2017 U.S. Nationals Championship Ladies SP

Caroline Zhang: 3Lo+3Lo looks fully rotated! (2nd 3Lo could be underrotated) Strong 3F too, might have an edge call. Better 2A than before, and strong layback spin as usual with a true attitude positions. Still needs to work on her transitions, though; her footwork sequence is well-choreographed but not done with a lot of speed and agility.

Can't believe it's been 10 years since Caroline Zhang won silver at US Nationals in juniors, surprisingly (to some), behind Mirai Nagasu. Her 2007 US Nationals exhibition is still a favorite of mine.

Not sure what her goals are now but it's great to see her skate so well compared to previous years.

They're showing the waiting-in-the-Kiss-And-Cry replay for Caroline so I do get to see bits of it OMG I'm so happy for her <3

Yeah Caroline! That 3lo-3lo looked under when they played it back. But it's hard not to feel joy seeing her back here after her struggles, and her injury.

Didn't Caroline used to coach herself?

I'm thinking back to 2007 when she was touted as the next Michelle Kwan. Ridiculously high expectations and she fell so short. Like Gracie Gold, but worse. I admire her a lot for continuing to compete, if only for herself. I hope she gets into coaching others (if she hasn't already).

This is a serious question. Why do skaters skate with the half covered boots? While I think it's ugly and doesn't do the job, I see why skaters do the fully covered boots in the attempt of a full line. The half covered boots look so sloppy and lazy.

I forgot to mention...out of the new/lesser known faces, I'm definitely excited to see Livvy Shilling after she made it to her first EVER Nationals.
