I don't know why some people say her SS is bad blahblah :scratch2:
She has a lot of one-foot skating and transitions and few crossovers. Her program is packed with huge amounts of footworks. Also she executes every steps, turns and move precisely.
Loop intro transition of Eteri's students (which is very complicated) are almost same, however you can see evgenia's transition is the most natural and accurate one :thumbsup:

But this is about Evgenia wanting to challenge herself, not really about getting a higher score.

I'd say her SS is good for her age. But if we talk about real speed, then she still lacks it. If we talk about better SS at the same age, then Adelina and even Anna, and Yulia were. Polina is great too. But of course, they are no where near stable and consistent as Zhenia.

her edge control is pretty good.
Speed.... it easy to skate on two legs or have few transitions to get high speed....

Bam! 5/6! Yes, her program is lack of speed, because of difficult (overwhelmed someone says) choreography by Ilya, if she doesn't need to do so many transitions - she will be faster than Lord Samarin! Btw, very good example when you have no transitions, but have a good speed.

Of course you can say Yuzuru has no lack in speed and has difficult transitions, but Yuzu is genious. We can't compare them.

That's the reason why Anna get always small PCS. Except her amazing stsq, incredible elevation on 3Lz and speed on her spins - her program is pretty empty.

Anna has almost the same amount of transitions as Zhenia actually. What Anna lacks is the stability that Zhenia has in all her elements.

Well, this is what I don't see. In wich aspect? I really want to know.. I saw Adelina in person..I wanted to see her great SS, but I couldn't see any difference from the other skaters in the show. This is not attack on Adelina..

First of all, when did you see Adelina, when she's off form and no longer in her best competitive mode? Or when she's at Sochi or Teb? Or when she bombed miserably which happened often.
Second, most specialists I know have complimented Adelina at her best as being amazingly fast with just a few crossovers, and that her 2A is almost the size of 3A of some men.
Third, you only need to rewatch her performances at Sochi, count the number of crossovers and transitions she did.

If you talk about when they're just performing in ice shows, then it is not a clear indication of what they actually can do in competitions.

Back to Zhenia, she is not fast, but she has tons of control. There's some girls who can be too fast and do not control their speed well (Canadian ladies, all 3 of them). So being too fast is not too good either. What I like about Zhenia is that she is very stable and always in control of her performance.

These are the SS criterions: "Skating skills (SS) reward use of edges and turns, flow over the ice surface, speed and acceleration, ice coverage, clean and controlled curves, multi-directional skating, and mastery of one-foot skating (no overuse of skating on two feet)."

I think most of them are constant skills, not dependent on the sport form. And I said this is not attack on Adelina, I just saw her in person and she is mentioned as one of the best skaters in SS and I wanted to check it.

Because by skating skills we very often mean flawless and freely skating, without any details. Like flying on the ice. :love: And yes, if we are talking in that way: my top three is Anastasia Gubanova, Carolina Kostner and Adelina Sotnikova. But if we will read about what by SS mean in the rules - there all are more complicated. :)

I believe you but how can I see it??? This was my first question. I can't see it. Yes, Zhenya isn't too fast but she makes a lot of turns and TRs, too many TRs for my taste. ( I see the "flying on ice" :thumbsup: )

I guess it's just misunderstanding :)

By skating skills people mean two things:
1) SS by rules or 2) SS - who was born for skating

So, if I understand you right, your point was that Evgenia not worse or even better in SS by rules (those six paragraphs) in compare with Anna, Adelina, etc - and I agree with you. :) But I meant second. I think it's just my mistake, don't get it at first :(

As I have said, you can't compare skaters who have been out of competitions for a while to skaters who are still competing at their top forms.
Skating skills also improve or regress depends on practice. It's the same with musicians, a 30 years old pianist who practice 4 hours per day of course have more accuracy than a 70 year old ex pianist who touch the piano like 2 times a week.
