Yulia Lipnitskaya

Well, I'll retain from 2016 that different look in her eyes at the short at Rostelecom Cup or, as resumed by the comment of Brit. Eurosport "It felt so confident ...like she first came on the scene...". There was no behaviour of not wanting to be there or to escape: there she was, having a great pleasure skating and wanting to show it to everybody.
I'm sure she had the same confidence for the long, but, as we know, everything turned differently from the original plan. I'm feeling like the psy burden she had before (2014 second part-2015-2016) is going away, leaving her the freedom to express at her best in her programs. So, just cheering for a 2017 that can give her lots of joy in her skating in this newly rebuilt confidence. To everybody Happy New Year!

The different look in her eye, and then radiance after she finished. Shades of Yekaterinburg. It's easy to look past her many accomplishments in just one year when her failures in the public spotlight are so dramatic. Putting the genie back in the bottle is a huge challenge. They are well along the right path and committed to the long haul.

I (and about 1,000,000 others) would like to see a video of the complete Kill Bill on youtube, a virtual FS competition without competition. She could show us the fruits of her labor, and her fans would have the predictable overwhelming reaction. If she linked it on VK and instagram, there would be a million hits in a week, more than a lifetime of competitions and shows. The Adidas commercial got more than 3 million hits, just a commercial. She could include a personal commentary on what was easy and difficult, what she liked and hated, why she chose the musical excerpts and their message, how she shaped the choreography, etc., and bring Alexei into the conversation. Sometimes changing the environment can help overcome a problem that is specific to an event, it's like going in the back door without fanfare and unobserved by the doorman. If she were pleased with the result, she could add Leningrad when she has time. She might even decide to make her channel permanent, less dependence on competitions.

A meerkat, I suppose :)
Doh:palmf:

With her sharp interest and love for all animals combined with their natural ability to sense our different moods....I bet these animals absolutely love visits from her.

oh why so cute
Hello, I'm new fan of fs and Julia. I want to ask you, since Julia withdrew from nationals and can't participate on european and world, is her season over? I went to ISU web and download competition schedule. I found that there are competitions held on second half of season. is there any possibility for her to join? If she is fit enough?

Of course, she can participate in some minor competitions in this season yet. But this will depend on the state of her health.

Welcome to the Yuliafans club! :dance2:

yaaay, welcome myself!:yahoo:
I just follow her 1 or 2 week before national, i think, and so heartbroken when I heard that she withdrew. I want to see her skating again. But on the other hand, I want her to take time to heal and be completely healthy.

^Wow that is almost my exact experience regarding this topic. Some random girl was watching this Yuri show (and I've already been kinda aware of it through YouTube comments...just couldn't be bothered you know?) in the computer lab at school and I had the same reaction just staring like...okay...Yulia's braids, Yulia's ponytail, Yulia's face, Yulia's carriage...but wtheck is this hideous costuming and why is she in pants? So I find out she's supposed to be a boy (and oh my, that voice LOL). Oh...duh.

That's cool and all, and the sneaky FS references they put in there (LMAO at Yulia's apparent leopard print obsession...I never really noticed) make me chuckle, but I just can't get into this show because of the wishy-washy plot/char development, and quality of animation. Kinda wish it was more serious about the sport and less about the fanfiction-esque "love" story that seems to be happening. I tried and really wanted to like it as a FS and anime fan...but it was torture. I love that Evgenia is like the queen of this fandom though, and it makes her all the more endearing...somehow. I must admit, it is becoming a huge phenomenon and bringing in a lot of new fans. Literally every single FS video on YouTube will have comments referencing this show. Never under-estimate the passion of the otaku and hopefully some of that passion goes towards the real-life sport as well.

I am less enthusiastic about the anime fans though, :sarcasm: I mean they created a petition against Hallmark for having somewhat similar movie with the tile Love on ice. They attacked the movies and Hallmark crazily, thinking that their Yuri on ice was ripped off and totally ignore the fact that to make a movie you need a long time to prepare, long before their anime was released. :rolleye: I am not a fan of Hallmark, never watch their stuffs but seriously... they should not get such reaction.

And please, Yulia is never shouting at people like the character. She might be a diva but never rude that way. :frown:

I agree with you. I feel a bit annoyed, too, when this anime is associated with Yulia or Yulia's fandom. Come on, it's just an anime about figure skating, with fictional characters...

After the show's creator Kubo stated that Yuri Plisetsky (Yurio) was loosely-based on Yulia..male version, I thought I'd check the show out just to see how many real life FS visual queues/hints of character traits I can pick up. Btw I watched the Japanese version with English subtitles (rule of thumb: never watch the dub! Ever!:noshake:). I was not very impressed by the first episode (or two), there was way too much pandering towards the yaoi-fetish/shipping-obsessed crowd :rolleye:, and the depiction of the 'rival' (Yurio) as angry/yelling/foul-mouth, Vegeta-like Tsundere with a cat-obsession was a rather shallow interpretation of Yulia's persona/image. Btw Yulia wouldn't ever need to have to 'yell' at someone to send them a message...*death stare*...just saying. :p

That being said, by the end of the season I did find Yurio to be the most interesting character; his drive and motivations, his existing and/or developing attachments to his grandpa/rival/people around him. He is quite frankly the only character with any character development that wasn't solely geared towards developing a romantic attachment with the agenda of fan-servicing the yaoi crowd. About the character's visual associations with Yulia; her braids, her look, her movements, carriage, intensity...pet cat and fashion choices. I guess if Kubo can make Yurio an interesting engaging character out of it then by all means go for it, but honestly if he wants to borrow character/personality traits from Yulia...there is a much MUCH MORE interesting character in there than just an angry Tsundere...just saying. ;)

Back on topic: Another super pretty pic from the photoshoot  https://pp.vk.me/c637931/v637931815/2f075/zOTLy4Nf0yo.jpg

Well, Julia was only the physical model of Yurio. Nothing more. So to compare the two on the personality is pointless.

But back on Julia, is there any news on, maybe, doing a senior B competition in the next months?

No news about Julia at all. :(
