sigh...I really don't need to read anymore about how Yuzu's team might be utterly incompetent because I can't stop worrying already.........![]()
Nastya was asked about her role models in FS.I don't speak Russian, doesn't it sound like she's being asked who's her favorite skaters and she said Anna Pogorilaya and Yuzuru Hanyu? XD Seconded, someone please please translate!
The biggest mistake was they allowed him to take part in practice before FS knowing he has injuiry. While Javier was just going around without any jumps and saving himself Hanyu was jumping his 15th quad in the session...... And most of them were quad toes.![]()

Yeah that was crazy. Clearly Yuzu wasn't feeling confident in his body and wanted the assurance and made a really stupid decision. Even if he were 100% healthy, that would seem a tad bit dubious thing to do. The fact that he got the official practice time wrong and had to rush warm-up probably shook him. Ideally Brian would have said something. ANA team should have stood up to Hanyu, but as Shirota-san said, they didn't. I wonder if it doesn't make more sense for Yuzu to have a conditioning person in Cricket as well, but probably (they better be) Cricket-ANA communication is better now as well. Maybe Team Brian should also have more input on warm-up strategy in relation to starting order as well... ?![]()

I do think it is a mixture of so many things that went wrong, and it is probably useless and unwise to pinpoint and blame just one main problem that lead to that skate. Besides, it had passed for a while and crying over spilled milk up to this day is kind of pointless. They happened almost 1 year ago and I'd like to think both Yuzuru and his team has learned from it. So hopefully we will see a different outcome this year.
Personally, unless we know actual details about how they handled stuff there, I would not dwell so much on it.
But how does this make Yuzu's team sound 'utterly incompetent'?There was a lot that was going wrong in Boston, a lot of that out of Yuzu's & his teams control, and some of that within their control. Most parties involved made mistakes of some sorts, but everyone does - which coach/team doesn't? Making mistakes doesn't mean you're 'utterly incompetent' by any means. I rather think all of them owning up to their mistakes shows that Yuzu has a great team... and they learned from it. Yuzu, Brian, Shirota and I'd wager the rest of the team too. So I really don't see a reason to be worried because of Yuzus team right now.
Anastasia Gubanova (2nd at JGPF in 2016) mentioned something about Yuzuru here.
Anyone who speaks Russian can kindly help translating what she is saying? Thank you![]()

This is just something I have thought about for quite a whileDaisy616, you said the description of how Brian felt after the NHK performances was lovely... can you explain? And thank you for your translations. It is much appreciated.
And thankyou too, gladiolusc, for your translations too.

You mean this video? https://youtu.be/08m9CebBBF4Quick note, YouTube managed to remove (not mute, but totally remove) the "More" video on that Russian channel, due to the Prince copyright, so while the one from GPF is still there and not muted currently, I am not sure for how long, considering. So who wants to, might want to download it just to be safe.

Sadly, it's way too long for me to translate each words.
So, just a rough summary:
When Yuzu landed 4T3T successfully, even knowing there were two 3As remaining, Brain already felt like going to another planet
He had goosebumps behind his neck. Forgetting he was a coach, he wanted to go out to the rink to skate with Yuzu.(I nearly cried when I read this phrase.)
That was the best skate he had ever seen in his entire life.
He sent mails to Jeff and Shae-Lynn, asking them to see the video on Internet. He wrote to them he was thankful and it was a really wonderful night.
Brian thinks it was an honor for all the people in the arena to witness Yuzu's performance and it was also great experience for him to witness that historic moment.
He still remembers Torvill & Dean’s Bolero, not only their program but also the arena's atmosphere because he was also there in the Olympics. Brian thinks Yuzu's SEIMEI at NHK is as historic as Torvill & Dean’s Bolero.
After Yuzu's FP, some judges talked to Brian. One of them judged for the first time at the international level that night. Till that day, she had only given skaters PCS something like 7, 7, 7... So she needed great courage to press a 10 button, but she said it was impossible not to give 10s for Yuzu's performance.
Brian says that every judge wants to press a 10 button, but there are not so many chances to do so. If they can, it will be unforgettable experience for them in their lives. According to Brian, all the judges left their judge seats after Yuzu skated, with expression full of satisfaction and happiness, but they would experience another miracle at Barcelona night!
(The book is written in Brian's personal narrative.)

Luckily other videos with less views are still on https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=yuzuru+hanyu+nhk+2016+spThat's the one still up. This one was removed

If you remember, that was NHK where he showed the 'more' sign after the SP and it spawned into a meme of a sorts. Well they didn't just mute it but removed the whole thing for some reason. It's a real shame, over 700k views too![]()
The men's FS is actually sold out again. They released a bunch of new tickets a couple of days ago, but for the men's FS they're already gone again. Hard to tell if they will release any more seats before the event. They might, they might not. You can also try the For Sale section and keep an eye on this thread in the Worlds Forum.

Of course, if you're made out of money, you can always buy a VIP ticket :roll9: somebody has inquired about where those seats would be, in case you're actually interested
