I think Courtney will move up---in 2014, she was pretty down in the standings (like in the first group basically) but then finished sixth in the FS and 8th overall.

Ugh, but I thought final flight always 6. Although I can understand what you mean. IceNetwork showed the final flight as 6. Oh well...off to bed.

The groups are always arranged based on the total number of skaters, to make groups as even as possible. They like to have 6 if possible, but balancing is more important.

She's in the penultimate group, since the final flight is actually 5.
True. I'm not too worry about Courtney. Sadly bombing one of her Nationals program seems par for the course.

Hicks looked like a total mess even in 6 minutes warmup. I think this is absolutely not her competition.

BTW, season's bests and world standings will be included amongs 2017-18 USFS team envelope criteria. New, I think.

I don't think they will score it UR. That's why it's weird Mirai is above her.
EDIT: they didn't score Mirai's as UR either.

They didn't score Ashley's 2A or Mirai's 3Lo as <. Mirai's was definitely 2-footed.
What kind of shenanigans did she do at Rostelecom?

The scores were a bit inflated, but hey, it's Nationals! I'm glad Gracie didn't have a meltdown (definitely a step in the right direction), and I enjoyed the top three (Karen 
, Mirai 
, and Ashley ). The top three scores are pretty close to each other, so it'll be interesting to see how the rest of the competition pans out. Hope the free skates are relatively splat free!

I know what you mean. Sorry getting punchy because I'm so tired, and I have to be up early. I keep SAYING I'm going to bed, but I'm wound up from watching. Was a great competition so far.
