! (Ok I'm exaggerating but you guys know what I mean  )

EDIT: oh and the cute girl you guys mention with Dai is Miyu Honda, a famous child-actress, skater herself and little sister of Marin. ;)

We still need more Shoma-Sota adventures! https://shoma-uno.tumblr.com/image/145707862607 This was a very special "bromance". Wonder if they still consider themselves to be good friends.

I thought I recognized that little girl, especially since she seemed so poised for her age.

Shoma is going to Chicago and Canada soon.

VERY interesting! Dying to know where in Canada, and more importantly WHY is he going. Very exciting news. As far as the U.S., not sure if it's that he arrives in the US on the 28th, or is the 28th his first day at the rink.

And how did he play his video games if he didn't have his phone?!

I'm very sure they do. They might not have seen each other in competitions this season, but surely they still talk via different means, like LINE (plus, they both train in Japan, which is practical considering there's no time difference. ;)), or see each other in some way.

Hmm - Shoma going to Canada. Wonder what he will be doing there? Something with choreography? Checking out possibilities for a new training environment?

You have a sensitive spirit nothing wrong with that. :ghug:

I don't know how long you have been a skating fan but when you have been a fan as long as I have (I have had a lot of favorites over the years) believe me
I have heard just about every kind of criticisms there is. Back in the day I would get into flame wars with the best of them. I have learned from those experiences
that it is not worth my time and energy. Skating is a sport that I enjoy and I realize that criticism is part of that sport but I let it roll off because it really has
nothing to do with me personally. I like who I like and that is the bottom line for me.

Agreed. I don't read all posts on various threads, and don't even try to do so tbh, since there are quite discussions that I don't like. Besides, my weak English limits me to read every single posts, thankfully! Like you said, everyone is entitled to post her/his opinions. At the same time, no one's obliged to answer back every time when quoted by someone else while screaming agree or disagree. ;) When I don't like its direction of discussions, I'd prefer stay away from it thus I simply click 'thumbs-up' bottun, only to let her/him know that I did read the quote addressed to me, then leave.

Every four years as we're going into the Oly season, GS Forum gets nastier and nastier, very understandable we'd say, b/c there are only three Olympic medals after all. Three medals every four years! Any fan wants his/her own favorite(s) to get it. When the party's over, some get banned, some leave the forum and never come back. In 2010 I remember the Forum shut down when Evan won OGM over Plushenko in Vancouver. Then a lot of GS members in Europe/Russia left the forum. In Sochi we had such nightmarish moments with Ladies results and Dance results... :slink:

That said, you sounded a tiny bit annoyed in a J-Nats competition thread, I thought. ;) Me, too. So I dropped a sentense there, which is unusual for me to do in a teasing/cynical manner, to show my support for you and other fans like MaiKatze.
Did Nathan compete here this past weekend??? I must have missed it then. Such a shame.... :p
Glad you seemed to aware of it by clicking 'Thumbs Up' for me. ;) Thanks!

^ deedee's whole Post! :agree:

I was a little annoyed in that thread (you know me well).;) Threads go off topic all the time but
lets try to keep the criticism confined to the actual skaters who were at the competition.
I don't see the need to bring into the thread another skater who was not at the competition
and start a conversation on why skater X is so much better than skater Y. :scratch3:

^^ Pretty sure that was the same person who recently introduced criticism of Gracie Gold into a Japanese men's thread. Ok, I suppose it's possible Gracie may have some Japanese blood, but I doubt that she's a man....This will be the first time I am on the forum for an Olympics. Sounds like there will be a lot of threads I won't be reading!

:dance2: :yes2: Shoma-kun sighting! Look who I found today! https://pic.twitter.com/enU5WZh1VY Here he is working with Alex. I watched him on the ice for about an hour and 10 minutes. He and Alex worked on jumps for about 40 minutes. It was very interesting because he would jump and then they were looking at the tracings in the ice. I was getting exhausted just watching all the jumps. I didn't get there 'til the afternoon, but apparently he had been there since about 8 am. He is so fun to watch! He looks very happy and relaxed on the ice but also very intense. He also worked on his own for awhile and did some spins and some bits and pieces of his programs. Alex had him stroking around the rink so fast, but he kept saying "Come on, faster, faster Shoma!" Geez!

And an added bonus, guess who else was there?! I still can't believe it! https://pic.twitter.com/RVDot4l1jP

Thanks for the news. Well, I guess you don't get better by having your hand held, lol. If you make them work hard in practice, it looks easier in competition, right? Or so you would hope.

@Arriba glad you got to see Shoma. OMG Gracie! Was she working with Alex too?

Thanks for sharing!! I'd love to see Shoma practicing! And Gracie!! I was just talking with a friend yesterday about her situation. IMO she needed some kind of change like it was an emergency months ago... Not sure what the arrangement is but I wish her well regardless.

Shoma and Gracie weren't on the ice at the same time, but I kept thinking - wow! 2 National champions in the building at the same time...As I wrote in Gracie's thread, my guess (and it's only a guess) is that she was in town visiting family in the Chicago area for the holidays. She probably just bought some ice time and from what I could see, she was not working with Alex. This is where Gracie used to skate when she was coached by Alex, so it makes sense that she came to a place where she's comfortable.

Thanks for the clarification. I still think she needs to make some changes but maybe something miraculous will happen at nats >_>. Happy that Shoma is working hard though! Did Shoma and Gracie interact at all?

Thanks for sharing Arriba! It's awesome that you got to see Shoma practicing ! And you have some beautiful pictures on your Twitter ;)

Great report Arriba. That sounds so stressful for Shoma, though. Not the training itself but the flight, time zone changes just days after Nationals. But then he is young, a world class athlete....it must not bother him that much.
