2017 U.S. Nationals Championship Ladies SP

Ashley lost first place because she lost levels on her spins. Let that be a lesson for Worlds Ashley.

I'd prefer to see the talented skaters not named Gracie or Ashley get some attention and for everyone to be scored fairly without bias, and nobody held up on reputation. On that note, I couldn't be happier to see 2 different names occupying the first and second place right now.

The funny thing is Gracie's reputation is purely on paper and based on potential not reality. She hasn't done enough to justify the over marking she gets nationally or internationally :confused2:

A botched solo jump and the other two jump passes were scratchy while she "performed" like a dead body on strings yet she still got a 64. She's only around 8 points out of first, just like last year, so its not over by any stretch of the imagination.

my prediction: Karen Chen gonna throw it down in the free! She's gonna say catch me if you can!
You can tell how much that girl wants it. I think the other five girls are going to have to take it from her.

eta: I think she will win Gold. She looks like she wants it the most.

Charlie White nitpicks at Ashley big time..stating that she needs more flow, better skating and that she needs to up her game to compete with the best in the world. Interesting to hear that.

Karen's interview makes me really uncomfortable. It's like she's being held against her will. Loosen up, girl!

came in late to say PERFECT TOP 3 IS PERFECT HATUHS TO THE LEFT TY AND GODBLESS AMERICA (just for tonight tho ha)

Yes, it was refreshing to hear that; I don't think this SP is quite holding up with the top women internationally this year.

Funny how a lot of people said Mirai is deadpan while skating but Gracie is 10x worse. She's like Jeremy Abbott sedated. Finally they pulled down her PCS. Should have been 28 max but small step in the right direction. I think the judges are almost over her. A few more performances like this and they will tell her to retire with the marks.

i think Karen is going to falter in the free compared to Mirai and Ashley. Ashley is going to lose points on her levels. Mirai is going to win nationals for the second time.

Mirai - Gold
Ashley - Silver
Karen/Gracie - Bronze

LMAO.
Mirai after looking at the leaderboard... "OH DANGGGG.....hmmmm we'll see".... sounds shady and evil :laugh2:

I don't think Gracie was held up here, to be honest. 64 is on par (actually slightly lower) compared to similar skates at 2015 Skate America and 2015 GPF.

He's right. I don't understand why she gets so little criticism here for the slow 2-footed skating and poor ice coverage. How did she get the highest SS score?
