Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

No news, just some of my observations of scoring Yuzuru's programs from season 2010/2011:

I've just rewatched all of his performances from his senior debut season, and I've realised, that imo he was quite underscored at Rostelecom Cup, at least in the SP. His first GP event was NHK where he got 69.31 for his SP, he got negative GOE for a couple of elements there and also an edge call on his 3F (but on the side note he got an e on his 3F at every competition in that season). Then his short program at CoR improved massively since NHK and he only got 70.24 points for that, barely more than at NHK. His jumps were much better, his speed was incredible there and I think his presentation/interpretation was also better.
At the 4CC, he got 76.43 points for a program which was not really better than at CoR, the landing on his 3F was for example shaky, but here was the first when he got lot more 7s than before, even a 8.00 for interpretation. :)

I don't have a sharp eye to see if his program at 4CC was really that better (maybe transitions/linking footwork yes, but the others? :scratch2:), but it is possible that at CoR the panel of judges were stricter than at other competitions or just the fact that 4CC was in the second half of the season...so judges tend to give higher scores.

Yes, different panels give different scores. They're different people with different standards after all. The also competitions in the second half of the season often get better scores.
This is why ISU's system is really flawed. They're judging like 6.0 in reality but they rely on numbers of CoP. The majority of judges should know that 9 at US isn't equal to 9 at Russia.
The issue is they still use these scores in the rankings. And those numbers can give skaters boost of reputation among the judges regardless of whether they do well or not. They might give the judges some reason to underscore/overscore some skaters however they like.
 
Has anyone won all of the major senior and junior singles titles (for 4CC not Euros) yet? Like Evan won everything but junior worlds.

In competition? According to this site 92.4 % overall. He usually has +/- 90% success rate on his 3A. This season in particular, I think he landed all of them (or if you want to be strict and count the 3Alo2S at GPF as SO, that is still 11 out of 12 landed :))

Yatagarasu mentioned it before recently. Yuna Kim for ladies, Tessa and Scott for ice dance and if you want to count maxim trankov alone for pairs. I think there is none yet for men. Especially considering before Evan, the last non-Russian/Soviet union guy who won oly is Boitano in 88.

3A is like a jump he can land while sleepwalking :laugh:
 
I didn't say that Nathan had better SS or TR than Hanyu. I was discussing Patrick Chan's program components versus Hanyu's and was very complimentary of both skaters as I absolutely adore Hanyu's skating!
