Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

I kind of doubt JSF would ban Yuzu from skating in shows in Japan or give him any other sanctions if he skips WTT, no matter why. The $$$'s say so ;)

And given WTT is after 4CC & WC, I doubt Yuzu has decided on that himself yet. Way more important things ahead that require his focus for now.

Oh but that rule is not up to JSF, it is set by the ISU itself. But well the big shows in Japan don't start in April (except perhaps SOI Japan? and he doesn't go to that one).

*gasps
It is just like me dreaming of Yuzuru landing an emergency 4Lz (I know, crazy, that's why it is a dream) because he missed the 4S combo and are trying to rack up the points lol. Don't blame me blame Yuzu :laugh2:
Anyway, a-3Lo combo for Yuzuru is not so bad, I guess? Heard javi practicing 3Lz3T3Lo combo (for whatever reason) and this combo really have almost no benefit point wise. But judging from Orser's last interview, it seems we really will not see any major changes in layout unless something dramatic happens.

It could also be that the magazine interviewed Javi quite a while back, and the 3Lz3T3Lo wasn't meant to be in response to US Nationals (because that makes no sense BV wise). It might have meant to be "Javi is trying this cool new thing". I think Brian is a good indication for what Javi would do, less so Yuzuru.

On Twitter, they did a survey for Yuzuru's potential layout next season (1010 votes :o) and it's all split too XD:
19% same as this season
32% 4Lo, 4S, 4Lo-3T, 4T (3 types, 4 quads)
26% 4Lz, 4Lo, 4S-3T, 4T (4 types, 4 quads)
22% 4Lz, 4Lo, 4S-3T, 4S, 4T (4 types, 5 quads)

And then someone suggested this one which did not give me a good nights' sleep --> 4Lz, 4Lo, 3F / 4S3T 4T 3A1Lo4S 3A2T 3Lz

^ I really doubt it will be 5 quads. That would be way too much unnecessary risk, he really doesn't need it.

You're right, but I think the same argument goes for them... and yes, the big shows start way later, which is why it shouldn't be a problem.

I think if he's in good shape and not exhausted, he'll skate the WTT.

Yes, I am in this camp of four.

Four different quads for a four quad layout, which then leaves room for an emergency shuffle if needed.

... The number of russian ladies/girls who like Yuzuru ...Mamma mia , another Medvedeva on the list :laugh:

LOL omg. How can you skate to this?! Like, just seems so weird doesn't it?? And to not even cut your own music? :scratch2: (She is super cute though!)

Actually at the rink I skate at, someone was skating to Hope & Legacy...I just can't imagine skating to Yuzu's music  you'd have some impossible shoes to fill...

I know what you mean ,when it come to Seimei , I think I will never make it a program for me , it's something like "this music is exclusively for yuzuru" I can't touch it ( don't know how to express it sorry ^^) , but I love to copy his programs for the fun of it ( and of course without the quality and quads xd )

Wondering what inspired her to try the hydroblade at 3:14 ;) It's not as easy as it looks!
Well some people can do it easy, some people not. They're just not trained for it maybe. Hydroblade is not that difficult but it is amazing if done right, I still remember how amazing Shae's hydroblade was in her day. I guess Yuzuru loves trying out all the tricks on ice.

This little baby is from Sambo70 too!

Aww, I actually love to see this. It's like Yuzuru brought this music closer to people who might never have heard it otherwise and I don't think it's a problem in these novice categories, or slightly older. You go babies.

It's nice how Yuzuru is diversifying the music of skating (or at least I think he is? I'm quite new to figure skating ;) ) but I've never heard/seen anything quite like it before

On another note, I've just read the (translated) podcasts (about Yuzuru) of the esp Italian guys - really recommend it - and I was wondering, is there any videos/translations of them from 16/17? Would really like to hear their opinions on this year's programs

Yuzu's hydroblade apparently started around the time of baby Vertigo ^^ https://youtu.be/dFeOhU99bec?t=1m28s

And now we have the shiny-pants 2015 version https://youtu.be/1WN4UNO-6Ow?t=2m4s

This was a while ago, but Nam playing with Seimei hydroblade at TCC https://www.instagram.com/p/-zeHSPIKeE/?taken-by=namnamnoodle&hl=en and Javi helpfully pointing out (in the comments) that the direction is in reverse XD XD I love Cha, make no mistake about that, but I do miss the old Cricket Brothers formation.

Especially since distinctly Japanese music was considered hard to incorporate and people shied away from doing it until Yuzuru and Shae did such a bang up job with Seimei.

Well I had a dream about Yuzuru a couple of nights ago
the first part was 4CC, the focus was on his LP and the infamous combo (wonder why? :D), so I was cheering for him and he nailed his 4S3T beautifully, then
the second part was completely different. I saw Yuzuru in a bus stop waiting for a bus (he was younger, about 16-17), I don't know where it was, because we were neither in Japan nor Canada. So we both took the bus and Yuzuru almost sat next to me. He was a bit confused then I asked him where he wanted to go and he said that to a practice rink, but he didn't know where it was exactly. So I helped him and explained where to go. We then talked a bit, he was very cheerful and fun..then I woke up

Thank you! :hap93:
Really love how they properly point out PCS components, giving proper credit to Yuzuru's transitions :agree:

Yes, I really like both of those guys.
I also liked when they called the 4S combo Yuzuru's cross :laugh2:

BTW Max said that ITA Eurosport will air 4CC, so we're covered on ESP at least for that though I expect the Russians will as well. And of course, this is the moment when I am ridiculously pleased Yuzuru's at #14 on the list of participants and not #13 :slink:
