You mean he should go on a spiritual journey? I think the people here need it more lol

I'm no expert in this but he does look unbalanced. (Please don't take this in a hostile manner. I fully support him no matter what. I just expressed my opinion.)

edit: I'm not saying he has to always win and be the first no matter what.

I'm going to do myself a favor and not read the 4cc board anymore. It's too depressing to see how they are practically pushing Yuzu because "Nathan has better quads"
In my heart he will be forever the founder of the 300 club, and no one can take that away from him :sad21:

Ignore it because frankly, who cares?
If they wish to discount him, let them. They'll get a wake up call, sooner or later.

I came home from work and I saw like twenty more pages and I was like... what happened? Did Yuzu get injured again?:palmf: But well, I read all the conversations and I imagined the thread like this http://giphy.com/gifs/community-fire-shocked-nLhdSinRtaL2E

Lol I'm glad I'm not the only one LOL
The pessimism and the gloom here was so over the top I didn't know if to close the thread all together or just laugh

And all of that for getting 97 (I repeat Ninety-Seven) with a flawed SP in which he did 1 quad and 1 (very fine, as he would tell you himself) 2-3 combo (picking two of the lowest jumps on BV at that too  ) and did some other minor mistakes on a spin and steps losing on BV alone more than 10 points? :hopelessness:

I quit reading post-event threads long time ago, for own good:yay:

Just have visited some Russian forums. Russian skating fans praise him a lot, I think only Nathan received the same praise and admiration for his skills and performance. Some said Yuzu is the ultimate components king of the competition. Couldn't have agreed more. Good luck for him for the upcoming practice and free skate. He deserves to be happy the day after tomorrow and bring home some good memories from here. So I'm sure that even if he's not pure perfection in the free, he shall be granted with some happiness from the universe. Otherwise that's wrong universe and it produces wrong honey. Pooh bears shall get some dellicious honey portion after all.
I'm sure he was sincerely happy and comfortable before the short program day, it was not necessary some failed calculated tactic. It'd be great if he mixed enjoyment of the competition with self-control at the time of performance.

Like I said, mate. It's a step
Sometimes there are things that are beyond control and maybe this is just one of many for him. Maybe he will fix it one day maybe he won't.
Mental thing is a bit fickle to fix. Chan went to see sport psychologist but so far I have yet to see it working for him. While it work wonders for Yagudin after that very depressing consecutive loss at the 2000/2001 season. Even so, he still can't beat Plush at Nats (lol). If the human mind is as simple as it is to be understood, life will be easier, but unfortunately it is not the case ;)
Yagudin and National were never meant to be together I remember that (but also remember Tat wasn't in favor of Russian fed for long). Maybe the same as Yuzuru's with SC and 4CC. Maybe they're meant to never be together.

I didn't know Patrick went to sport psychologist? Really?

Anyone remember the Black Swan movie? That movie with Natalie Portman. The professional ballet dancers hate it so much. They said top ballerina all have cool heads or else they can't do all those balletic moves for years. That no way top professional ballet dancers are crazy with mental issue like the movie demonstrated. Anyway I am not a fan of that movie.

Why I mentioned it, cause I think Yuzuru doesn't have that cool head like those top ballerina. He is too emotional. He can be analytical when he isn't stressing himself out. But he always put pressure on himself. People love him as he is emotional. But it has a bad side as well.

Before this competition I actually hoped he could develop the cool head mentality like top ballerina. But now I give up. I guess he will never have it.

I really want him to have good memories of Olympic regardless of the result. Don't tell me a clean Yuzuru will definitely win, Yuzuru being clean doesn't mean he can win cause we know how FS has always been. I just hope he can have good memories of a performance to be remembered.

Hehe I saw that post. Shrugs.
There are so many qualifiers that need to go with that statement of "Nathan has better quads".

But more importantly, I think it's why he was the founder of the 300 club. It was because he gave us four magical performances, and in such emphatic manner. Years down the lane, no one's going to watch a program specifically because it's "the First Program with Four/Five Quads". But like you said, no one can take those historical performances away from him or us (except on youtube when they muted the audio for seimei :sarcasm:).

Oh I love Nathan cause he doesn't cheat takeoff like someone. But his quads still has some issues that can be pointed out. However I wouldn't list those technical issues I noticed here. People who don't care about technique will never care to believe my notions.

I dont think anyone had scored this high with a BV of 39.55 QUALITY (state in BOLD if not already) saved the day. No to mention he lost 0.4 for spin level and 0.6 for stsq:dance3:

I just want to say that, I know we have some very passionate fans of Yuzu here and I understand the source of frustration, but please let's not fall into despair because of this. He is 6 points behind the leader, and if someone can overcome that deficit, it's Yuzu. He didn't look to bummed about the mistake, and I think it's a good thing, he can't go into the FS with a negative thinking.
For now, I will just hope he can do a program he can be satisfied with on Sunday (Saturday for me), that he can show his ability to fight back and that he can rely on his FS as well, not only in his SP  I won't expect anything, I just hope he can be happy or at least not too regretful about it. This is all a growing process, and we are here to support him. :ghug:
Good luck in the FS Yuzu :hap93:

Lol Yes. Well over 10 points on GOE and with a lower coefficient on the combo and on stsq too
Was it the best SP ever? No, of course not, and I'm sure he is pretty annoyed himself at having missed that combo. And I think speed and energy wise NHK and GPF both were at higher level. But still he did the best 4Lo in competition so far and his 3A answered the call as the old trusted friend it is. One reading this thread without knowing the result would think it was a more disastrous version of Skate Canada 2015 SP (and mind you, even there it was quality that somehow saved the day for him)

The only thing i didn't like about this SP was that he didn't look like he was enjoying it, comparing it to NHK and GPF (that gesture to the audience before the knee slide :luv17: ) And i still think it was better than the one at Skate Canada (i needed three days to recover from that)

Pretty sure he/she meant "more," not "better" ;)

If both SP and FS are clean, true.

But this is the day where Patrick Chan gets 8.75 for skating skills. Twice. Frankly that shocked me more than anything else in some way. But it's a good warning that judges can be very, very messy. Yuzuru actually got a 9.00, as well as Patrick, from the same judge. Boggles the mind.

More isn't always better :( Certainly not enough to declare that Yuzu's time might be over or something...

I have to admit i was surprised too!

Well, not only you. He also hoped he could develop absolute champion-like mental toughness comparable to his idol's one. And he wanted to become the absolute champion who makes no mistakes like Plushenko. It's not respectful to judge his decisions but hopefully he reflected better on himself and realized it's not so possible and real for him. Firstly, you have brand-new content which is monstrous and very risky which is different from the past. Secondly, you can't become hard rock if you are a bit different competitor. You may try tho, and he tried and became better on that, bonzai. Cool-blooded people show up in the very beginning like Medvedeva and it's natural for them to be like that. So he should adjust taking into account his mental patterns, limits while being realistic. He can adapt with his own mentality, he did it successfully the previous season. He's strong when he manages himself. It seems he started approaching things differently. I believe in his evolution and maybe after WC the new season Yuzuru will be very different.

Of course I didn't mean that with a clean SP and a messy LP he wins the event. If he is clean in the SP he wins it, if he is clean in the FP he wins. It's as simple as that.

But you are true, that 8.75 was shocking to me as well. Especially that one of the judges who gave him that is from Canada. The world of figure skating is sometimes strange...
