Eeeh chill, he won silver in Sochi 2012 however it didn't bother him to win Gold at same arena come on, eat some chocolate and hide your Chrystal ball somewhere

At Sochi he still messed and he was lucky that his rivals messed too. I don't think next Olympic they will all mess like that.
The point is he never won 4CC. He never did well in competition after a long rest. That's why I am not optimistic.

I doubt we will see that many clean performances from men. In all fairness, these past 2 seasons, among top men only Yuzu and Boyang have 2 actual clean skates back-to-back (SP and FS) in international competition? :think:

OK, I'll take this competition as trying out the Olympic arena - so winning isn't obligatory. But another third silver is just a bit too much.

I'm a forever scarred Sasha Cohen fan in that respect.

Or if he wins here he may pressure himself more to make sure he repeats it when it counts the most.

I just realized, in less than a year, 365 days, men's SP is going to take place in the same arena:hopelessness:I am already getting emotional that idk how I am gonna handle myself when the time truly comes.

After I bought my tix I wondered how the hell I am going to deal with my nerves and wondered if I was a total nut for doing this. I am still asking this question. I'll be cool as a cucumber for the team portion (since that's like a glorified cheesefest), but I may need to do some serious pre-gaming on the men's competition days. Either that or look into if Xanax is legal in South Korea...

Well I don't know. With Yuzuru I am never confident. He is just too hot and cold. Usually he does well in first day of practice and mess up the following days. As if pressure of the competition get to him, or the ice or the atmosphere. Never trust his practice.

I know I often say that practices means nothing. But I thought he has the better practice/runthrough compared to other men? Or not? (But then again practice means nothing lol why am I doing this to myself )

I really could not tell how a person will do to be honest, so maybe that's why when something unexpected happen, I am less surprised. Though when I said something jokingly it often come true. Like when I said today that Daleman will win SP and it (surprisingly) came true.

I do think he is very well prepared and tries to control everything nicely, he seems healthy and his practices are stable. I am having best hopes, if he keeps controlling his mental state and anxiousness (this is what happened to him at sc 2015, where he was pretty well prepared as well but got too anxious) he will be fine. And I want that damn combo landed finally Somehow I am "weirdly" calm let's see it is good or bad.

I'm also pretty sure he's overall the best in the SPs. He had 3 clean ones internationally back to back last season, and has the highest scoring SP this season too. Maybe I'm biased, but he's a way better competitor than a lot of people make him out to be, IMO.

I know it doesn't even make any sense, but the fact that so many skaters from TCC are doing well gives me hope Yuzu will do well, too. I mean, Gabby is first, Elizabet is 3rd, Dylan and Liubov are 4th. Of course, Yuzu being Yuzu, anything other than 1st is not well

I don't really trust his practices now as much as I trust how he seems to be handling himself. He seems to be following whatever they agreed to do; he's in a good mood; Brian's in a good mood. He obviously wants 4CC but it's not the pressure that the Worlds will have, so I see this as a bonus.

Now, this doesn't mean he'll have an excellent SP+FS but on the other hand, I think that as far as prerequisites go they have checked all the boxes and done all they can. Take heart! If it doesn't go well, it's not the end of the world. If it goes well, yay. Either way, there's alcohol. I mean, Worlds. There's Worlds to come. Don't stress yourself!

Exactly! I think some tend to undermine how difficult it is to put 2 clean skates back-to-back with the content that the top men are doing (4-7 quads in total); especially in a high-pressure competition. How many skaters do really well at Nationals or smaller competitions but fall apart on a bigger stage. Of course someone will and can at one point, but it is difficult.
About Yuzu, he managed not to drop too low when he messed up because his (backloaded) 3As save him so many times, honestly. And his mistakes are usually fully rotated falls on quads (like his early day's 4S or those weird period where he flopped his 3-3s) which still gather so many points compared to other skaters who pop jumps (which may look aesthetically more pleasing but is a score killer). So maybe the impression come from that. :noshake:

^^This. I'm just glad that he appears to be happy and comfortable and calm. We've dealt with injured Yuzuru, stressed and pressured Yuzuru, usually both at the same time. As far as being prepared goes, this is the best we could have hoped for so with that I'm content.

Anyway, I saw a number of korean news report about 4CC and they all seem to be hyping Yuzu so much. Which is unexpected, but nice to see? Most reports focus on him, I am quite surprised actually.

I know it doesn't even make any sense, but the fact that so many skaters from TCC are doing well gives me hope Yuzu will do well, too. I mean, Gabby is first, Elizabet is 3rd, Dylan and Liubov are 4th. Of course, Yuzu being Yuzu, anything other than 1st is not well

Well, Elizabet finally has a clean SP this season. Gabby did well. And Lubov finally land that 3S (lol).
